1 AND it came to pass, as he was in a certain place praying, when he had done, one of his disciples said to him, Lord, teach us to pray, even as John also taught his disciples.
1 E aconteceu que, estando ele a orar num certo lugar, quando acabou, lhe disse um dos seus discípulos: Senhor, ensina-nos a orar, como também João ensinou aos seus discípulos.
2 And he said unto them, When ye pray say, Our Father, which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name: thy kingdom come: thy will be done as in heaven so upon earth.
2 E ele lhes disse: Quando orardes, dizei: Pai, santificado seja o teu nome; venha o teu Reino;
3 Give us our necessary food, day by day:
3 dá-nos cada dia o nosso pão cotidiano;
4 and forgive us our sins, for we also forgive every one who is indebted to us. And bring us not into temptation; but deliver us from the wicked one.
4 perdoa-nos os nossos pecados, pois também nós perdoamos a qualquer que nos deve; e não nos conduzas em tentação, mas livra-nos do mal.
5 And he said unto them, Which of you shall have a friend, and he shall go to him at midnight, and say to him, Friend, lend me three loaves;
5 Disse-lhes também: Qual de vós terá um amigo e, se for procurá-lo à meia-noite, lhe disser: Amigo, empresta-me três pães,
6 for a friend of mine is come to me off a journey, and I have nothing to set before him.
6 pois que um amigo meu chegou a minha casa,
7 And he from within answering, shall say, Give me no farther trouble: my door is already locked, and my children are with me in bed; I am unable to rise and give thee.
7 se ele, respondendo de dentro, disser: Não me importunes; já está a porta fechada, e os meus filhos estão comigo na cama; não posso levantar-me para
8 I tell you, though even he would not rise and give him because he is his friend; yet because of his importunity, roused up, he will give him as many as he needeth.
8 Digo-vos que, ainda que se não levante a dar- por ser seu amigo, levantar-se-á, todavia, por causa da sua importunação e lhe dará tudo o que houver mister.
9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
9 E eu vos digo a vós: Pedi, e dar-se-vos-á; buscai, e achareis; batei, e abrir-se-vos-á;
10 For every one who asketh, receiveth; and he that seeketh, findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
10 porque qualquer que pede recebe; e quem busca acha; e a quem bate, abrir-se-lhe-á.
11 For what father of you, if his son ask a loaf, will he give him a stone? or if a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?
11 E qual o pai dentre vós que, se o filho lhe pedir pão, lhe dará uma pedra? Ou também,
12 or if he ask also an egg, will he give him a scorpion?
12 Ou também, se lhe pedir um ovo, lhe dará um escorpião?
13 If ye then, evil as ye are, know how to give good gifts to your children; how much more shall your Father, who is in heaven, give his Holy Spirit to those who ask him?
13 Pois, se vós, sendo maus, sabeis dar boas dádivas aos vossos filhos, quanto mais dará o Pai celestial o Espírito Santo àqueles que lho pedirem?
14 And he was casting out a devil, and it was dumb. And it came to pass, when the devil was gone out, the dumb person spake, and the people marvelled.
14 E estava ele expulsando um demônio, o qual era mudo. E aconteceu que, saindo o demônio, o mudo falou; e maravilhou-se a multidão.
15 But some of them said, He casteth out devils by Beelzebub the prince of the devils.
15 Mas alguns deles diziam: Ele expulsa os demônios por Belzebu, príncipe dos demônios.
16 But others, tempting him, sought of him a sign from heaven.
16 E outros, tentando- o, pediam-lhe um sinal do céu.
17 But he, knowing their thoughts, said to them, Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste; and a house against a house, falleth.
17 Mas, conhecendo ele os seus pensamentos, disse-lhes: Todo reino dividido contra si mesmo será assolado; e a casa
18 And if Satan also be divided against himself, how shall his kingdom be established? because ye say, that I cast out devils by Beelzebub.
18 E, se também Satanás está dividido contra si mesmo, como subsistirá o seu reino? Pois dizeis que eu expulso os demônios por Belzebu.
19 But if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your sons cast them out? therefore they shall be your judges.
19 E, se eu expulso os demônios por Belzebu, por quem
20 But if with the finger of God I cast out devils, then, verily the kingdom of God is come unto you.
20 Mas, se eu expulso os demônios pelo dedo de Deus, certamente, a vós é chegado o Reino de Deus.
21 When a strong man, in complete armour, guards his palace, his goods are in peace.
21 Quando o valente guarda, armado, a sua casa, em segurança está tudo quanto tem.
22 But when a stronger person than he coming, vanquisheth him, he takes away his suit of armour in which he confided, and distributes the spoils.
22 Mas, sobrevindo outro mais valente do que ele e vencendo-o, tira-
23 He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me, scattereth abroad.
23 Quem não é comigo é contra mim; e quem comigo não ajunta espalha.
24 When the unclean spirit goeth out of a man, he passes through places destitute of water, seeking repose; and not finding it, saith, I will go back to my habitation from whence I came out:
24 Quando o espírito imundo tem saído do homem, anda por lugares secos, buscando repouso; e, não
25 and coming, he findeth it swept and furnished.
25 E, chegando, acha-
26 Then goeth he, and taketh seven other spirits, more wicked than himself; and they entering in, take up their abode there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first.
26 Então, vai e leva consigo outros sete espíritos piores do que ele; e, entrando, habitam ali; e o último estado desse homem é pior do que o primeiro.
27 And it came to pass as he was speaking these words, a certain woman from among the multitude lift up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the breasts which thou hast sucked.
27 E aconteceu que, dizendo ele essas coisas, uma mulher dentre a multidão, levantando a voz, lhe disse: Bem-aventurado o ventre que te trouxe e os peitos em que mamaste!
28 But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they who hear the word of God and observe it.
28 Mas ele disse: Antes, bem-aventurados os que ouvem a palavra de Deus e a guardam.
29 Then the multitudes thronging around him, he began to say, This is a wicked generation: it seeketh a sign, and no sign shall be given it, but the sign of Jonah the prophet.
29 E, ajuntando-se a multidão, começou a dizer: Maligna é esta geração; ela pede um sinal; e não lhe será dado outro sinal, senão o sinal do profeta Jonas.
30 For as Jonas was a sign to the Ninevites, so shall the Son of man also be to this generation.
30 Porquanto assim como Jonas foi sinal para os ninivitas, assim o Filho do Homem
31 The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment against the men of this generation, and shall condemn them: for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.
31 A rainha do Sul se levantará no Dia do Juízo com os homens desta geração e os condenará; pois até dos confins da terra veio ouvir a sabedoria de Salomão; e eis aqui está quem é maior do que Salomão.
32 The men of Nineveh shall rise up in judgment against this generation, and shall condemn it, for they repented on the preaching of Jonah, and, behold, a greater than Jonah is here.
32 Os homens de Nínive se levantarão no Dia do Juízo com esta geração e a condenarão; pois se converteram com a pregação de Jonas; e eis aqui está quem é maior do que Jonas.
33 But no man lighting a lamp putteth it in a concealed place, or under a bushel, but on a stand, that they who are coming in, may see the light.
33 E ninguém, acendendo uma candeia, a põe em oculto, nem debaixo do alqueire, mas no velador, para que os que entram vejam a luz.
34 The lamp of the body is the eye: when therefore thine eye is clear, thy whole body will be luminous, but if it be vitiated, thy whole body will be darkened.
34 A candeia do corpo é o olho. Sendo, pois, o teu olho simples, também todo o teu corpo será luminoso; mas, se for mau, também o teu corpo será tenebroso.
35 Let it be thy aim then, that the light which is in thee do not become darkness.
35 Vê, pois, que a luz que em ti há não sejam trevas.
36 If then thy whole body be illuminated, not having any dark part, it will be wholly luminous, as a lamp by its brightness diffuseth light.
36 Se, pois, todo o teu corpo é luminoso, não tendo em trevas parte alguma, todo será luminoso, como quando a candeia te alumia com o seu resplendor.
37 Now as he was speaking, a certain Pharisee invited him to dine with him; and going in with him, he sat down.
37 E, estando ele ainda falando, rogou-lhe um fariseu que fosse jantar com ele; e, entrando, assentou-se à mesa.
38 But the Pharisee seeing it, marvelled, that he had not washed before dinner.
38 Mas o fariseu admirou-se, vendo que se não lavara antes do jantar.
39 Then said the Lord unto him, Now ye Pharisees make the outside of the cup and of the dish clean, but your inward parts are full of extortion and wickedness.
39 E o Senhor lhe disse: Agora, vós, fariseus, limpais o exterior do copo e do prato, mas o vosso interior está cheio de rapina e maldade.
40 Ye senseless men! did not he who made that which is without, make also that which is within?
40 Loucos! O que fez o exterior não fez também o interior?
41 But give what is within them for alms; and, lo! all will be pure unto you.
41 Dai, antes, esmola do que tiverdes, e eis que tudo vos será limpo.
42 But wo to you, Pharisees, because ye tithe mint, and rue, and every herb, and pass by judgment and the love of God. These ought ye to have done, and not to have omitted the other.
42 Mas ai de vós, fariseus, que dizimais a hortelã, e a arruda, e toda hortaliça e desprezais o Juízo e o amor de Deus! Importava fazer essas coisas e não deixar as outras.
43 Wo unto you, Pharisees, for ye love the first seats in the synagogues, and salutations in the places of public concourse.
43 Ai de vós, fariseus, que amais os primeiros assentos nas sinagogas e as saudações nas praças!
44 Wo unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are as graves concealed, which men, while walking over them, see not.
44 Ai de vós, escribas e fariseus hipócritas, que sois como as sepulturas que não aparecem, e os homens que sobre
45 Then one of the doctors of the law addressing him, said, Master, thus speaking, thou reproachest us also.
45 E, respondendo um dos doutores da lei, disse-lhe: Mestre, quando dizes isso também nos afrontas a nós.
46 And he said, Wo also to you, teachers of the law! for ye load men with burdens hardly bearable, and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers.
46 E ele lhe disse: Ai de vós também, doutores da lei, que carregais os homens com cargas difíceis de transportar, e vós mesmos nem ainda com um dos vossos dedos tocais essas cargas!
47 Wo unto you! for ye build the sepulchres of the prophets, and your fathers killed them.
47 Ai de vós que edificais os sepulcros dos profetas, e vossos pais os mataram!
48 Ye do indeed bear witness to, and with pleasure concur in your fathers’ deeds; for they truly killed them, and ye build their sepulchres.
48 Bem testificais, pois, que consentis nas obras de vossos pais; porque eles os mataram, e vós edificais os seus sepulcros.
49 Therefore also the wisdom of God hath said, I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they shall kill, and shall persecute:
49 Por isso, diz também a sabedoria de Deus: Profetas e apóstolos lhes mandarei; e eles matarão
50 that the blood of all the prophets, which hath been shed since the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation:
50 para que desta geração seja requerido o sangue de todos os profetas que, desde a fundação do mundo, foi derramado;
51 from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zachariah, who was slain between the altar and the temple: verily I tell you, It shall be required of this generation.
51 desde o sangue de Abel até ao sangue de Zacarias, que foi morto entre o altar e o templo; assim, vos digo, será requerido desta geração.
52 Wo unto you, teachers of the law! for ye have taken away the key of knowledge; ye yourselves enter not in, and those who were entering ye have hindered.
52 Ai de vós, doutores da lei, que tirastes a chave da ciência! Vós mesmos não entrastes e impedistes os que entravam.
53 And as he was saying these things unto them, the scribes and Pharisees began to urge him vehemently, and to extort answers from him respecting many things;
53 E, dizendo-lhes ele isso, começaram os escribas e os fariseus a apertá-lo fortemente e a fazê-lo falar acerca de muitas coisas,
54 laying snares for him, and seeking to catch hold of something from his mouth, that they might accuse him.
54 armando-lhe ciladas, a fim de apanharem da sua boca alguma coisa para o acusarem.
