1 “And now, O Israel, listen to the precepts and judgments which I am teaching to you, so that, by doing these, you may live, and you may enter and possess the land, which the Lord, the God of your fathers, will give to you.
1 Agora, pois, ó Israel, ouve os estatutos e os juízos que eu vos ensino, para os cumprirdes; para que vivais, e entreis, e possuais a terra que o SENHOR Deus de vossos pais vos dá.
2 You shall not add to the word which I speak to you, neither shall you take away from it. Preserve the commandments of the Lord your God which I am teaching to you.
2 Não acrescentareis à palavra que vos mando, nem diminuireis dela, para que guardeis os mandamentos do Senhor vosso Deus, que eu vos mando.
3 Your eyes have seen all that the Lord has done against Baal-peor, in what manner he has crushed all of his worshippers from among you.
3 Os vossos olhos têm visto o que o Senhor fez por causa de Baal-Peor; pois a todo o homem que seguiu a Baal-Peor o Senhor teu Deus consumiu do meio de ti.
4 But you who adhere to the Lord your God are all still alive, to the present day.
4 Porém vós, que vos achegastes ao Senhor vosso Deus, hoje todos estais vivos.
5 You know that I have taught you precepts as well as justices, just as the Lord my God has commanded me. And so shall you do in the land that you will possess.
5 Vedes aqui vos tenho ensinado estatutos e juízos, como me mandou o Senhor meu Deus; para que assim façais no meio da terra a qual ides a herdar.
6 And you shall observe and fulfill these in practice. For this is your wisdom and understanding in the sight of the peoples, so that, upon hearing all these precepts, they may say: ‘Lo, a wise and understanding people, a great nation.’
6 Guardai-os pois, e cumpri-os, porque isso será a vossa sabedoria e o vosso entendimento perante os olhos dos povos, que ouvirão todos estes estatutos, e dirão: Este grande povo é nação sábia e entendida.
7 Neither is there any other nation so great, which has its gods so near to them, as our God is present to all our petitions.
7 Pois, que nação há tão grande, que tenha deuses tão chegados como o Senhor nosso Deus, todas as vezes que o invocamos?
8 For what other nation is there so renowned as to have ceremonies, and just judgments, and the entire law that I will set forth today before your eyes?
8 E que nação há tão grande, que tenha estatutos e juízos tão justos como toda esta lei que hoje ponho perante vós?
9 And so, guard yourself and your soul carefully. You should not forget the words that your eyes have seen, and do not let them be cut away from your heart, throughout all the days of your life. You shall teach them to your sons and to your grandsons,
9 Tão-somente guarda-te a ti mesmo, e guarda bem a tua alma, que não te esqueças daquelas coisas que os teus olhos têm visto, e não se apartem do teu coração todos os dias da tua vida; e as farás saber a teus filhos, e aos filhos de teus filhos.
10 from the day on which you stood before the Lord your God at Horeb, when the Lord spoke to me, saying: ‘Gather the people to me, so that they may listen to my words, and may learn to fear me, throughout all the time that they are alive on earth, and so that they may teach their children.’
10 O dia em que estiveste perante o Senhor teu Deus em Horebe, quando o Senhor me disse: Ajunta-me este povo, e os farei ouvir as minhas palavras, e aprendê-las-ão, para me temerem todos os dias que na terra viverem, e as ensinarão a seus filhos;
11 And you approached the base of the mountain, which was burning even toward heaven. And there was a darkness upon it, and a cloud, and a mist.
11 E vós vos chegastes, e vos pusestes ao pé do monte; e o monte ardia em fogo até ao meio dos céus, e havia trevas, e nuvens e escuridão;
12 And the Lord spoke to you from the midst of fire. You heard the voice of his words, but you did not see any form at all.
12 Então o Senhor vos falou do meio do fogo; a voz das palavras ouvistes; porém, além da voz, não vistes figura alguma.
13 And he revealed his covenant to you, which he instructed you to carry out, and the ten words which he wrote on two tablets of stone.
13 Então vos anunciou ele a sua aliança que vos ordenou cumprir, os dez mandamentos, e os escreveu em duas tábuas de pedra.
14 And he commanded me, at that time, that I should teach you the ceremonies and judgments which you must carry out, in the land that you shall possess.
14 Também o Senhor me ordenou ao mesmo tempo que vos ensinasse estatutos e juízos, para que os cumprísseis na terra a qual passais a possuir.
15 And so, guard your souls carefully. You saw no likeness on the day that the Lord God spoke to you on Horeb from the midst of fire.
15 Guardai, pois, com diligência as vossas almas, pois nenhuma figura vistes no dia em que o Senhor, em Horebe, falou convosco do meio do fogo;
16 Otherwise, perhaps being deceived, you might have made a graven image, or an image of male or female,
16 Para que não vos corrompais, e vos façais alguma imagem esculpida na forma de qualquer figura, semelhança de homem ou mulher;
17 a likeness of any of the beasts, which are upon the earth, or of birds, which fly under heaven,
17 Figura de algum animal que haja na terra; figura de alguma ave alada que voa pelos céus;
18 or of reptiles, which move across the earth, or of fish, which abide in the waters under the earth.
18 Figura de algum animal que se arrasta sobre a terra; figura de algum peixe que esteja nas águas debaixo da terra;
19 Otherwise, perhaps lifting up your eyes to heaven, you might look upon the sun and the moon and all the stars of heaven, and being deceived by error, you might adore and worship these things, which the Lord your God created for the service of all the nations, which are under heaven.
19 Que não levantes os teus olhos aos céus e vejas o sol, e a lua, e as estrelas, todo o exército dos céus; e sejas impelido a que te inclines perante eles, e sirvas àqueles que o Senhor teu Deus repartiu a todos os povos debaixo de todos os céus.
20 But the Lord has taken you up, and led you away from the iron furnaces of Egypt, in order to have a people of inheritance, just as it is to the present day.
20 Mas o Senhor vos tomou, e vos tirou da fornalha de ferro do Egito, para que lhe sejais por povo hereditário, como neste dia se vê.
21 And the Lord became angry against me because of your words, and he swore that I would not cross over the Jordan, nor enter into the excellent land, which he will give to you.
21 Também o Senhor se indignou contra mim por causa das vossas palavras, e jurou que eu não passaria o Jordão, e que não entraria na boa terra que o Senhor teu Deus te dará por herança.
22 Behold, I shall die on this soil. I shall not cross over the Jordan. You shall cross it, and you shall possess the singular land.
22 Porque eu nesta terra morrerei, não passarei o Jordão; porém vós o passareis, e possuireis aquela boa terra.
23 Be careful, lest you at some time forget the covenant of the Lord your God, which he has formed with you, and lest you make for yourselves a graven likeness of those things which the Lord has prohibited to be made.
23 Guardai-vos e não vos esqueçais da aliança do Senhor vosso Deus, que tem feito convosco, e não façais para vós escultura alguma, imagem de alguma coisa que o Senhor vosso Deus vos proibiu.
24 For the Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.
24 Porque o Senhor teu Deus é um fogo que consome, um Deus zeloso.
25 When you will have conceived sons and grandsons while abiding in the land, and if, having been deceived, you make for yourselves any likeness, accomplishing evil in the sight of the Lord your God, so as to provoke him to wrath,
25 Quando, pois, gerardes filhos, e filhos de filhos, e vos envelhecerdes na terra, e vos corromperdes, e fizerdes alguma escultura, semelhança de alguma coisa, e fizerdes o que é mau aos olhos do Senhor teu Deus, para o provocar à ira;
26 I call heaven and earth as witnesses this day, that you shall quickly perish from the land, which, when you have crossed over the Jordan, you will possess. You will not live in it for a long time; instead, the Lord will destroy you.
26 Hoje tomo por testemunhas contra vós o céu e a terra, que certamente logo perecereis da terra, a qual passais o Jordão para a possuir; não prolongareis os vossos dias nela, antes sereis de todo destruídos.
27 And he will scatter you among all the nations, and few of you will remain among those nations, to which the Lord will lead you.
27 E o Senhor vos espalhará entre os povos, e ficareis poucos em número entre as nações às quais o Senhor vos conduzirá.
28 And there, you will serve gods which were fabricated by the hands of men: gods of wood and of stone, who neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell.
28 E ali servireis a deuses que são obra de mãos de homens, madeira e pedra, que não vêem, nem ouvem, nem comem, nem cheiram.
29 And when you will seek the Lord your God in that place, you shall find him, if only you seek him with all your heart, and in all the tribulation of your soul.
29 Então dali buscarás ao Senhor teu Deus, e o acharás, quando o buscares de todo o teu coração e de toda a tua alma.
30 After all these things which have been foretold have found you, in the end time, you shall return to the Lord your God, and you will hear his voice.
30 Quando estiverdes em angústia, e todas estas coisas te alcançarem, então nos últimos dias voltarás para o Senhor teu Deus, e ouvirás a sua voz.
31 For the Lord your God is a merciful God. He will not abandon you, nor will he entirely destroy you, nor will he forget the covenant, which he swore to your fathers.
31 Porquanto o Senhor teu Deus é Deus misericordioso, e não te desamparará, nem te destruirá, nem se esquecerá da aliança que jurou a teus pais.
32 Inquire concerning the days of antiquity, which were before you, from the day when God created man upon the earth, from one end of heaven to another, if anything similar has ever occurred, or whether any such thing has ever been known,
32 Agora, pois, pergunta aos tempos passados, que te precederam desde o dia em que Deus criou o homem sobre a terra, desde uma extremidade do céu até à outra, se sucedeu jamais coisa tão grande como esta, ou se jamais se ouviu coisa como esta?
33 that a people would hear the voice of God, speaking from the midst of fire, just as you have heard it, and live,
33 Ou se algum povo ouviu a voz de Deus falando do meio do fogo, como tu a ouviste, e ficou vivo?
34 whether God has acted so as to enter and take for himself a nation from the midst of the nations, by means of tests, signs, and wonders, by means of fighting, and a strong hand, and an outstretched arm, and terrible visions, in accord with all the things which the Lord your God has accomplished for you in Egypt, in the sight of your eyes.
34 Ou se Deus intentou ir tomar para si um povo do meio de outro povo com provas, com sinais, e com milagres, e com peleja, e com mão forte, e com braço estendido, e com grandes espantos, conforme a tudo quanto o Senhor vosso Deus vos fez no Egito aos vossos olhos?
35 So may you know that the Lord himself is God, and there is no other beside him.
35 A ti te foi mostrado para que soubesses que o Senhor é Deus; nenhum outro há senão ele.
36 He has caused you to hear his voice from heaven, so that he might teach you. And he showed you his exceedingly great fire on earth, and you heard his words from the midst of the fire.
36 Desde os céus te fez ouvir a sua voz, para te ensinar, e sobre a terra te mostrou o seu grande fogo, e ouviste as suas palavras do meio do fogo.
37 For he loved your fathers, and he chose their offspring after them. And he led you away from Egypt, advancing before you with his great power,
37 E, porquanto amou teus pais, e escolheu a sua descendência depois deles, te tirou do Egito diante de si, com a sua grande força,
38 so as to wipe away, upon your arrival, nations, very great and stronger than you, and so as to lead you in, and to present to you their land as a possession, just as you discern in the present day.
38 Para lançar fora de diante de ti nações maiores e mais poderosas do que tu, para te introduzir e te dar a sua terra por herança, como neste dia se vê.
39 Therefore, know on this day and consider in your heart, that the Lord himself is God in heaven above, and on earth below, and there is no other.
39 Por isso hoje saberás, e refletirás no teu coração, que só o Senhor é Deus, em cima no céu e em baixo na terra; nenhum outro há.
40 Keep his precepts and commandments, which I am teaching to you, so that it may be well with you, and with your sons after you, and so that you may remain for a long time upon the land, which the Lord your God will give to you.”
40 E guardarás os seus estatutos e os seus mandamentos, que te ordeno hoje para que te vá bem a ti, e a teus filhos depois de ti, e para que prolongues os dias na terra que o Senhor teu Deus te dá para todo o sempre.
41 Then Moses set aside three cities, across the Jordan toward the eastern region,
41 Então Moisés separou três cidades além do Jordão, do lado do nascimento do sol;
42 so that anyone might flee to these if he has killed his neighbor unwillingly, who was not his enemy a day or two earlier, and so that he would be able to escape to one of these cities:
42 Para que ali se acolhesse o homicida que involuntariamente matasse o seu próximo a quem dantes não tivesse ódio algum; e se acolhesse a uma destas cidades, e vivesse;
43 Bezer in the wilderness, which is situated in the plains of the tribe of Ruben; and Ramoth in Gilead, which is in the tribe of Gad; and Golan in Bashan, which is in the tribe of Manasseh.
43 A Bezer, no deserto, no planalto, para os rubenitas; e a Ramote, em Gileade, para os gaditas; e a Golã, em Basã, para os manassitas.
44 This is the law, which Moses set forth before the sons of Israel.
44 Esta é, pois, a lei que Moisés propôs aos filhos de Israel.
45 And these are the testimonies and ceremonies as well as judgments, which he spoke to the sons of Israel, when they departed from Egypt,
45 Estes são os testemunhos, e os estatutos, e os juízos, que Moisés falou aos filhos de Israel, havendo saído do Egito;
46 across the Jordan, in the valley opposite the shrine of Peor, in the land of Sihon, the king of the Amorites, who lived at Heshbon, whom Moses struck down. Accordingly, the sons of Israel, having departed from Egypt,
46 Além do Jordão, no vale defronte de Bete-Peor, na terra de Siom, rei dos amorreus, que habitava em Hesbom, a quem feriu Moisés e os filhos de Israel, havendo eles saído do Egito.
47 possessed his land, and the land of Og, the king of Bashan, the land of the two kings of the Amorites, who were beyond the Jordan, toward the rising of the sun:
47 E tomaram a sua terra em possessão, como também a terra de Ogue, rei de Basã, dois reis dos amorreus, que estavam além do Jordão, do lado do nascimento do sol.
48 from Aroer, which is situated above the bank of the torrent Arnon, as far as Mount Zion, which is also called Hermon,
48 Desde Aroer, que está à margem do ribeiro de Arnom, até ao monte Sião, que é Hermom,
49 the entire plain across the Jordan, from its eastern region, as far as the sea of the wilderness, and even to the base of Mount Pisgah.
49 E toda a campina além do Jordão, do lado do oriente, até ao mar da campina, abaixo de Asdote-Pisga.
