¹ Now, on the twenty-fourth day of this month, were the sons of Israel gathered together, with fasting and with sackcloth, having earth upon them.

¹ Ora, no vigésimo quarto dia deste mês, os filhos de Israel estavam reunidos em jejum, e com roupas de saco, e terra sobre eles.

² And the seed of Israel separated themselves from all the sons of the foreigner,and stood and made confession over their own sins, and the iniquities of their fathers.

² E a semente de Israel separou-se de todos os estrangeiros, puseram-se em pé e confessaram os seus pecados, e as iniquidades dos seus pais.

³ So they stood up in their place, and read in the book of the law of Yahweh their God, a fourth part of the day,and, a fourth part, they were making confession and bowing themselves down, unto Yahweh their God.

³ E eles se puseram em pé no seu caminho, e leram o livro da lei do SENHOR seu Deus uma quarta parte do dia; e na outra quarta parte eles confessaram, e adoraram o SENHOR seu Deus.

⁴ Then stood up on the platform of the Levites, Jeshua and Bani, Kadmiel, Shebaniah, Bunni, Sherebiah, Bani, Chenani,and made outcry, with a loud voice, unto Yahweh their God.

⁴ Então, se levantaram sobre os degraus, dos levitas: Jesuá, e Bani, Cadmiel, Sebanias, Buni, Serebias, Bani e Quenani, e clamaram com voz alta ao SENHOR seu Deus.

⁵ Then said the LevitesJeshua and Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabneiah, Sherebiah, Hodiah, Shebaniah, Pethahiah, Stand up, bless Yahweh your God, from age to age,Yea let them bless thy glorious Name, which is exalted above all blessing and praise.

⁵ Então, os levitas, Jesuá, e Cadmiel, Bani, Hasabneias, Serebias, Hodias, Sebanias e Petaías, disseram: Levantai-vos e bendizei ao SENHOR vosso Deus para todo o sempre; e bendito seja o teu glorioso nome, o qual é exaltado acima de toda bênção e louvor.

⁶ Thou, art Yahweh, thou alone, Thou, didst make the heavens, the heavens of heavens, and all their host, the earth and all that is thereon, the seas and all that is therein, and, thou, holdest them all in life,and, the host of the heavens, unto thee, are bowing down.

⁶ Tu, só tu, és SENHOR; tu fizeste o céu, o céu dos céus, com todo o seu exército, a terra e todas as coisas que nela estão, os mares, e tudo o que nele está, e tu a todos preservas; e o exército do céu te adora.

⁷ Thou, art Yahweh, God, who didst choose Abram, and broughtest him forth out of Ur of the Chaldees,and madest his name Abraham;

⁷ Tu és o SENHOR, o Deus que escolheu Abrão, e o tiraste de Ur dos caldeus, e lhe deste o nome de Abraão;

⁸ and didst find his heart faithful before thee, and didst solemnize with him a covenant, to give the land of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, and the Perizzite, and the Jebusite, and the Girgashite,to give it unto his seed,and didst confirm thy words, for, righteous, thou art.

⁸ e achaste o seu coração fiel diante de ti, e com ele fizeste um pacto para dares à sua semente a terra dos cananeus, dos heteus, dos amorreus, e dos ferezeus, e dos jebuseus, e dos girgaseus, e cumpriste as tuas palavras; porque tu és justo.

⁹ Yea thou sawest the affliction of our fathers, in Egypt, and, their outcry, thou heardest, by the Red Sea;

⁹ E viste a aflição dos nossos pais no Egito, e ouviste o seu clamor junto ao mar Vermelho;

¹⁰ and didst grant signs and wonders against Pharaoh, and against all his servants, and against all the people of his land, for thou hadst taken note, that they ruled proudly over them,and so thou didst make thee a name, as at this day.

¹⁰ e mostraste sinais e maravilhas sobre Faraó, e sobre todos os seus servos, e sobre todo o povo da sua terra; pois tu sabias que eles agiam soberbamente contra eles. Assim, conquistaste para ti um nome, como é neste dia.

¹¹ And, the sea, didst thou cleave asunder before them, and they passed through the midst of the sea, on dry ground,whereas, their pursuers, thou didst cast into the depths like a stone, into the mighty waters,

¹¹ E dividiste o mar diante deles, de modo que seguiram pelo meio do mar em terra seca; e os seus perseguidores lançaste tu nas profundezas, como uma pedra nas águas poderosas.

¹² And, in a pillar of cloud, didst thou lead them, by day,and in a pillar of fire, by night, to light up for them the way wherein they should go.

¹² Além disso, tu os guiavas de dia com uma coluna de nuvem; e à noite com uma coluna de fogo, para dá-los luz no caminho no qual deveriam seguir.

¹³ And, upon Mount Sinai, camest thou down, and spakest with them out of the heavens,and gavest them just regulations, and faithful laws, good statutes and commandments.

¹³ Tu desceste também sobre o monte Sinai, e do céu falaste com eles, e deste-lhes justos juízos, e leis verdadeiras, bons estatutos e mandamentos;

¹⁴ And, thy holy sabbath, didst thou make known to them,and, commandments and statutes and a law, didst thou command them, through Moses thy servant.

¹⁴ e fizeste-lhes conhecido o teu santo shabat, e lhes ordenaste preceitos, estatutos e leis, pela mão de Moisés, o teu servo;

¹⁵ And, bread out of the heavens, didst thou give them, for their hunger, and, waters out of the cliff, didst thou bring them, for their thirst,and badest them go in to take possession of the land, which thou hadst lifted thy hand to give them.

¹⁵ e deste-lhes pão do céu para a sua fome, e extraíste para eles água da rocha para a sua sede, e lhes prometeste que entrassem para possuírem a terra que com juramento lhes tinhas prometido dar.

¹⁶ But, they and our fathers, dealt proudly,and hardened their neck, and hearkened not unto thy commandments;

¹⁶ Todavia, eles e os nossos pais agiram soberbamente, e endureceram o seu pescoço, e não atentaram aos teus mandamentos,

¹⁷ but refused to hearken, neither kept in mind thy wonders which thou hadst done with them, but they hardened their neck, and appointed a head that they might return to their servitude, in their perverseness. But, thou, art a God of forgivenesses, gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger and abounding in lovingkindness, and didst not forsake them.

¹⁷ e se recusaram a obedecer, nem atentaram para as maravilhas que tu fizeste no meio deles; mas endureceram o seu pescoço, e na sua rebelião, indicaram um capitão para retornarem à servidão; mas tu és um Deus pronto a perdoar, gracioso e misericordioso, tardio em irar-se, e de grande bondade, e não os abandonastes.

¹⁸ Yea, although they made them a molten calf, and said, This, is thy God, that brought thee up out of Egypt,and wrought great insults,

¹⁸ Sim, quando fizeram para si um bezerro fundido, e disseram: Este é o teu Deus que te tirou do Egito, e tinham cometido grandes provocações;

¹⁹ yet, thou, in thine abounding compassions, didst not forsake them in the desert,the pillar of cloud, departed not from over them by day, to lead them in the way, nor the pillar of fire by night, to light up for them the way wherein they should go.

¹⁹ todavia, tu nas tuas múltiplas misericórdias não os abandonastes no deserto; a coluna de nuvem não se apartou deles de dia, para guiá-los no caminho; nem a coluna de fogo à noite, para mostrar-lhes a luz, e o caminho no qual deveriam seguir.

²⁰ And, thy Good Spirit, thou gavest, to instruct them,and, thy manna, thou withheldest not from their mouth, and, water, thou gavest them, for their thirst.

²⁰ Deste também o teu bom espírito para instruí-los, e não retiraste o teu maná da sua boca, e deste-lhes água para a sua sede.

²¹ Yea, forty years, didst thou sustain them in the desert, they lacked nothing,their mantles, waxed not old and, their feet, swelled not.

²¹ Sim, quarenta anos os sustentaste no deserto, de modo que nada lhes faltou; as suas roupas não se envelheceram, e os seus pés não incharam.

²² And thou gavest them kingdoms, and peoples, and allotted to each of them a corner,and they took possession of the land of Sihon, and the land of the king of Heshbon, and the land of Og king of Bashan.

²² Além disso, entregaste a eles reinos e nações, e dividiste-os em cantos; assim possuíram a terra de Seom, e a terra do rei de Hesbom, e a terra de Ogue, rei de Basã.

²³ Their children also, didst thou multiply, like the stars of the heavens,and didst bring them into the land which thou hadst promised their fathers they should enter to possess;

²³ Também multiplicaste os seus filhos como as estrelas do céu, e os trouxeste para dentro da terra, acerca da qual havias prometido aos seus pais, para que pudessem entrar para possuí-la.

²⁴ so the children entered and possessed the land, and thou subduedst before them the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, and deliveredst them into their hand,with their kings, and the peoples of the land, to do with them according to their pleasure;

²⁴ Assim, entraram os filhos e possuíram a terra, e tu subjugaste diante deles os habitantes da terra, os cananeus, e lhes entregaste nas suas mãos, com os seus reis, e o povo da terra, para que eles pudessem fazer deles como quisessem.

²⁵ and they captured fortified cities and a fat soil, and took possession of houses full of every good thing, wells digged, vineyards and oliveyards and fruit-trees, in abundance,so they did eat and were filled and became fat, and luxuriated in thy great goodness.

²⁵ E eles tomaram cidades fortes, e uma terra gorda, e possuíram casas cheias de todos os bens, poços cavados, vinhedos, e olivais, e árvores frutíferas em abundância; assim, comeram e se fartaram, e engordaram, e se deleitaram na tua grande bondade.

²⁶ But they murmured and rebelled against thee, and cast thy law behind their back, and, thy prophets, they slew, who testified against them that they might turn them back unto thee,and they wrought great insults.

²⁶ Todavia, eles foram desobedientes, e se rebelaram contra ti, e lançaram as suas leis para trás das suas costas, e mataram os teus profetas que testificavam contra eles para convertê-los a ti, e cometeram grandes provocações.

²⁷ Therefore didst thou deliver them into the hand of their adversaries, who distressed them,and, in the time of their distress, they made outcry unto thee, and, thou, out of the heavens, didst hear, and, according to thine abounding compassions, gavest them saviors, that they might save them out of the hand of their adversaries.

²⁷ Por isso, tu os entregaste na mão dos seus inimigos, que os atormentaram; e no tempo da sua tribulação, quando eles clamaram a ti, tu os ouviste do céu; e de acordo com as tuas múltiplas misericórdias deste a eles libertadores, que os salvaram da mão dos seus inimigos.

²⁸ But, as soon as they had rest, they again wrought wickedness before thee,and thou didst leave them in the hand of their enemies, who bare rule over them, yet, when they again made outcry unto thee, thou, from the heavens, didst hear and didst deliver them according to thy compassions, many times;

²⁸ Porém, tendo alcançado repouso, fizeram o mal novamente diante de ti; portanto tu os deixaste na mão dos seus inimigos, de modo que tiveram o domínio sobre eles; todavia, quando eles retornaram, e clamaram a ti, tu os ouviste do céu; e muitas vezes tu os livraste, segundo as tuas misericórdias;

²⁹ and didst testify against them, to bring them back unto thy law, yet, they, dealt proudly, and hearkened not unto thy commandments, and, against thy regulations, they sinned, the whichif any son of earth shall dothen shall he live by them,and yielded a rebellious shoulder, and, their neck, they stiffened, and hearkened not.

²⁹ e testificaste contra eles, para os fazerdes voltar para a tua lei; contudo, eles agiram soberbamente, e não atentaram aos teus mandamentos, mas pecaram contra os teus juízos (pelos quais, se um homem praticar, viverá por eles); e encolheram os ombros, e endureceram o pescoço, e não quiseram ouvir.

³⁰ And thou didst suffer many years to pass over them, and didst testify against them by thy Spirit through thy prophets, yet did they not give ear,therefore didst thou deliver them into the hand of the peoples of the lands.

³⁰ Todavia, muitos anos tu os aturaste, e testificaste contra eles pelo teu Espírito nos teus profetas; contudo eles não quiseram dar ouvidos; por isso tu os deste nas mãos dos povos das terras.

³¹ Yet, in thine abounding compassions, thou didst not make of them an end, neither didst thou forsake them,for, a GOD gracious and full of compassion, thou art.

³¹ Contudo, por causa das tuas grandes misericórdias tu não os consumiste por completo, nem os abandonaste; porque tu és um Deus gracioso e misericordioso.

³² Now, therefore, O our Godthe GOD great, mighty, and fearfulkeeping the covenant and the lovingkindness, let not all the trouble seem little before thee, which hath come upon uson our kings, on our rulers, and on our priests, and on our prophets, and on our fathers, and on all thy people,from the days of the kings of Assyria, until this day.

³² Agora, portanto, Deus nosso, o grande, o poderoso, e o terrível Deus, que guardas o pacto e a misericórdia, não permitas que toda a tribulação pareça pouca diante de ti, que veio sobre nós, sobre os nossos reis, sobre os nossos príncipes, e sobre os nossos sacerdotes, e sobre os nossos profetas, e sobre os nossos pais, e sobre todo o teu povo, desde o tempo dos reis da Assíria até este dia.

³³ But, thou, art righteous, as to all that hath fallen upon us,for, faithfulness, hast thou wrought, whereas, we, have been lawless;

³³ Não obstante, tu és justo em tudo que tem vindo sobre nós, pois tu tens agido retamente, mas nós temos agido iniquamente;

³⁴ and, our kings, our rulers, our priests, and our fathers, have not kept thy law,nor given heed unto thy commandments, or unto thy testimonies, wherewith thou hast testified against them.

³⁴ tampouco têm os nossos reis, os nossos príncipes, os nossos sacerdotes, nem os nossos pais guardado a tua lei, nem atentado aos teus mandamentos e aos teus testemunhos, com os quais testificaste contra eles.

³⁵ But, they, in their kingdom, and in thine abundant goodness which thou gavest them, and in the broad and fat land which thou didst set before them, did not serve thee, neither turned they from their wicked doings.

³⁵ Porquanto eles não têm te servido no seu reino, e na tua grande bondade que tu lhes deste, e na vasta e gorda terra que lhes deste, tampouco se desviaram das suas obras iníquas.

³⁶ Lo! we, to-day, are bondmeneven upon the land which thou gavest our fathers to eat the fruit thereof and the good thereof, lo! we, are bondmen;

³⁶ Eis que somos servos neste dia, e quanto à terra que deste aos nossos pais para dela comer o seu fruto e o seu bem, eis que somos nela servos;

³⁷ and, the increase thereof, aboundeth unto the kings whom thou hast set over us, for our sins,and, over our bodies, are they bearing rule, and over our cattle, at their pleasure, and, in great distress, we are.

³⁷ e ela produz muito incremento aos reis que puseste sobre nós por causa dos nossos pecados; além disso, eles têm domínio sobre os nossos corpos, e sobre o nosso gado, como lhes apraz, e nós estamos em grande aflição.

³⁸ Seeing, therefore, all this, we, are plighting our faith, and putting it in writing,and, upon the sealed scroll, are our rulers, our Levites, our priests.

³⁸ E por causa de tudo isso fazemos um firme pacto e o escrevemos; e os nossos príncipes, levitas, e sacerdotes o selam.
