1 And Yahweh appeared unto him among the oaks of Mamre,as, he, was sitting at the opening of the tent in the heat of the day.
1 O S enhor apareceu novamente a Abraão junto ao bosque de carvalhos que pertencia a Manre. Abraão estava sentado à entrada de sua tenda na hora mais quente do dia.
2 And he lifted up his eyes and looked, and lo! three men, standing over against him,so he looked and ran to meet them from the opening of the tent, and bowed himself to the earth;
2 Olhando para fora, viu três homens em pé, próximos à tenda. Quando os viu, correu até onde estavam e lhes deu as boas-vindas, curvando-se até o chão.
3 and said,O My Lord! if, I pray thee, I have found favour in thine eyes, do not I pray thee pass on from thy servant.
3 Abraão disse: “Meu senhor, se assim desejar, pare aqui um pouco.
4 Let there be fetched, I pray thee a little water, and bathe ye your feet,and rest yourselves under the tree.
4 Descanse à sombra desta árvore enquanto mando trazer água para lavarem os pés.
5 And let me fetch a morsel of bread, and stay ye your heart, Afterwards, ye may pass on, For on this account, have ye passed by, over against your servant. And they said, Thus, shalt thou do as thou hast spoken.
5 E, uma vez que honraram seu servo com esta visita, prepararei uma refeição para restaurar suas forças antes de seguirem viagem”. “Está bem”, responderam eles. “Faça como você disse.”
6 So Abraham hastened towards the tent unto Sarah,and said, Hasten thou three measures of fine meal, knead it, and make hearth-cakes.
6 Abraão voltou correndo para a tenda e disse a Sara: “Rápido! Pegue três medidas da melhor farinha, amasse-a e faça alguns pães”.
7 And unto the herd, ran Abraham,and took a calf tender and good and gave unto the young man, and he hastened to make it ready.
7 Em seguida, Abraão correu ao rebanho, escolheu um novilho tenro e o entregou a seu servo, que o preparou rapidamente.
8 And he took butter and milk and the calf that he had made ready, and set before them,while, he, was standing near them under the tree, they did eat.
8 Quando a comida estava pronta, Abraão pegou coalhada, leite e a carne assada e os serviu aos visitantes. Enquanto comiam, Abraão permaneceu à disposição deles, à sombra das árvores.
9 And they said unto him, As to Sarah thy wife And he said Lo! in the tent.
9 “Onde está Sara, sua mulher?”, perguntaram os visitantes. “Está dentro da tenda”, respondeu Abraão.
10 And he said, I will, surely return, unto thee at the quickening season,and lo! a son for Sarah thy wife. Now Sarah, was hearkening at the opening of the tent, it, being behind him.
10 Então um deles disse: “Voltarei a visitar você por esta época, no ano que vem, e sua mulher, Sara, terá um filho”. Sara estava ouvindo a conversa de dentro da tenda.
11 But Abraham and Sarah, were old, far gone in days,it had ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women.
11 Abraão e Sara já eram bem velhos, e Sara tinha passado, havia muito tempo, da idade de ter filhos.
12 So then Sarah laughed within herself, saying: After I am past age, hath there come to me pleasure, my lord, also being old?
12 Por isso, riu consigo e disse: “Como poderia uma mulher da minha idade ter esse prazer, ainda mais quando meu senhor, meu marido, também é idoso?”.
13 And Yahweh said unto Abraham,Wherefore now did Sarah laugh saying. Can it really and truly be that I should bear, seeing that have become old?
13 Então o S enhor disse a Abraão: “Por que Sara riu? Por que disse: ‘Pode uma mulher da minha idade ter um filho’?
14 Is anything, too wonderful for Yahweh? At the appointed time, I will return unto thee, at the quickening season and Sarah, shall have a son.
14 Existe alguma coisa difícil demais para o S enhor ? Voltarei por esta época, no ano que vem, e Sara terá um filho”.
15 And Sarah denied, saying, I laughed not, For she was afraid. And he saidNay! but thou didst laugh!
15 Sara teve medo e, por isso, mentiu: “Eu não ri”. Mas ele disse: “Não é verdade. Você riu”.
16 And the men rose up from hence, and looked out over the face of Sodom,Abraham also going with them to set them on their way.
16 Depois da refeição, os visitantes se levantaram e olharam em direção a Sodoma. Quando partiram, Abraão os acompanhou para despedir-se deles.
17 Now, Yahweh, had said,Am I going to hide from Abraham what I do,
17 Então o S enhor disse: “Devo esconder meu plano de Abraão?
18 when, Abraham, shall surely become, a great and mighty nation,and all the nations of the earth, shall be blessed in him?
18 Afinal, Abraão certamente se tornará uma grande e poderosa nação, e todas as nações da terra serão abençoadas por meio dele.
19 For I have become his intimate friend, To the end that he may command his sons and his house after him, so shall they keep the way of Yahweh, by doing righteousness and justice. To the end that Yahweh may bring in for Abraham, what he hath spoken concerning him.
19 Eu o escolhi para que ordene a seus filhos e às famílias deles que guardem o caminho do S enhor , praticando o que é certo e justo. Então farei por Abraão tudo que prometi”.
20 So Yahweh said, The outcry of Sodom and Gomorrah, because it hath become great,And their sin, because it hath become exceeding grievous,
20 Portanto, o S enhor disse a Abraão: “Ouvi um grande clamor vindo de Sodoma e Gomorra, porque o pecado dessas duas cidades é extremamente grave.
21 Let me go down, pray, and let me behold, whether according to their outcry which hath come in unto me, they have done altogether, And if not. I must know!
21 Descerei para investigar se seus atos são, de fato, tão perversos quanto tenho ouvido. Se não forem, quero saber”.
22 And the men turned from thence, and went their way, towards Sodom,but, Yahweh was yet standing before Abraham.
22 Os outros visitantes partiram para Sodoma, mas Abraão permaneceu diante do S enhor .
23 So then Abraham drew near and said, Wilt thou really sweep away, the righteous with the lawless?
23 Aproximou-se dele e disse: “Exterminarás tanto os justos como os perversos?
24 Peradventure there are fifty righteous, in the midst of the city, Wilt thou really sweep away, and not spare the place, for the sake of the fifty righteous which are therein?
24 Suponhamos que haja cinquenta justos na cidade. Mesmo assim os exterminarás e não a pouparás por causa deles?
25 Far be it from thee! to do after this manner. to put to death the righteous with the lawless! Then should righteous and lawless be alike, Far be it from thee! Shall, the Judge of all the earth not do justice?
25 Claro que não farias tal coisa: destruir o justo com o perverso. Afinal, estarias tratando o justo e o perverso da mesma maneira! Certamente não farias isso! Acaso o Juiz de toda a terra não faria o que é certo?”.
26 And Yahweh said, If I find in Sodom fifty righteous in the midst of the city, then will I spare all the place for their sake.
26 O S enhor respondeu: “Se eu encontrar cinquenta justos em Sodoma, pouparei a cidade toda por causa deles”.
27 And Abraham responded and said,Behold I pray thee I have ventured to speak unto My Lord, though I am dust and ashes:
27 Abraão voltou a falar: “Embora eu seja apenas pó e cinza, permita-me dizer mais uma coisa ao meu Senhor.
28 Peradventure there may lack, of the fifty righteous, five, Wilt thou destroy for five all the city? And he said, I will not destroy, if I find there forty and five.
28 Suponhamos que haja apenas quarenta e cinco justos, e não cinquenta. Destruirás a cidade toda por falta de cinco justos?”. O S
29 And he added, yet once more, to speak unto him, and said, Peradventure there may be found thereforty. And he saidI will not do it, for the sake of the forty.
29 Abraão levou seu pedido ainda mais longe: “Suponhamos que haja apenas quarenta”. O S
30 And he said Let it not, I pray thee, be vexing to My Lord, but let me speak, Peradventure there may be found therethirty And be said, I will not to it, if I find therethirty.
30 “Por favor, não fiques irado comigo, meu Senhor”, suplicou Abraão. “Permita-me falar. Suponhamos que haja apenas trinta justos.” O S
31 And he sad Behold, I pray thee, I have ventured to speak unto My Lord, Peradventure there may be found theretwenty. And he said I will not destroy it, for the sake of the twenty.
31 Abraão prosseguiu: “Uma vez que tive a ousadia de falar ao Senhor, permita-me continuar. Suponhamos que haja apenas vinte”. O S
32 And he said, Let it not, I pray thee, be vexing to My Lord, but let me speak only this once, Peradventure there may be found thereten. And he said, I will not destroy , for the sake of the ten!
32 Por fim, Abraão disse: “Senhor, não fiques irado comigo por eu falar mais uma vez. Suponhamos que haja apenas dez”. O S
33 And Yahweh went his way, when he had made an end. of speaking unto Abraham,Abraham, also returned to his place.
33 Quando terminou a conversa com Abraão, o S enhor partiu, e Abraão voltou para sua tenda.
