1 Then Naomi her mother-in-law said to her,My daughter! shall I not seek for thee a place of rest, in which it may be well with thee?
1 Um dia Noemi disse a Rute: — Minha filha, preciso arranjar um marido para você, a fim de que você tenha um lar.
2 Now, therefore, is not, Boaz, of our kindred, with whose maidens thou hast been? Lo! he is winnowing the barley threshing-floor, to-night!
2 Você lembra que Boaz, o homem que a deixou trabalhar com as suas empregadas, é um dos nossos parentes? Pois bem! Esta noite ele vai debulhar a cevada .
3 Thou wilt, therefore, bathe thee, and anoint thee, and put thine apparel upon thee, and go down to the threshing-floor,do not make thyself known to the man, until he have done eating and drinking.
3 Faça o seguinte: lave-se, ponha perfume e vista o seu melhor vestido. Depois vá até o lugar onde Boaz está trabalhando, mas não o deixe saber que você está ali, até que ele acabe de comer e de beber.
4 And it shall be, when he lieth down, that thou shalt mark the place where he doth lie, and shalt go in and turn aside the covering of his feet, and lay thee down,and, he, will tell thee what thou shalt do.
4 Quando Boaz for dormir, olhe bem onde ele vai se deitar. Então vá, levante a coberta dos pés dele e deite-se ali. Ele dirá o que você deve fazer.
5 And she said unto her,All that thou sayest, will I do.
5 Rute respondeu: — Vou fazer tudo o que a senhora disse.
6 So she went down to the threshing-floor,and did according to all that her mother-in-law had commanded her.
6 Ela foi ao lugar onde debulhavam as espigas e fez tudo o que a sua sogra havia mandado.
7 And, when Boaz had eaten, and drunk, and his heart was glad, he went in to lie down at the end of the heap of corn. Then came she in softly, and turned aside the covering of his feet, and laid her down.
7 Quando Boaz acabou de comer e de beber, ficou um pouco alegre e foi dormir perto de um monte de cevada. Então Rute veio de mansinho, levantou a coberta dos pés dele e se deitou ali.
8 And it came to pass, in the middle of the night, that the man started up, and turned,and lo! a woman, lying at his feet.
8 No meio da noite ele acordou de repente, sentou-se e ficou muito admirado de encontrar uma mulher deitada perto dos seus pés.
9 And he said, Who art, thou? And she said, I, am Ruth, thy handmaid, spread, therefore, thy wing over thy handmaid, for, a kinsman, thou art.
9 Ele perguntou: — Quem é você? — Eu sou Rute, a sua empregada! — respondeu ela. — O senhor é nosso parente chegado e por isso tem o dever de me proteger.
10 And he saidBlessed, be thou of Yahweh, my daughter, for thou hast made thy last lovingkindness better than the first,in not following after young men, whether poor, or rich.
10 Boaz respondeu: — Que o
11 Now, therefore, my daughter, do not fear, whatsoever thou shalt say, I will do for thee,for all the gate of my people doth know, that, a virtuous woman, thou art.
11 Agora, minha filha, não tenha medo. Na cidade toda gente sabe que você é uma mulher direita. Vou fazer tudo o que me pede.
12 And, now, although it is true that, a kinsman, am I, yet is there a kinsman nearer than I.
12 De fato, sou seu parente chegado e sou responsável por você. Mas acontece que há um homem que também é seu parente e até mais chegado do que eu.
13 Tarry the night, and it shall be, in the morning, if he will act as kinsman to thee, well, let him so act, but, if he inclineth not to act as kinsman to thee, then will, I, so act to theeby the life of Yahweh,Lie still, until the morning.
13 Fique aqui o resto da noite, e de manhã nós veremos se ele quer ser responsável por você. Se ele quiser, muito bem; mas, se não quiser, prometo por Deus, o Senhor , que ficarei com essa responsabilidade. Agora deite-se e durma de novo.
14 So she lay at his feet, until the morning, and rose up before one could know his neighbour. And he saidDo not let it be known that a woman came into the threshing-floor.
14 Então Rute passou o resto da noite deitada aos pés dele. Enquanto ainda estava escuro, ela se levantou para não ser vista, pois Boaz não queria que ninguém soubesse que uma mulher havia ido lá.
15 And he saidBring the cloak that is upon thee, and hold it. So she held it,and he measured six measures of barley, and laid it upon her, and he went into the city.
15 Então Boaz disse: — Tire a sua Ela estendeu, e ele despejou na capa uns vinte quilos de cevada e a ajudou a pôr no ombro. Aí Rute voltou para a cidade.
16 And, when she came unto her mother-in- law, she saidWho art, thou, my daughter? And she told her all that the man had done for her.
16 Quando ela chegou a casa, a sua sogra perguntou: — Como foram as coisas, minha filha? Rute contou tudo o que Boaz tinha feito por ela. E disse ainda:
17 And she saidThese six measures of barley, gave he unto me,for he said, Do not go in empty, unto thy mother-in- law.
17 — Ele também me deu toda esta cevada e disse: “Não volte para casa sem levar alguma coisa para a sua sogra.”
18 And she saidAbide, my daughter, until that thou get to know, how the matter will fall out,for the man will not rest, except he have finished the thing to-day.
18 Então Noemi disse: — Agora, minha filha, tenha paciência e espere para ver o que vai acontecer. Pois Boaz não vai descansar enquanto não resolver esse assunto, ainda hoje.
