1 A Song of Ascents. Of David.
1 Se o Senhor não estivesse do nosso lado; que Israel o repita:
2 If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, let Israel now say--
2 Se o Senhor não estivesse do nosso lado quando os inimigos nos atacaram,
3 if it had not been the LORD who was on our side, when men rose up against us,
3 eles já nos teriam engolido vivos, quando se enfureceram contra nós;
4 then they would have swallowed us up alive, when their anger was kindled against us;
4 as águas nos teriam arrastado e as torrentes nos teriam afogado;
5 then the flood would have swept us away, the torrent would have gone over us;
5 sim, as águas violentas nos teriam afogado!
6 then over us would have gone the raging waters.
6 Bendito seja o Senhor, que não nos entregou para sermos dilacerados pelos dentes deles.
7 Blessed be the LORD, who has not given us as prey to their teeth!
7 Como um pássaro escapamos da armadilha do caçador; a armadilha foi quebrada, e nós escapamos.
8 We have escaped as a bird from the snare of the fowlers; the snare is broken, and we have escaped! [ (Psalms 124:9) Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth. ]
8 O nosso socorro está no nome do Senhor, que fez os céus e a terra.
