1 And it came to pass, at our sailing, having been parted from them, having run direct, we came to Coos, and the succeeding day to Rhodes, and thence to Patara,
1 Depois de nos separarmos dele, embarcamos e fomos em direção a Cós, e no dia seguinte a Rodes e dali a Pátara.
2 and having found a ship passing over to Phenicia, having gone on board, we sailed,
2 Encontramos aí um navio que ia partir para a Fenícia. Entramos e seguimos viagem.
3 and having discovered Cyprus, and having left it on the left, we were sailing to Syria, and did land at Tyre, for there was the ship discharging the lading.
3 Quando estávamos à vista de Chipre, deixando-a à esquerda, continuamos rumo à Síria e aportamos em Tiro, onde o navio devia ser descarregado.
4 And having found out the disciples, we tarried there seven days, and they said to Paul, through the Spirit, not to go up to Jerusalem;
4 Como achássemos uns discípulos, detivemo-nos com eles por sete dias. Eles, sob a inspiração do Espírito, aconselhavam Paulo que não subisse a Jerusalém.
5 but when it came that we completed the days, having gone forth, we went on, all bringing us on the way, with women and children, unto the outside of the city, and having bowed the knees upon the shore, we prayed,
5 Mas, passados que foram esses dias, partimos e seguimos a nossa viagem. Todos eles com suas mulheres e filhos acompanharam-nos até fora da cidade. Ajoelhados na praia, fizemos a nossa oração.
6 and having embraced one another, we embarked in the ship, and they returned to their own friends.
6 Despedimo-nos então e embarcamos, enquanto eles voltaram para suas casas.
7 And we, having finished the course, from Tyre came down to Ptolemais, and having saluted the brethren, we remained one day with them;
7 Navegando, fomos de Tiro a Ptolemaida, onde saudamos os irmãos, passando um dia com eles.
8 and on the morrow Paul and his company having gone forth, we came to Caesarea, and having entered into the house of Philip the evangelist -- who is of the seven -- we remained with him,
8 Partindo no dia seguinte, chegamos a Cesaréia e, entrando na casa de Filipe, o Evangelista, que era um dos sete {diáconos}, ficamos com ele.
9 and this one had four daughters, virgins, prophesying.
9 Tinha quatro filhas virgens que profetizavam.
10 And we remaining many more days, there came down a certain one from Judea, a prophet, by name Agabus,
10 Já estávamos aí fazia alguns dias, quando chegou da Judéia um profeta, chamado Ágabo.
11 and he having come unto us, and having taken up the girdle of Paul, having bound also his own hands and feet, said, 'Thus said the Holy Spirit, The man whose is this girdle -- so shall the Jews in Jerusalem bind, and they shall deliver him up to the hands of nations.'
11 Veio ter conosco, tomou o cinto de Paulo e, amarrando-se com ele pés e mãos, disse: Isto diz o Espírito Santo: assim os judeus em Jerusalém ligarão o homem a quem pertence este cinto e o entregarão às mãos dos pagãos.
12 And when we heard these things, we called upon him -- both we, and those of that place -- not to go up to Jerusalem,
12 A estas palavras, nós e os fiéis que eram daquele lugar, rogamos-lhe que não subisse a Jerusalém.
13 and Paul answered, 'What do you -- weeping, and crushing mine heart? for I, not only to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem, am ready, for the name of the Lord Jesus;'
13 Paulo, porém, respondeu: Por que chorais e me magoais o coração? Pois eu estou pronto não só a ser preso, mas também a morrer em Jerusalém pelo nome do Senhor Jesus.
14 and he not being persuaded, we were silent, saying, 'The will of the Lord be done.'
14 Como não pudéssemos persuadi-lo, desistimos, dizendo: Faça-se a vontade do Senhor!
15 And after these days, having taken our vessels, we were going up to Jerusalem,
15 Depois desses dias, terminados os preparativos, subimos a Jerusalém.
16 and there went also of the disciples from Caesarea with us, bringing with them him with whom we may lodge, a certain Mnason of Cyprus, an aged disciple.
16 Foram também conosco alguns dos discípulos de Cesaréia, que nos levaram à casa de Menason de Chipre, um antigo discípulo em cuja casa nos devíamos hospedar.
17 And we having come to Jerusalem, the brethren did gladly receive us,
17 À nossa chegada em Jerusalém, os irmãos nos receberam com alegria.
18 and on the morrow Paul was going in with us unto James, all the elders also came,
18 No dia seguinte, Paulo dirigiu-se conosco à casa de Tiago, onde todos os anciãos se reuniram.
19 and having saluted them, he was declaring, one by one, each of the things God did among the nations through his ministration,
19 Tendo-os saudado, contou-lhes uma por uma todas as coisas que Deus fizera entre os pagãos por seu ministério.
20 and they having heard, were glorifying the Lord. They said also to him, 'You see, brother, how many myriads there are of Jews who have believed, and all are zealous of the law,
20 Ouvindo isso, glorificaram a Deus e disseram a Paulo: Bem vês, irmão, quantos milhares de judeus abraçaram a fé sem abandonar seu zelo pela lei.
21 and they are instructed concerning you, that apostasy from Moses you do teach to all Jews among the nations, saying -- Not to circumcise the children, nor after the customs to walk;
21 Eles têm ouvido dizer de ti que ensinas os judeus, que vivem entre os gentios, a deixarem Moisés, dizendo que não devem circuncidar os seus filhos nem observar os costumes {mosaicos}.
22 what then is it? certainly the multitude it behooves to come together, for they will hear that you hast come.
22 Que se há de fazer? Sem dúvida, saberão de tua chegada.
23 'This, therefore, do that we say to you: We have four men having a vow on themselves,
23 Faze, pois, o que te vamos dizer. Temos aqui quatro homens que têm um voto.
24 these having taken, be purified with them, and be at expense with them, that they may shave the head, and all may know that the things of which they have been instructed concerning you are nothing, but you do walk -- yourself also -- the law keeping.
24 Toma-os contigo, faze com eles os ritos da purificação e paga por eles {a oferta obrigatória} para que rapem a cabeça. Então todos saberão que é falso quanto de ti ouviram, mas que também tu guardas a lei.
25 'And concerning those of the nations who have believed, we have written, having given judgment, that they observe no such thing, except to keep themselves both from idol-sacrifices, and blood, and a strangled thing, and whoredom.'
25 Mas a respeito dos que creram dentre os gentios, já escrevemos, ordenando que se abstenham do que for sacrificado aos ídolos, do sangue, da carne sufocada e da fornicação.
26 Then Paul, having taken the men, on the following day, with them having purified himself, was entering into the temple, announcing the fulfillment of the days of the purification, till the offering was offered for each one of them.
26 Então Paulo acompanhou aqueles homens no dia seguinte e, purificando-se com eles, entrou no templo e fez aí uma declaração do termo do voto, findo o qual se devia oferecer um sacrifício a favor de cada um deles.
27 And, as the seven days were about to be fully ended, the Jews from Asia having beheld him in the temple, were stirring up all the multitude, and they laid hands upon him,
27 Ao fim dos sete dias, os judeus, vindos da Ásia, viram Paulo no templo e amotinaram todo o povo. Lançando-lhe as mãos,
28 crying out, 'Men, Israelites, help! this is the man who, against the people, and the law, and this place, all everywhere is teaching; and further, also, Greeks he brought into the temple, and has defiled this holy place;'
28 gritavam: Ó judeus, valei-nos! Este é o homem que por toda parte prega a todos contra o povo, a lei e o templo. Além disso, introduziu até gregos no templo e profanou o lugar santo.
29 for they had seen before Trophimus, the Ephesian, in the city with him, whom they were supposing that Paul brought into the temple.
29 É que tinham visto Trófimo, de Éfeso, com ele na cidade, e pensavam que Paulo o tivesse introduzido no templo.
30 All the city also was moved and there was a running together of the people, and having laid hold on Paul, they were drawing him out of the temple, and immediately were the doors shut,
30 Alvoroçou-se toda a cidade com grande ajuntamento de povo. Agarraram Paulo e arrastaram-no para fora do templo, cujas portas se fecharam imediatamente.
31 and they seeking to kill him, a rumour came to the chief captain of the band that all Jerusalem has been thrown into confusion,
31 Como quisessem matá-lo, o tribuno da coorte foi avisado de que toda Jerusalém estava amotinada.
32 who, at once, having taken soldiers and centurions, ran down upon them, and they having seen the chief captain and the soldiers, did leave off beating Paul.
32 Ele tomou logo soldados e oficiais e correu aos manifestantes. Estes, ao avistarem o tribuno e os saldados, cessaram de espancar Paulo.
33 Then the chief captain, having come near, took him, and commanded him to be bound with two chains, and was inquiring who he may be, and what it is he has been doing,
33 Aproximando-se então o tribuno, prendeu-o e mandou acorrentá-lo com duas cadeias. Perguntou então quem era e o que havia feito.
34 and some were crying out one thing, and some another, among the multitude, and not being able to know the certainty because of the tumult, he commanded him to be carried to the castle,
34 Na multidão todos gritavam de tal modo que, não podendo apurar a verdade por causa do tumulto, mandou que fosse recolhido à cidadela.
35 and when he came upon the steps, it happened he was borne by the soldiers, because of the violence of the multitude,
35 Quando Paulo chegou às escadas, foi carregado pelos soldados, por causa do furor da multidão.
36 for the crowd of the people was following after, crying, 'Away with him.'
36 O povo o seguia em massa dizendo aos gritos: À morte
37 And Paul being about to be led into the castle, said to the chief captain, 'Is it permitted to me to say anything unto you?' and he said, 'Greek do you know?
37 Quando estava para ser introduzido na fortaleza, Paulo perguntou ao tribuno: É-me permitido dizer duas palavras? Este respondeu: Sabes o grego!
38 are not you, then, the Egyptian who before these days made an uprising, and did lead into the desert the four thousand men of the assassins?'
38 Não és tu, portanto, aquele egípcio que há tempos levantou um tumulto e conduziu ao deserto quatro mil extremistas?
39 And Paul said, 'I, indeed, am a man, a Jew, of Tarsus of Cilicia, of no mean city a citizen; and I beseech you, suffer me to speak unto the people.'
39 Paulo replicou: Eu sou judeu, natural de Tarso, na Cilícia, cidadão dessa ilustre cidade. Mas rogo-te que me permitas falar ao povo.
40 And he having given him leave, Paul having stood upon the stairs, did beckon with the hand to the people, and there having been a great silence, he spake unto them in the Hebrew dialect, saying:
40 O tribuno lho permitiu. Paulo, em pé nos degraus, acenou ao povo com a mão e se fez um grande silêncio. Falou em língua hebraica do seguinte modo:
