1 And, the fifth messenger, sounded; and I saw a star, out of heaven, fallen unto the earth, and there was given unto him the key of the shaft of the abyss.
1 O quinto anjo tocou a trombeta. Vi então uma estrela cair do céu na terra, e foi-lhe dada a chave do poço do abismo;
2 And he opened the shaft of the abyss; and there came up a smoke out of the shaft, as the smoke of a great furnace, and the sun and the air were darkened, by reason of the smoke of the shaft.
2 ela o abriu e saiu do poço uma fumaça como a de uma grande fornalha. O sol e o ar obscureceram-se com a fumaça do poço.
3 And, out of the smoke, came forth, locusts, upon the earth; and there was given unto them licence, as the scorpions of the earth have licence.
3 Da fumaça saíram gafanhotos pela terra, e foi-lhes dado poder semelhante ao dos escorpiões da terra.
4 And it was bidden them that they should not injure the herbage of the earth, nor any green thing, nor any tree,but only the men who have not the seal of God upon their foreheads.
4 Mas foi-lhes dito que não causassem dano à erva, verdura, ou árvore alguma, mas somente aos homens que não têm o selo de Deus na fronte.
5 And it was given unto them, that they should not slay them, but that they should be tormented five months; and, the torture of them, was as of a scorpions torture, whensoever it smiteth a man.
5 Foi-lhes ordenado que não os matassem, mas os afligissem por cinco meses. Seu tormento era como o da picada do escorpião.
6 And, in those days, shall men seek death, and in nowise shall find it, and shall covet to die, and death fleeth from them.
6 Naqueles dias, os homens buscarão a morte e não a conseguirão; desejarão morrer, e a morte fugirá deles.
7 And, the likenesses of the locusts, were like unto horses prepared for battle; and, upon their heads, as it were crowns, like unto gold, and, their faces, were as the faces of men,
7 O aspecto desses gafanhotos era o de cavalos aparelhados para a guerra. Nas suas cabeças havia uma espécie de coroa com reflexos dourados. Seus rostos eram como rostos de homem,
8 and, they had hair, as the hair of women, and, their teeth, were, as of lions,
8 seus cabelos como os de mulher e seus dentes, como os dentes de leão.
9 and they had breastplates as breastplates of iron, and, the sound of their wings, was as the sound of chariots of many horses, running into battle;
9 Seus tórax pareciam envoltos em ferro, e o ruído de suas asas era como o ruído de carros de muitos cavalos, correndo para a guerra.
10 and they have tails like unto scorpions, and stings, and, in their tails, is their licence to injure men five months.
10 Tinham caudas semelhantes à do escorpião, com ferrões e o poder de afligir os homens por cinco meses.
11 They have over them, as king, the messenger of the abyss, whose name, in Hebrew, is Abaddon "=Destroyer" , and, in the Greek, he hath for name, Destroyer.
11 Têm eles por rei o anjo do abismo; chama-se em hebraico Abadon, e em grego, Apolion.
12 The first, Woe, hath passed away, lo! there come, yet, two, Woes, after these things.
12 Terminado assim o primeiro ai, eis que, depois dele, vêm ainda dois outros.
13 And, the sixth messenger, sounded; and I heard one voice, from among the horns of the altar of gold which is before God,
13 O sexto anjo tocou a trombeta. Ouvi então uma voz que vinha dos quatro cantos do altar de ouro, que está diante de Deus,
14 saying unto the sixth messenger, who was holding the trumpetLoose the four messengers, who are bound at the great river Euphrates.
14 e que dizia ao sexto anjo que tinha a trombeta: Solta os quatro Anjos que estão acorrentados à beira do grande rio Eufrates.
15 And the four messengers were loosed, who had been prepared for the hour, and day, and month, and year, that they should slay the third of men.
15 Então foram soltos os quatro Anjos que se conservavam preparados para a hora, o dia, o mês e o ano da matança da terça parte dos homens...
16 And, the number of the armies of the horsemen, was twice ten thousand times ten thousandI heard the number of them.
16 O número de soldados desta cavalaria era de duzentos milhões. Eu ouvi o seu número.
17 And, thus, saw I the horses in the vision,and them who were sitting upon them, having breastplates as of fire and hyacinth and brimstone;and, the heads of the horses, were as heads of lions, and, out of their mouths, come forth fire and smoke and brimstone:
17 E foi assim que eu vi os cavalos e os que os montavam: estes últimos eram couraçados de uma chama sulfurosa azul. Os cavalos tinham crina como uma juba de leão e de suas narinas saíam fogo, fumaça e enxofre.
18 by these three plagues, were slain, the third part of mankind, by reason of the fire and the smoke and the brimstone, that proceedeth out of their mouths;
18 E uma terça parte dos homens foi morta por esses três flagelos {fogo, fumaça e enxofre} que lhes saíam das narinas.
19 for, the licence of the horses, is, in their mouth, and in their tails, for, their tails, are like unto serpents, having heads, and, with them, they injure.
19 Porque o poder nocivo dos cavalos estava também nas caudas; tinham cabeças como serpentes e causavam dano com elas.
20 And, the rest of mankind who were not slain by these plagues, repented not of the works of their hands,that they should not do homage unto the demons, nor unto the idols of gold and of silver and of copper and of stone and of wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk;
20 Mas o restante dos homens, que não foram mortos por esses três flagelos, não se arrependeu das obras de suas mãos. Não cessaram de adorar o demônio e os ídolos de ouro, de prata, de bronze, de pedra e de madeira, que não podem ver, nem ouvir, nem andar.
21 Neither repented they of their murders, or of their sorceries, or of their lewdnesses, or of their thefts.
21 Não se arrependeram de seus homicídios, seus malefícios, suas imundícies e furtos.
