1 And it came to pass, when Jabin king of Hazor heard, that he sent unto Jobab king of Madon, and unto the king of Shimron, and unto the king of Achshaph;
1 Quando Jabim, rei de Hazor, ouviu isso, enviou mensageiros a Jobabe, rei de Madom, e ao rei de Sinrom, e ao rei de Acsafe,
2 and unto the kings who were on the north in the hill country and in the waste plain south of Chinneroth, and in the lowland,and in the heights of Dor, on the west:
2 e aos reis que estavam ao norte, na região montanhosa, na Arabá ao sul de Quinerote, na baixada, e nos planaltos de Dor ao ocidente;
3 the Canaanite on the east and on the west, and the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite and the Jebusite, in the hill country,and the Hivite, under Hermon, in the land of Mizpah;
3 ao cananeu do oriente e do ocidente, ao amorreu, ao heteu, ao perizeu, ao jebuseu na região montanhosa, e ao heveu ao pé de Hermom na terra de Mizpá.
4 and they came outthey, and all their hosts with them, much people, like the sand that is upon the seashore for multitude,with horses and chariots very many.
4 Saíram pois eles, com todos os seus exércitos, muito povo, em multidão como a areia que está na praia do mar, e muitíssimos cavalos e carros.
5 And, when all these kings were gathered together, they came in, and encamped as one man, at the waters of Merom, to fight with Israel.
5 Todos esses reis, reunindo-se, vieram e juntos se acamparam às águas de Merom, para pelejarem contra Israel.
6 Then said Yahweh unto JoshuaDo not fear because of them, for, to-morrow, about this time, am I going to deliver up all of them, slain, before Israel,their horses, shalt thou ham-string, and, their chariots, shalt thou burn up with fire.
6 Disse o Senhor a Josué: Não os temas, pois amanhã a esta hora eu os entregarei todos mortos diante de Israel. Os seus cavalos jarretarás, e os seus carros queimarás a fogo.
7 So Joshua, and all the army with him, came in upon them, by the waters of Merom, suddenly, and fell upon them.
7 Josué, pois, com toda a gente de guerra, sobreveio-lhes de repente às águas de Merom, e deu sobre eles.
8 And Yahweh delivered them up into the hand of Israel, and they smote them, and chased them as far as great Zidon, and as far as Misrephoth-maim, and as far as the valley of Mizpeh, eastward,yea they smote them until they left them not a survivor.
8 E o Senhor os entregou na mão dos israelitas, que os feriram e os perseguiram até a grande Sidom, e até Misrefote-Maim, e até o vale de Mizpe ao oriente; e feriram-nos até não lhes deixar nem sequer um.
9 And Joshua did unto them, as Yahweh had said unto him,their horses, he ham-strung, and, their chariots, burned he up with fire.
9 Fez-lhes Josué como o Senhor lhe dissera: os seus cavalos jarretou, e os seus carros queimou a fogo.
10 Then Joshua turned back, at that time, and captured Hazor, and, the king thereof, smote he with the sword,for, Hazor, aforetime, was the head of all these kingdoms.
10 Naquele tempo Josué voltou e tomou também a Hazor, e feriu à espada ao seu rei, porquanto Hazor dantes era a cabeça de todos estes reinos.
11 And they smote all the souls that were therein, with the edge of the sword, devoting them to destruction, there was left no breathing thing,and, Hazor, burned he up with fire.
11 E passaram ao fio da espada a todos os que nela havia, destruindo-os totalmente; nada restou do que tinha fôlego; e a Hazor ele queimou a fogo.
12 And, all the cities of these kings, and all the kings thereof, did Joshua capture, and he smote them with the edge of the sword, devoting them to destruction,as Moses, the servant of Yahweh, commanded.
12 Josué, pois, tomou todas as cidades desses reis, e a eles mesmos, e os passou ao fio da espada, destruindo-os totalmente, como ordenara Moisés, servo do Senhor.
13 Yet, none of the cities that were still standing upon their mound, did Israel burn, none but Hazor alone, did Joshua burn.
13 Contudo, quanto às cidades que se achavam sobre os seus altos, a nenhuma delas queimou Israel, salvo somente a Hazor; a essa Josué queimou.
14 But, all the spoil of these cities, and the cattle, did the sons of Israel take as their prey,nevertheless, all the human beings, smote they with the edge of the sword, until they had destroyed them, they left remaining no breathing thing.
14 Mas todos os despojos dessas cidades, e o gado, tomaram-nos os filhos de Israel como presa para si; porém feriram ao fio da espada todos os homens, até os destruírem; nada deixaram do que tinha fôlego de vida.
15 As Yahweh commanded Moses his servant, so, Moses commanded Joshua, and, so, Joshua, did, he set aside nothing of all that Yahweh commanded Moses.
15 Como o Senhor ordenara a Moisés, seu servo, assim Moisés ordenou a Josué, e assim Josué o fez; não deixou de fazer coisa alguma de tudo o que o Senhor ordenara a Moisés.
16 So Joshua took all this landthe hill country, and all the south, and all the land of Goshen, and the lowland, and the waste plain,and the hill country of Israel, and the lowland thereof:
16 Assim Josué tomou toda aquela terra, a região montanhosa, todo o Negebe, e toda a terra de Gósem e a baixada, e a Arabá, e a região montanhosa de Israel com a sua baixada,
17 from Mount Halak, that goeth up to Seir, even as far as Baal-gad, in the valley of the Lebanon, under Mount Hermon,and, all their kings, he captured, and smote them, and put them to death.
17 desde o monte Halaque, que sobe a Seir, até Baal-Gade, no vale do Líbano, ao pé do monte Hermom; também tomou todos os seus reis, e os feriu e os matou.
18 Many days, did Joshua, with all these kings, make war.
18 Por muito tempo Josué fez guerra contra todos esses reis.
19 There was not a city that made peace with the sons of Israel, save the Hivites dwelling in Gibeon,the whole, took they in battle.
19 Não houve cidade que fizesse paz com os filhos de Israel, senão os heveus, moradores de Gibeão; a todas tomaram à força de armas.
20 For, from Yahweh, came it to pass, that their heart was emboldened to come out to war with Israel, that he might devote them to destruction, that they might find no favour,but that he might destroy them,as Yahweh commanded Moses.
20 Porquanto do Senhor veio o endurecimento dos seus corações para saírem à guerra contra Israel, a fim de que fossem destruídos totalmente, e não achassem piedade alguma, mas fossem exterminados, como o Senhor tinha ordenado a Moisés.
21 And Joshua came in, at that time, and cut off the Anakim from the hill countryfrom Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the hill country of Judah, and from all the hill country of Israel,with their cities, did Joshua devote them to destruction.
21 Naquele tempo veio Josué, e exterminou os anaquins da região montanhosa de Hebrom, de Debir, de Anabe, de toda a região montanhosa de Judá, e de toda a região montanhosa de Israel; Josué os destruiu totalmente com as suas cidades.
22 There was left remaining none of the Anakim, in the land of the sons of Israel,save only, in Gaza, in Gath, and in Ashdod, did some remain.
22 Não foi deixado nem sequer um dos anaquins na terra dos filhos de Israel; somente ficaram alguns em Gaza, em Gate, e em Asdode.
23 So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that Yahweh had spoken unto Moses, and Joshua gave it for an inheritance unto Israel, according to their portions by their tribes,and, the land, had rest from war.
23 Assim Josué tomou toda esta terra conforme tudo o que o Senhor tinha dito a Moisés; e Josué a deu em herança a Israel, pelas suas divisões, segundo as suas tribos; e a terra repousou da guerra.
