1 And the Lord said to Moses: “I will touch Pharaoh and Egypt with one more plague, and after these things he will release you, and he will compel you to go out.
1 Disse o Senhor a Moisés: Ainda mais uma praga trarei sobre Faraó e sobre o Egito. Então, vos deixará ir daqui; quando vos deixar, é certo que vos expulsará totalmente.
2 Therefore, you will tell all the people to ask, a man of his friend, and a woman of her neighbor, for vessels of silver and of gold.
2 Fala, agora, aos ouvidos do povo que todo homem peça ao seu vizinho, e toda mulher, à sua vizinha objetos de prata e de ouro.
3 Then the Lord will grant favor to his people in the sight of the Egyptians.” And Moses was a very great man in the land of Egypt, in the sight of the servants of Pharaoh and of all the people.
3 E o Senhor fez que o seu povo encontrasse favor da parte dos egípcios; também o homem Moisés era mui famoso na terra do Egito, aos olhos dos oficiais de Faraó e aos olhos do povo.
4 And he said: “Thus says the Lord: ‘In the middle of the night I will enter into Egypt.
4 Moisés disse: Assim diz o Senhor : Cerca da meia-noite passarei pelo meio do Egito.
5 And every firstborn in the land of the Egyptians shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh, who sits on his throne, even to the firstborn of the handmaid, who is at the millstone, and all the firstborn of the beasts of burden.
5 E todo primogênito na terra do Egito morrerá, desde o primogênito de Faraó, que se assenta no seu trono, até ao primogênito da serva que está junto à mó, e todo primogênito dos animais.
6 And there will be a great outcry throughout the entire land of Egypt, such as has not been before, nor ever will be afterward.
6 Haverá grande clamor em toda a terra do Egito, qual nunca houve, nem haverá jamais;
7 But among all the sons of Israel there shall not be even a mutter from a dog, from man, even to cattle, so that you may know how miraculously the Lord divides the Egyptians from Israel.’
7 porém contra nenhum dos filhos de Israel, desde os homens até aos animais, nem ainda um cão rosnará, para que saibais que o Senhor fez distinção entre os egípcios e os israelitas.
8 And all these, your servants, shall descend to me and shall reverence me, by saying: ‘Depart, you and all the people who are subject to you.’ After these things, we will depart.”
8 Então, todos estes teus oficiais descerão a mim e se inclinarão perante mim, dizendo: Sai tu e todo o povo que te segue. E, depois disto, sairei. E, ardendo em ira, se retirou da presença de Faraó.
9 And he went out from Pharaoh exceedingly angry. Then the Lord said to Moses: “Pharaoh will not listen to you, so that many signs may be accomplished in the land of Egypt.”
9 Então, disse o Senhor a Moisés: Faraó não vos ouvirá, para que as minhas maravilhas se multipliquem na terra do Egito.
10 Now Moses and Aaron did all the wonders that are written, in the sight of Pharaoh. And the Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh; neither did he release the sons of Israel from his land.
10 Moisés e Arão fizeram todas essas maravilhas perante Faraó; mas o Senhor endureceu o coração de Faraó, que não permitiu saíssem da sua terra os filhos de Israel.
