1 O God, my GOD, thou art, Earnestly do I desire thee,My soul thirsteth for thee, My flesh fainteth for thee, In a landdry, and weary for want of water,
1 Ó Deus, tu és meu Deus; eu te busco de todo o coração. Minha alma tem sede de ti; todo o meu corpo anseia por ti nesta terra seca, exausta e sem água.
2 In like manner as, in the sanctuary, I have had vision of thee, To behold thy power and thy glory.
2 Eu te vi em teu santuário e contemplei teu poder e tua glória.
3 Because better is thy lovingkindness than life, My lips, aloud shall praise thee!
3 Teu amor é melhor que a própria vida; com meus lábios te louvarei.
4 Thus, will I bless thee while I live, In thy Name, will I lift up mine outspread hands:
4 Sim, te louvarei enquanto viver; a ti em oração levantarei as mãos.
5 As with fatness and richness, shall my soul be satisfied, And, with joyfully shouting lips, shall my mouth utter praise.
5 Tu me satisfazes mais que um rico banquete; com cânticos de alegria te louvarei.
6 Should I call thee to mind upon my conch, In the watches of the night, would I breathe soft speech of thee.
6 Quando me deito, fico acordado pensando em ti, meditando a teu respeito a noite toda.
7 For thou hast become a help unto me,And, in the shadow of thy wings, will I shout for joy.
7 Pois tu és meu auxílio; à sombra de tuas asas canto de alegria.
8 My soul hath run clinging to thee, On me, hath thy right hand laid hold.
8 Minha alma se apega a ti; tua forte mão direita me sustenta.
9 When, they, to crush it, would seek my life, They shall go into the lower parts of the earth:
9 Aqueles, porém, que tramam me destruir descerão às profundezas da terra.
10 Every one shall be given up into the power of the sword, The portion of jackals, shall they become.
10 Morrerão pela espada e servirão de comida para os chacais.
11 But, the king, shall rejoice in God,Every one shall glory who sweareth by him, For the mouth of them who speak falsehood, shall be stopped.
11 O rei, contudo, se alegrará em Deus; todos que juraram falar a verdade o louvarão, mas os mentirosos serão calados.
