1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
1 Ainda que eu falasse as línguas dos homens e dos anjos, e não tivesse caridade, eu me tornaria como o bronze ressoante ou um címbalo tilintante.
2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
2 E ainda que eu tivesse o dom de profecia, e entendesse todos os mistérios, e todo o conhecimento, e ainda que eu tivesse toda a fé, de tal maneira que eu pudesse remover montes e não tivesse caridade, eu nada seria.
3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.
3 E ainda que eu distribuísse todos os meus bens para alimentar os pobres, e ainda que eu entregasse o meu corpo para ser queimado, e não tivesse caridade, de nada me aproveitaria.
4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
4 A caridade é sofredora, e é benigna; a caridade não é invejosa; a caridade não se vangloria, não se envaidece,
5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not its own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
5 não se comporta indecentemente, não busca os seus interesses, não se irrita facilmente, não pensa mal;
6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
6 não se regozija com a iniquidade, mas regozija com a verdade;
7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
7 sofre todas as coisas; crê em todas as coisas, espera em todas as coisas, suporta todas as coisas.
8 Charity never faileth: but whether there are prophecies, they shall be done away; whether there are tongues, they shall cease; whether there is knowledge, it shall vanish away.
8 A caridade nunca falha; mas, havendo profecias, elas falharão; havendo línguas, cessarão; havendo conhecimento, desaparecerá.
9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
9 Porque em parte conhecemos, e em parte profetizamos.
10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
10 Mas, quando o que é perfeito vier, então, o que o é em parte será aniquilado.
11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
11 Quando eu era criança, falava como criança, entendia como criança, pensava como criança; mas quando eu me tornei homem, eu coloquei de lado as coisas infantis.
12 For now we see in a mirror, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
12 Porque agora vemos através de um espelho, sombriamente; mas então veremos face a face; agora eu conheço em parte, mas então conhecerei como também eu sou conhecido.
13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
13 E agora permanecem a fé, a esperança e a caridade, estas três; mas a maior destas é a caridade.
