1 Nebuchadnezzar the king made a statue of gold. Its height was sixty cubits and its width was six cubits; he set it up in the valley of Dura in the province of Babylon.
1 O rei Nabucodonosor fez uma imagem de ouro que tinha sessenta côvados de altura e seis de largura; levantou-a no campo de Dura, na província da Babilônia.
2 Then Nebuchadnezzar the king sent directions to assemble the satraps, the prefects, and the governors, the counselors, the treasurers, the judges, the magistrates and all of the officials of the provinces to come to the dedication of the statue that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.
2 Então, o rei Nabucodonosor mandou ajuntar os sátrapas, os prefeitos, os governadores, os juízes, os tesoureiros, os magistrados, os conselheiros e todos os oficiais das províncias, para que viessem à consagração da imagem que o rei Nabucodonosor tinha levantado.
3 Then the satraps, the prefects, the governors, the counselors, the treasurers, the judges, the magistrates, and all the officials of the province were assembled for the dedication of the statue that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up, and were standing ⌞before⌟ the statue that Nebuchadnezzar had set up.
3 Então, se ajuntaram os sátrapas, os prefeitos, os governadores, os juízes, os tesoureiros, os magistrados, os conselheiros e todos os oficiais das províncias, para a consagração da imagem que o rei Nabucodonosor tinha levantado; e estavam em pé diante da imagem que Nabucodonosor tinha levantado.
4 Then the herald proclaimed ⌞aloud⌟, “To you ⌞it is commanded⌟, O peoples, ⌞nations and people of all languages⌟,
4 Nisto, o arauto apregoava em alta voz: Ordena-se a vós outros, ó povos, nações e homens de todas as línguas:
5 that at the time that you hear the sound of the horn, the flute, the lyre, the trigon, the harp, the drum and all kinds of music, you must fall down and you must worship the statue of gold that Nebuchadnezzar the king has set up.
5 no momento em que ouvirdes o som da trombeta, do pífaro, da harpa, da cítara, do saltério, da gaita de foles e de toda sorte de música, vos prostrareis e adorareis a imagem de ouro que o rei Nabucodonosor levantou.
6 And ⌞whoever⌟ does not fall down and worship will be thrown ⌞immediately⌟ into the midst of the furnace of blazing fire.”
6 Qualquer que se não prostrar e não a adorar será, no mesmo instante, lançado na fornalha de fogo ardente.
7 ⌞Therefore⌟, ⌞at that time⌟, ⌞as soon as⌟ all the peoples heard the sound of the horn, the flute, the lyre, the trigon, the harp and all kinds of music, all the peoples, ⌞the nations and people of all languages⌟ were falling down and were worshiping the statue of gold that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.
7 Portanto, quando todos os povos ouviram o som da trombeta, do pífaro, da harpa, da cítara, do saltério e de toda sorte de música, se prostraram os povos, nações e homens de todas as línguas e adoraram a imagem de ouro que o rei Nabucodonosor tinha levantado.
8 ⌞Therefore⌟ ⌞at this time⌟ some ⌞astrologers⌟ came forward and ⌞they denounced the Jews⌟.
8 Ora, no mesmo instante, se chegaram alguns homens caldeus e acusaram os judeus;
9 ⌞They responded and said⌟ to Nebuchadnezzar the king, “O king, may you live ⌞forever⌟!
9 disseram ao rei Nabucodonosor: Ó rei, vive eternamente!
10 You, O king, have made a decree that ⌞everyone⌟ who hears the sound of the horn, the flute, the lyre, the trigon, the harp and the drum and all kinds of music, he shall fall down and shall worship the statue of gold.
10 Tu, ó rei, baixaste um decreto pelo qual todo homem que ouvisse o som da trombeta, do pífaro, da harpa, da cítara, do saltério, da gaita de foles e de toda sorte de música se prostraria e adoraria a imagem de ouro;
11 ⌞And whoever⌟ ⌞does not fall down⌟ and worship shall be thrown into the midst of the furnace of blazing fire.
11 e qualquer que não se prostrasse e não adorasse seria lançado na fornalha de fogo ardente.
12 However there are Judean men whom you have appointed over the affairs of the province of Babylon—Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego—these men, O king, ⌞pay you no heed⌟ and were not serving your god, and the statue of gold that you set up they are not worshiping.”
12 Há uns homens judeus, que tu constituíste sobre os negócios da província da Babilônia: Sadraque, Mesaque e Abede-Nego; estes homens, ó rei, não fizeram caso de ti, a teus deuses não servem, nem adoram a imagem de ouro que levantaste.
13 Then Nebuchadnezzar said in rage and anger to bring in Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego; then they brought in these men before the king.
13 Então, Nabucodonosor, irado e furioso, mandou chamar Sadraque, Mesaque e Abede-Nego. E trouxeram a estes homens perante o rei.
14 Nebuchadnezzar answered and said to them, “Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, that you are not serving my god, and you are not worshiping the statue of gold that I have set up?
14 Falou Nabucodonosor e lhes disse: É verdade, ó Sadraque, Mesaque e Abede-Nego, que vós não servis a meus deuses, nem adorais a imagem de ouro que levantei?
15 Now if you are ready so that ⌞when⌟ you hear the sound of the horn, the flute, the lyre, the trigon, the harp and the drum and all kinds of music, you fall down and you worship the statue that I have made, that will be good. But if you do not worship it, ⌞immediately⌟ you will be thrown into the midst of the furnace of blazing fire, and ⌞who is the god⌟ who will rescue you from my hands?”
15 Agora, pois, estai dispostos e, quando ouvirdes o som da trombeta, do pífaro, da cítara, da harpa, do saltério, da gaita de foles, prostrai-vos e adorai a imagem que fiz; porém, se não a adorardes, sereis, no mesmo instante, lançados na fornalha de fogo ardente. E quem é o deus que vos poderá livrar das minhas mãos?
16 Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego answered and said to the king, Nebuchadnezzar, “We have no need on this matter ⌞to present a defense to you⌟.
16 Responderam Sadraque, Mesaque e Abede-Nego ao rei: Ó Nabucodonosor, quanto a isto não necessitamos de te responder.
17 ⌞If it is so⌟, our God, whom we serve, is able to rescue us from the furnace of blazing fire. And from your hand, O king, let him rescue us.
17 Se o nosso Deus, a quem servimos, quer livrar-nos, ele nos livrará da fornalha de fogo ardente e das tuas mãos, ó rei.
18 And if not, let it be known to you, O king, that ⌞we will not serve your gods⌟, and the statue of gold that you have set up we will not worship.”
18 Se não, fica sabendo, ó rei, que não serviremos a teus deuses, nem adoraremos a imagem de ouro que levantaste.
19 Then Nebuchadnezzar was filled with anger and the image of his face was changed ⌞toward⌟ Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, so he ⌞ordered and said⌟ to heat up the one furnace seven times what was usual to heat it up.
19 Então, Nabucodonosor se encheu de fúria e, transtornado o aspecto do seu rosto contra Sadraque, Mesaque e Abede-Nego, ordenou que se acendesse a fornalha sete vezes mais do que se costumava.
20 And he commanded ⌞the strongest men of the guards⌟ who were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego and to throw them into the furnace of blazing fire.
20 Ordenou aos homens mais poderosos que estavam no seu exército que atassem a Sadraque, Mesaque e Abede-Nego e os lançassem na fornalha de fogo ardente.
21 Then these men were bound with their garments, their trousers and their turbans and their other clothing, and they were thrown into the midst of the furnace of blazing fire.
21 Então, estes homens foram atados com os seus mantos, suas túnicas e chapéus e suas outras roupas e foram lançados na fornalha sobremaneira acesa.
22 ⌞Therefore⌟ ⌞because⌟ the word of the king was severe and the furnace was exceedingly hot, the flame of the fire killed these men who lifted up Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego.
22 Porque a palavra do rei era urgente e a fornalha estava sobremaneira acesa, as chamas do fogo mataram os homens que lançaram de cima para dentro a Sadraque, Mesaque e Abede-Nego.
23 But these men, the three of them, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, fell down into the midst of the furnace of blazing fire, and they were bound.
23 Estes três homens, Sadraque, Mesaque e Abede-Nego, caíram atados dentro da fornalha sobremaneira acesa.
24 Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonished, and he rose up in haste and he asked, saying to his advisers, “Did we not throw three men, bound, into the midst of the fire? They answered, saying to the king, “Certainly, O king!”
24 Então, o rei Nabucodonosor se espantou, e se levantou depressa, e disse aos seus conselheiros: Não lançamos nós três homens atados dentro do fogo? Responderam ao rei: É verdade, ó rei.
25 ⌞He answered⌟, saying, “Look, I see four men unbound walking in the midst of the fire and there is no damage to them, and the appearance of the fourth man resembles the son of a god.”
25 Tornou ele e disse: Eu, porém, vejo quatro homens soltos, que andam passeando dentro do fogo, sem nenhum dano; e o aspecto do quarto é semelhante a um filho dos deuses.
26 Then Nebuchadnezzar approached the door of the furnace of blazing fire, and he called out, saying, “Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, ⌞servants⌟ of the Most High God, come out and come here!”
26 Então, se chegou Nabucodonosor à porta da fornalha sobremaneira acesa, falou e disse: Sadraque, Mesaque e Abede-Nego, servos do Deus Altíssimo, saí e vinde! Então, Sadraque, Mesaque e Abede-Nego saíram do meio do fogo.
27 And the satraps, the prefects, the governors and the advisors of the king were assembling, and they saw these men, that the fire had no power over their bodies, and the hair of their heads was not singed, and their garments were not harmed, and the smell of fire did not come from them.
27 Ajuntaram-se os sátrapas, os prefeitos, os governadores e conselheiros do rei e viram que o fogo não teve poder algum sobre os corpos destes homens; nem foram chamuscados os cabelos da sua cabeça, nem os seus mantos se mudaram, nem cheiro de fogo passara sobre eles.
28 Nebuchadnezzar ⌞responded⌟, saying, “Blessed be their God, the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, who sent his angel and rescued his servants who trusted in him, and the command of the king they disobeyed, and they gave their bodies so that they did not serve and did not worship any god except their God.
28 Falou Nabucodonosor e disse: Bendito seja o Deus de Sadraque, Mesaque e Abede-Nego, que enviou o seu anjo e livrou os seus servos, que confiaram nele, pois não quiseram cumprir a palavra do rei, preferindo entregar o seu corpo, a servirem e adorarem a qualquer outro deus, senão ao seu Deus.
29 And from me ⌞is set forth⌟ a decree that any people, nation, or language that may utter criticism against their God—the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego—will be broken into pieces and their house will be made like ruins. ⌞For⌟ there is not another God who is able to rescue like this God.”
29 Portanto, faço um decreto pelo qual todo povo, nação e língua que disser blasfêmia contra o Deus de Sadraque, Mesaque e Abede-Nego seja despedaçado, e as suas casas sejam feitas em monturo; porque não há outro deus que possa livrar como este.
30 Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in the province of Babylon.
30 Então, o rei fez prosperar a Sadraque, Mesaque e Abede-Nego na província da Babilônia.
