1 સર્વ્વાન્ દ્વેષાન્ સર્વ્વાંશ્ચ છલાન્ કાપટ્યાનીર્ષ્યાઃ સમસ્તગ્લાનિકથાશ્ચ દૂરીકૃત્ય
1 Deponde, pois, toda malícia, toda astúcia, fingimentos, invejas e toda espécie de maledicência.
2 યુષ્માભિઃ પરિત્રાણાય વૃદ્ધિપ્રાપ્ત્યર્થં નવજાતશિશુભિરિવ પ્રકૃતં વાગ્દુગ્ધં પિપાસ્યતાં|
2 as newborn babes desire earnestly the pure mental milk of the word, that by it ye may grow up to salvation,
3 યતઃ પ્રભુ ર્મધુર એતસ્યાસ્વાદં યૂયં પ્રાપ્તવન્તઃ|
3 if indeed ye have tasted that the Lord {is} good.
4 અપરં માનુષૈરવજ્ઞાતસ્ય કિન્ત્વીશ્વરેણાભિરુચિતસ્ય બહુમૂલ્યસ્ય જીવત્પ્રસ્તરસ્યેવ તસ્ય પ્રભોઃ સન્નિધિમ્ આગતા

5 યૂયમપિ જીવત્પ્રસ્તરા ઇવ નિચીયમાના આત્મિકમન્દિરં ખ્રીષ્ટેન યીશુના ચેશ્વરતોષકાણામ્ આત્મિકબલીનાં દાનાર્થં પવિત્રો યાજકવર્ગો ભવથ|
5 yourselves also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
6 યતઃ શાસ્ત્રે લિખિતમાસ્તે, યથા, પશ્ય પાષાણ એકો ઽસ્તિ સીયોનિ સ્થાપિતો મયા| મુખ્યકોણસ્ય યોગ્યઃ સ વૃતશ્ચાતીવ મૂલ્યવાન્| યો જનો વિશ્વસેત્ તસ્મિન્ સ લજ્જાં ન ગમિષ્યતિ|
6 Because it is contained in the scripture: Behold, I lay in Zion a corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believes on him shall not be put to shame.
7 વિશ્વાસિનાં યુષ્માકમેવ સમીપે સ મૂલ્યવાન્ ભવતિ કિન્ત્વવિશ્વાસિનાં કૃતે નિચેતૃભિરવજ્ઞાતઃ સ પાષાણઃ કોણસ્ય ભિત્તિમૂલં ભૂત્વા બાધાજનકઃ પાષાણઃ સ્ખલનકારકશ્ચ શૈલો જાતઃ|
7 To you therefore who believe {is} the preciousness; but to the disobedient, the stone which the builders cast away as worthless, this is become head of {the} corner,
8 તે ચાવિશ્વાસાદ્ વાક્યેન સ્ખલન્તિ સ્ખલને ચ નિયુક્તાઃ સન્તિ|
8 and a stone of stumbling and rock of offence; {who} stumble at the word, being disobedient to which also they have been appointed.
9 કિન્તુ યૂયં યેનાન્ધકારમધ્યાત્ સ્વકીયાશ્ચર્ય્યદીપ્તિમધ્યમ્ આહૂતાસ્તસ્ય ગુણાન્ પ્રકાશયિતુમ્ અભિરુચિતો વંશો રાજકીયો યાજકવર્ગઃ પવિત્રા જાતિરધિકર્ત્તવ્યાઃ પ્રજાશ્ચ જાતાઃ|
9 But *ye* {are} a chosen race, a kingly priesthood, a holy nation, a people for a possession, that ye might set forth the excellencies of him who has called you out of darkness to his wonderful light;
10 પૂર્વ્વં યૂયં તસ્ય પ્રજા નાભવત કિન્ત્વિદાનીમ્ ઈશ્વરસ્ય પ્રજા આધ્વે| પૂર્વ્વમ્ અનનુકમ્પિતા અભવત કિન્ત્વિદાનીમ્ અનુકમ્પિતા આધ્વે|
10 who once {were} not a people, but now God's people; who were not enjoying mercy, but now have found mercy.
11 હે પ્રિયતમાઃ, યૂયં પ્રવાસિનો વિદેશિનશ્ચ લોકા ઇવ મનસઃ પ્રાતિકૂલ્યેન યોધિભ્યઃ શારીરિકસુખાભિલાષેભ્યો નિવર્ત્તધ્વમ્ ઇત્યહં વિનયે|
11 Beloved, I exhort {you}, as strangers and sojourners, to abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
12 દેવપૂજકાનાં મધ્યે યુષ્માકમ્ આચાર એવમ્ ઉત્તમો ભવતુ યથા તે યુષ્માન્ દુષ્કર્મ્મકારિલોકાનિવ પુન ર્ન નિન્દન્તઃ કૃપાદૃષ્ટિદિને સ્વચક્ષુર્ગોચરીયસત્ક્રિયાભ્ય ઈશ્વરસ્ય પ્રશંસાં કુર્ય્યુઃ|
12 having your conversation honest among the Gentiles, that {as to that} in which they speak against you as evildoers, they may through {your} good works, {themselves} witnessing {them}, glorify God in {the} day of visitation.
13 તતો હેતો ર્યૂયં પ્રભોરનુરોધાત્ માનવસૃષ્ટાનાં કર્તૃત્વપદાનાં વશીભવત વિશેષતો ભૂપાલસ્ય યતઃ સ શ્રેષ્ઠઃ,

14 દેશાધ્યક્ષાણાઞ્ચ યતસ્તે દુષ્કર્મ્મકારિણાં દણ્ડદાનાર્થં સત્કર્મ્મકારિણાં પ્રશંસાર્થઞ્ચ તેન પ્રેરિતાઃ|
14 or to rulers as sent by him, for vengeance on evildoers, and praise to them that do well.
15 ઇત્થં નિર્બ્બોધમાનુષાણામ્ અજ્ઞાનત્વં યત્ સદાચારિભિ ર્યુષ્માભિ ર્નિરુત્તરીક્રિયતે તદ્ ઈશ્વરસ્યાભિમતં|
15 Because so is the will of God, that by well-doing ye put to silence the ignorance of senseless men;
16 યૂયં સ્વાધીના ઇવાચરત તથાપિ દુષ્ટતાયા વેષસ્વરૂપાં સ્વાધીનતાં ધારયન્ત ઇવ નહિ કિન્ત્વીશ્વરસ્ય દાસા ઇવ|
16 as free, and not as having liberty as a cloak of malice, but as God's bondmen.
17 સર્વ્વાન્ સમાદ્રિયધ્વં ભ્રાતૃવર્ગે પ્રીયધ્વમ્ ઈશ્વરાદ્ બિભીત ભૂપાલં સમ્મન્યધ્વં|
17 Shew honour to all, love the brotherhood, fear God, honour the king.
18 હે દાસાઃ યૂયં સમ્પૂર્ણાદરેણ પ્રભૂનાં વશ્યા ભવત કેવલં ભદ્રાણાં દયાલૂનાઞ્ચ નહિ કિન્ત્વનૃજૂનામપિ|
18 Servants, {be} subject with all fear to your masters, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the ill-tempered.
19 યતો ઽન્યાયેન દુઃખભોગકાલ ઈશ્વરચિન્તયા યત્ ક્લેશસહનં તદેવ પ્રિયં|
19 For this {is} acceptable, if one, for conscience sake towards God, endure griefs, suffering unjustly.
20 પાપં કૃત્વા યુષ્માકં ચપેટાઘાતસહનેન કા પ્રશંસા? કિન્તુ સદાચારં કૃત્વા યુષ્માકં યદ્ દુઃખસહનં તદેવેશ્વરસ્ય પ્રિયં|
20 For what glory {is it}, if sinning and being buffeted ye shall bear {it}? but if, doing good and suffering, ye shall bear {it}, this is acceptable with God.
21 તદર્થમેવ યૂયમ્ આહૂતા યતઃ ખ્રીષ્ટોઽપિ યુષ્મન્નિમિત્તં દુઃખં ભુક્ત્વા યૂયં યત્ તસ્ય પદચિહ્નૈ ર્વ્રજેત તદર્થં દૃષ્ટાન્તમેકં દર્શિતવાન્|
21 For to this have ye been called; for Christ also has suffered for you, leaving you a model that ye should follow in his steps:
22 સ કિમપિ પાપં ન કૃતવાન્ તસ્ય વદને કાપિ છલસ્ય કથા નાસીત્|
22 who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth;
23 નિન્દિતો ઽપિ સન્ સ પ્રતિનિન્દાં ન કૃતવાન્ દુઃખં સહમાનો ઽપિ ન ભર્ત્સિતવાન્ કિન્તુ યથાર્થવિચારયિતુઃ સમીપે સ્વં સમર્પિતવાન્|
23 who, {when} reviled, reviled not again; {when} suffering, threatened not; but gave {himself} over into the hands of him who judges righteously;
24 વયં યત્ પાપેભ્યો નિવૃત્ય ધર્મ્માર્થં જીવામસ્તદર્થં સ સ્વશરીરેણાસ્માકં પાપાનિ ક્રુશ ઊઢવાન્ તસ્ય પ્રહારૈ ર્યૂયં સ્વસ્થા અભવત|
24 who himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, in order that, being dead to sins, we may live to righteousness: by whose stripes ye have been healed.
25 યતઃ પૂર્વ્વં યૂયં ભ્રમણકારિમેષા ઇવાધ્વં કિન્ત્વધુના યુષ્માકમ્ આત્મનાં પાલકસ્યાધ્યક્ષસ્ય ચ સમીપં પ્રત્યાવર્ત્તિતાઃ|
25 For ye were going astray as sheep, but have now returned to the shepherd and overseer of your souls.
