1 And afterwards, Moses and Aaron went in and said unto Pharaoh,Thus, saith Yahweh God of Israel, Let my people go, that they may hold a festival to me in the desert.
1 E depois foram Moisés e Arão e disseram a Faraó: Assim diz o SENHOR Deus de Israel: Deixa meu povo ir, para que me celebre uma festa no deserto.
2 Then said Pharaoh, Who is Yahweh that I should hearken to his voice, to let Israel go? I know not Yahweh, and certainly. Israel, will I not let go!
2 E disse Faraó: Quem é o SENHOR, para que eu obedeça à sua voz para deixar Israel ir? Não conheço o SENHOR, tampouco deixarei Israel ir.
3 And they said, the God of the Hebrews, hath met with us,let us go, we pray thee, a journey of three days into the desert and sacrifice to Yahweh our God, lest he fall upon us with pestilence or with sword.
3 E eles disseram: O Deus dos hebreus nos encontrou. Deixa-nos ir, rogamos-te, três dias de jornada para o deserto; e oferecer sacrifícios ao SENHOR nosso Deus, para que ele não venha sobre nós com peste, ou com a espada.
4 And the king of Egypt said unto them, Wherefore O Moses and Aaron should ye loose the people from their works? Get you to your burdens.
4 E o rei do Egito lhes disse: Por que vós, Moisés e Arão, impedis o povo de trabalhar? Ide às vossas cargas.
5 And Pharaoh said, Lo! manynow, are the people of the land,and are ye to make them rest from their burdens?
5 E Faraó disse: Eis que o povo da terra agora é muito, e vós os fazeis descansar de suas cargas.
6 So then Pharaoh gave command on that day, unto the taskmasters over the people and unto their overseerssaying:
6 E no mesmo dia Faraó ordenou aos capatazes do povo, e aos seus oficiais, dizendo:
7 Ye shall no more give straw unto the people, for making the bricks as heretofore: Let them, go, themselves, so shall they gather for themselves straw:
7 Já não dareis ao povo a palha para fazer tijolos, como até agora. Que eles mesmos vão e ajuntem palha para si.
8 Nevertheless, the fixed number of bricks, which they have been making heretofore, shall ye lay upon them, ye shall not diminish therefrom,for idle, they are, on this account, it is that they are making an outcry, saying, We must go our way, we must sacrifice to our God.
8 E a conta dos tijolos que faziam até agora, esta poreis sobre eles. Não diminuireis coisa alguma. Pois eles estão ociosos, por isso clamam, dizendo: Deixa-nos ir e sacrificar ao nosso Deus.
9 The service must be made heavy on the men that they may labour on it,and let them not pay regard to words of falsehood.
9 Que mais trabalho seja colocado sobre os homens, para que nele se ocupem, e não considerem palavras vãs.
10 Then went forth the taskmasters of the people and their overseers, and spake unto the people,saying,Thus, saith Pharaoh, I am not going to give you straw,
10 E saíram os capatazes do povo, e os seus oficiais, e falaram ao povo, dizendo: Assim diz Faraó: Não vos darei palha.
11 Ye yourselves go fetch you straw, of any ye can find,yet hath there not been diminished from your service a single thing.
11 Ide vós mesmos, ajuntai a palha onde a achardes; mas nada de vosso trabalho será diminuído.
12 So the people dispersed themselves throughout all the land of Egypt,to gather stubble for straw:
12 Assim o povo se espalhou por toda a terra do Egito para ajuntar restolho em vez de palha.
13 the taskmasters, meanwhile, being urgent saying,Complete your works, The task of a day, in its day, as when the straw was provided.
13 E os capatazes os apressavam, dizendo: Cumpri vossos trabalhos, vossas tarefas diárias, como quando havia palha.
14 Then were beaten the overseers of the sons of Israel, whom the taskmasters of Pharaoh had set over them saying: Wherefore have ye not completed your task for making bricks, as heretofore, so also, yesterday and, to-day?
14 E foram açoitados os oficiais dos filhos de Israel, que os capatazes de Faraó haviam posto sobre eles, e reclamavam: Por que não cumpristes vossa tarefa de fazer tijolos ontem e hoje, como até agora?
15 Then came in the overseers of the sons of Israel, and made outcry unto Pharaoh, saying, Wherefore shouldst thou do thus to thy servants?
15 Então os oficiais dos filhos de Israel foram e clamaram a Faraó, dizendo: Por que tratas assim os teus servos?
16 No straw, is given to thy servants, yet bricks,they keep saying to usmake ye! And lo, thy servants, are beatenthou dost, therefore, wrong thy people.
16 Não se dá palha a teus servos, e eles nos dizem: Fazei tijolos. E eis que os teus servos são açoitados; mas a culpa está em teu próprio povo.
17 But he said: Idle, ye areidle, on this account, are, ye, saying, We must take our journey, we must sacrifice to Yahweh.
17 Mas ele disse: Vós estais ociosos; vós estais ociosos, por isso dizeis: Deixa-nos ir e fazer sacrifício para o SENHOR.
18 Now, therefore, go labour, but, straw, shall not be given you,yet the tale of bricks, shall ye render.
18 Portanto, agora ide e trabalhai, porque não se vos dará palha, porém cumprireis a conta dos tijolos.
19 Then did the overseers of the sons of Israel see themselves to be in an evil case, when it was said,Ye shall not diminish from your bricksthe task of a day, in its day
19 E os oficiais dos filhos de Israel notaram que eles estavam em uma má situação, depois que foi dito: Não diminuireis coisa alguma dos tijolos da vossa tarefa diária.
20 So they fell upon Moses and upon Aaron, stationing themselves to meet them,as they came forth from Pharaoh;
20 E encontraram Moisés e Arão que estavam no caminho, quando vinham de Faraó,
21 and they said unto them, Yahweh look upon you and judge,in that ye have made us odious in the eyes of Pharaoh and in the eyes of his servants, putting a sword into their hand to slay us.
21 e disseram a eles: O SENHOR olhe para vós e julgue, porquanto fizestes que o nosso cheiro fosse abominado aos olhos de Faraó, e aos olhos dos seus servos, colocando-lhes nas mãos uma espada para nos matar.
22 And Moses returned unto Yahweh and said,O My Lord wherefore hast thou caused harm to this people? Wherefore now didst thou send me?
22 E Moisés voltou ao SENHOR, e disse: Senhor, por que trataste tão mal a este povo? Por que é que me enviaste?
23 seeing that from what time I came in unto Pharaoh to speak in thy name, he hath done harm to this people, and thou hast not delivered, thy people,
23 Porque desde que fui a Faraó para falar em teu nome, ele fez mal a este povo. E tu também não livraste teu povo.
