1 Then the leaders of the families of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, from the stock of the sons of Joseph, approached and spoke to Moses before the leaders of Israel, and they said:
1 Os cabeças das casas paternas da família dos filhos de Gileade, filho de Maquir, filho de Manassés, das famílias dos filhos de José, foram falar com Moisés e com os chefes, cabeças das casas paternas dos filhos de Israel.
2 “The Lord has instructed you, our ruler, so that you would divide the land by lot to the sons of Israel, and so that you would give to the daughters of Zelophehad, our brother, the possession owed to their father.
2 Eles disseram: — O
3 But if men of another tribe receive them as wives, their possession will follow them, and having been transferred to another tribe, there will be a reduction in our inheritance.
3 Porém, se elas casarem com algum dos filhos das outras tribos dos filhos de Israel, a herança delas seria diminuída da herança de nossos pais e acrescentada à herança da tribo a que vierem pertencer. Assim, seria tirada uma parte da herança que nos coube por sorteio.
4 And so it may be that, when the Jubilee of remission, that is, the fiftieth year, has arrived, the distribution by lots shall be confounded, and the possession of the one shall be transferred to others.”
4 E, quando chegar o Ano do Jubileu dos filhos de Israel, a herança delas será acrescentada à herança da tribo daqueles a que vierem pertencer. Assim, a herança delas será tirada da tribo de nossos pais.
5 Moses answered the sons of Israel, and, at the instruction of the Lord, he said: “The tribe of the sons of Joseph has spoken correctly.
5 Então Moisés deu ordem aos filhos de Israel, segundo o mandado do Senhor , dizendo: — A tribo dos filhos de José está pedindo o que é justo.
6 And so, this is the law which has been promulgated by the Lord about the daughters of Zelophehad: Let them marry whomever they may wish, but only among the men of their own tribe,
6 Esta é a palavra que o Senhor deu a respeito das filhas de Zelofeade, dizendo: Elas podem casar com quem quiserem, desde que se casem na família da tribo do pai delas.
7 lest the possession of the sons of Israel become commingled, from tribe to tribe. For all men shall take wives from their own tribe and kinship;
7 Assim, a herança dos filhos de Israel não passará de uma tribo a outra. Pois os filhos de Israel devem ficar vinculados cada um à herança da tribo de seus pais.
8 and all women shall take husbands from their same tribe, so that the inheritance may remain within the families,
8 Qualquer filha que possuir alguma herança das tribos dos filhos de Israel deverá casar com alguém da família da tribo de seu pai, para que os filhos de Israel possuam cada um a herança de seus pais.
9 and so that the tribes may not be mingled together, but may remain such as they were separated by the Lord.”
9 Assim, a herança não passará de uma tribo a outra; pois as tribos dos filhos de Israel devem ficar vinculadas cada uma à sua herança.
10 And the daughters of Zelophehad acted according to what was ordered.
10 Como o Senhor havia ordenado a Moisés, assim fizeram as filhas de Zelofeade,
11 And Mahlah, and Tirzah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Noa were wed to the sons of their paternal uncle,
11 pois Macla, Tirza, Hogla, Milca e Noa, filhas de Zelofeade, casaram com filhos de seus tios paternos.
12 from the family of Manasseh, who was a son of Joseph. And the possession which had been distributed to them remained in the tribe and family of their father.
12 Casaram nas famílias dos filhos de Manassés, filho de José, e a herança delas permaneceu na tribo da família de seu pai.
13 These are the commandments and judgments which the Lord ordered by the hand of Moses to the sons of Israel, in the plains of Moab, above the Jordan, opposite Jericho.
13 São estes os mandamentos e os juízos que o Senhor , por meio de Moisés, ordenou aos filhos de Israel nas campinas de Moabe, junto ao Jordão, na altura de Jericó.
