1 Listen to what the Lord says: Rise, contend in judgment against the mountains, and let the hills hear your voice.
1 Ouvi agora o que diz o SENHOR: Levanta-te, contende com os montes, e ouçam os outeiros a tua voz.
2 Let the mountains listen to the judgment of the Lord, and the strong foundations of the earth. For the judgment of the Lord is with his people, and he will enter into judgment with Israel.
2 Ouvi, montes, a demanda do Senhor, e vós, fortes fundamentos da terra; porque o Senhor tem uma demanda com o seu povo, e com Israel entrará em juízo.
3 My people, what have I done to you, or how have I assailed you? Respond to me.
3 Ó povo meu; que te tenho feito? E com que te enfadei? Testifica contra mim.
4 For I led you out of the land of Egypt, and I freed you from the house of servitude, and I sent before your face Moses, and Aaron, and Miriam.
4 Pois te fiz subir da terra do Egito, e da casa da servidão te remi; e enviei adiante de ti a Moisés, Arão e Miriã.
5 My people, remember, I ask you, what Balak the king of Moab planned, and how Balaam the son of Beor responded to him, from Shittim even to Gilgal, so that you may know the justice of the Lord.
5 Povo meu, lembra-te agora do que consultou Balaque, rei de Moabe, e o que lhe respondeu Balaão, filho de Beor, e do que aconteceu desde Sitim até Gilgal, para que conheças as justiças do Senhor.
6 What worthy thing might I offer to the Lord, as I bend the knee before God on high? How could I offer holocausts to him, and one year-old calves?
6 Com que me apresentarei ao Senhor, e me inclinarei diante do Deus altíssimo? Apresentar-me-ei diante dele com holocaustos, com bezerros de um ano?
7 Would the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, or with many thousands of fat he-goats? How could I give up my firstborn because of my evil deed, the fruit of my womb because of the sin of my soul?
7 Agradar-se-á o Senhor de milhares de carneiros, ou de dez mil ribeiros de azeite? Darei o meu primogênito pela minha transgressão, o fruto do meu ventre pelo pecado da minha alma?
8 I will reveal to you, O man, what is good, and what the Lord requires from you, and how to act with judgment, and to love mercy, and to walk carefully with your God.
8 Ele te declarou, ó homem, o que é bom; e que é o que o Senhor pede de ti, senão que pratiques a justiça, e ames a benignidade, e andes humildemente com o teu Deus?
9 The voice of the Lord cries out to the city, “Listen, you tribes,” and who will confirm it? And salvation will be for those who fear your name.
9 A voz do Senhor clama à cidade e o que é sábio verá o teu nome. Ouvi a vara, e quem a ordenou.
10 Nevertheless, there is a fire in the house of the impious, the treasury of iniquity, and a small measure, filled with wrath.
10 Ainda há na casa do ímpio tesouros da impiedade, e medida escassa, que é detestável?
11 Shall I justify unfaithful balances, and the deceitful weighing of a small bag?
11 Seria eu limpo com balanças falsas, e com uma bolsa de pesos enganosos?
12 By this, her wealthy have been filled with iniquity, and her inhabitants have spoken lies, and their tongue was deceitful in their mouth.
12 Porque os seus ricos estão cheios de violência, e os seus habitantes falam mentiras e a sua língua é enganosa na sua boca.
13 And I, therefore, began to strike you with perdition because of your sins.
13 Assim eu também te enfraquecerei, ferindo-te e assolando-te por causa dos teus pecados.
14 You will consume and not be satisfied, and your humiliation will be in your midst. And you will take hold, and not save, and those whom you will save, I will deliver to the sword.
14 Tu comerás, mas não te fartarás, e a tua humilhação estará no meio de ti; removerás os teus bens mas não livrarás; e aquilo que livrares, eu o entregarei à espada.
15 You will sow, and not reap. You will tread the olives, and not be anointed with oil, and crush the grapes, and not drink the wine.
15 Tu semearás, mas não segarás; pisarás a azeitona, mas não te ungirás com azeite; e pisarás o mosto, mas não beberás vinho.
16 For you have kept the precepts of Omri, and all the works of the house of Ahab. And you have walked according their wills, so that I should give you over to perdition and its hissing inhabitants, and you would carry the disgrace of my people.
16 Porque se observam os estatutos de Onri, e toda a obra da casa de Acabe, e andais nos conselhos deles; para que eu te faça uma desolação, e dos seus habitantes um assobio; assim trareis sobre vós o opróbrio do meu povo.
