¹ Then the king sent,and there were gathered unto him, all the elders of Judah, and Jerusalem;

¹ E o rei enviou, e se reuniram a ele todos os anciãos de Judá e de Jerusalém.

² and the king went up to the house of Yahweh, and all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the people, both small and great,and he read in their ears, all the words of the book of the covenant, which had been found in the house of Yahweh.

² E o rei subiu à casa do SENHOR, e todos os homens de Judá, e com ele todos os habitantes de Jerusalém, e os sacerdotes, e os profetas, e todo o povo, tanto os pequenos como os grandes; e ele leu aos seus ouvidos todas as palavras do livro do pacto que fora achado na casa do SENHOR.

³ And the king took his stand by the pillar, and solemnised a covenant before Yahwehto follow Yahweh, and to keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes, with all

³ E o rei se pôs de pé junto a um pilar, e fez um pacto diante do SENHOR, para andarem segundo o SENHOR, e para guardarem os seus mandamentos e os seus testemunhos e os seus estatutos de todo seu coração e de toda a sua alma, para cumprirem as palavras deste pacto que estavam escritas neste livro. E todo o povo apoiou este pacto.

⁴ Then the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest, and the priests of the second order, and the keepers of the entrance-hall, to bring forth, out of the temple of Yahweh, all the vessels that had been made for Baal and for the Sacred Stem, and for all the army of the heavens,and he burned them up outside Jerusalem, in the fields of Kidron, and carried the ashes of them to Bethel;

⁴ E o rei ordenou a Hilquias, o sumo sacerdote, e aos sacerdotes da segunda ordem, e aos guardadores da porta, para retirarem do templo do SENHOR todos os vasos que foram feitos para Baal, e para o bosque, e para todo o exército do céu; e ele os queimou na parte externa de Jerusalém, nos campos de Cedrom, e carregou as suas cinzas até Betel.

⁵ and he put down the idol-priests, whom the kings of Judah had appointed, so that incense might be burned in the high places, in the cities of Judah, and round about Jerusalem,them also that burned incense to Baal, to the sun, and to the moon, and to the constellations, and to all the army of the heavens;

⁵ E ele pôs abaixo os sacerdotes idólatras, aos quais os reis de Judá haviam ordenado para queimar incenso nos lugares altos, nas cidades de Judá, e nos lugares ao redor de Jerusalém; também aqueles que queimavam incenso a Baal, ao sol, e à lua, e aos planetas, e a todo o exército do céu.

⁶ and he brought forth the Sacred Stem out of the house of Yahweh, outside Jerusalem, into the Kidron ravine, and burned it in the Kidron ravine, and crushed it to powder,and cast the powder upon the graves of the sons of the people;

⁶ E ele retirou a árvore sagrada da casa do SENHOR, para fora de Jerusalém, até o ribeiro de Cedrom, e a queimou junto ao ribeiro de Cedrom, e a triturou até virar pó, e lançou o seu pó sobre os túmulos dos filhos do povo.

⁷ and he brake down the houses of the male devotees, which were in the house of Yahweh,where the women did weave houses to the Sacred Stem;

⁷ E ele demoliu as casas dos sodomitas, que ficavam junto à casa do SENHOR, onde as mulheres teciam pingentes para a árvore sagrada.

⁸ and be brought in all the priests out of the cities of Judah, and defiled the high places where, the priests, had burned incense, from Geba unto Beer-sheba,and brake down the high places of the gates, that were at the entrance of the gate of Joshua, the governor of the city, which were on ones left hand, in the gate of the city;

⁸ E ele retirou todos os sacerdotes das cidades de Judá, e profanou os lugares altos, onde os sacerdotes haviam queimado incenso, desde Geba até Berseba, e demoliu os lugares altos dos portões que estavam à entrada do portão de Josué, o governador da cidade, os quais estavam à esquerda, junto ao portão da cidade.

⁹ howbeit, the priests of the high places came not up unto the altar of Yahweh, in Jerusalem, save only that they did eat unleavened bread in the midst of their brethren;

⁹ Todavia os sacerdotes dos lugares altos não subiram ao altar do SENHOR em Jerusalém, mas comeram do pão ázimo no meio dos seus irmãos.

¹⁰ and he defiled Topheth, which was in the valley of the son of Hinnom,so that no man might cause his son or his daughter to pass through the fire unto Molech;

¹⁰ E ele profanou Tofete, que está no vale dos filhos de Hinom, para que nenhum homem pudesse fazer o seu filho ou a sua filha passar pelo meio do fogo para Moloque.

¹¹ and he did away with the horses, which the kings of Judah had devoted to the sun, at the entrance of the house of Yahweh, near the chamber of Nathan-melech the courtier, which was in the suburbs, also, the chariots of the sun, burned he with fire;

¹¹ E ele removeu os cavalos que os reis de Judá tinham dado ao sol, à entrada da casa do SENHOR, pela câmara de Natã-Meleque, o camareiro, a qual estava nos arredores, e queimou as carruagens do sol com fogo.

¹² and, the altars which were on the roof of the upper chamber of Ahaz, which the kings of Judah had made, also the altars which Manasseh had made, in the two courts of the house of Yahweh, did the king break down,and hurried away from thence, and cast out the powder of them into the Kidron ravine;

¹² E os altares que estavam no topo da câmara superior de Acaz, os quais os reis de Judá tinham feito, e os altares que Manassés fizera nos dois pátios da casa do SENHOR, o rei pôs abaixo, e os demoliu dali, e lançou o seu pó no ribeiro de Cedrom.

¹³ and, the high places that were before Jerusalem, which were on the right hand of the mount of destruction, which Solomon king of Israel had built unto Ashtoreththe abomination of the Zidonians, and unto Chemoshthe abomination of the Moabites, and unto Milcomthe disgusting thing of the sons of Ammon, did the king defile;

¹³ E os lugares altos que estavam diante de Jerusalém, os quais estavam à direita do monte da corrupção, o qual Salomão, o rei de Israel, havia edificado para Astarote, a abominação dos sidônios, e para Quemós, a abominação dos moabitas, para Milcom, a abominação dos filhos de Amom, o rei profanou.

¹⁴ and he brake in pieces the pillars, and cut down the Sacred Stems,and filled their place with human bones:

¹⁴ E ele quebrou em pedaços as imagens, e cortou os bosques, e encheu os seus lugares com os ossos de homens.

¹⁵ moreover also, the altar that was in Bethel, the high place which Jeroboam son of Nebat made, wherewith he caused, Israel, to sin,even that altar, and the high place, brake he down,and burned the high place, crushing it to powder, and burned a Sacred Stem.

¹⁵ Além disso, o altar que estava em Betel, e o lugar alto que Jeroboão, o filho de Nebate, que fez Israel pecar, até aquele altar e o lugar alto ele os demoliu, e queimou o lugar alto, e o triturou até virar pó, e queimou o bosque.

¹⁶ And, when Josiah turned, and saw the graves which were there, in the mount, he sent and took the bones out of the graves, and burned upon the altar, and defiled it,according to the word of Yahweh, which the man of God proclaimed, who proclaimed these things.

¹⁶ E, ao se virar, Josias espionou os sepulcros que estavam ali no monte, e mandou tirar os ossos dos sepulcros, e os queimou sobre o altar, e o contaminou, segundo a palavra do SENHOR que o homem de Deus proclamou, aquele que predisse estas palavras.

¹⁷ Then said heWhat is yonder erection, which I do see? And the men of the city said unto himThe grave of the man of God, who came in out of Judah, and proclaimed these things, which thou hast done, concerning the altar of Bethel.

¹⁷ Então, ele disse: Que monumento é aquele que vejo? E os homens da cidade lhe disseram: É o sepulcro do homem de Deus, que veio de Judá, e proclamou estas coisas que tu tens feito contra o altar de Betel.

¹⁸ And he saidLet him rest, let, no man, disturb his bones. So they let his bones rest, with the bones of the prophet who came in out of Samaria.

¹⁸ E ele disse: Deixai-o em paz; que nenhum homem mova os seus ossos. Assim, eles deixaram os seus ossos em paz, com os ossos do profeta que saiu de Samaria.

¹⁹ Moreover also, all the houses of the high places which were in the cities of Samaria, which the kings of Israel had made, so as to provoke Yahweh to anger, did Josiah remove,and he did to them according to all the doings which he had done in Bethel;

¹⁹ E também todas as casas dos lugares altos que estavam nas cidades de Samaria, as quais os reis de Israel haviam feito para provocar o SENHOR à ira, Josias removeu, e fez a eles segundo todos os atos que ele havia feito em Betel.

²⁰ and he sacrificed all the priests of the high places, who were there, by the altars, and burned human bones thereupon,and returned to Jerusalem.

²⁰ E matou todos os sacerdotes dos lugares altos que estavam ali sobre os altares, e queimou ossos de homens sobre eles, e retornou a Jerusalém.

²¹ Then did the king command all the people, saying, Keep ye a passover unto Yahweh, your God,such as is written in this book of the covenant.

²¹ E o rei ordenou a todo o povo, dizendo: Guardai a páscoa diante do SENHOR vosso Deus, como está escrito no livro deste pacto.

²² Surely there had not been held such a passover as this, from the days of the Judges who judged Israel,nor all the days of the kings of Israel, and the kings of Judah;

²² Certamente, ali não era celebrada uma páscoa assim desde os dias dos juízes que julgavam Israel, nem em todos os dias dos reis de Israel, tampouco dos reis de Judá;

²³ save only, in the eighteenth year of King Josiah, when this passover was held unto Yahweh, in Jerusalem.

²³ senão, no décimo oitavo ano do rei Josias, no qual esta páscoa foi celebrada ao SENHOR, em Jerusalém.

²⁴ Moreover also, them who had familiar spirits, and the wizards, and the household gods, and the manufactured gods, and the abominations which were to be seen in the land of Judah, and in Jerusalem, did Josiah consume,that he might confirm the words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest had found in the house of Yahweh.

²⁴ Além disso, os que lidam com espíritos familiares, e os feiticeiros, e as imagens, e os ídolos, e todas as abominações que foram espionadas na terra de Judá e em Jerusalém, Josias lançou fora, para que pudesse cumprir as palavras da lei, as quais estavam escritas no livro que Hilquias, o sacerdote, encontrou na casa do SENHOR.

²⁵ And, like him, was no king, before him, who turned unto Yahweh with all his heart, and with all his soul, and with all his might, according to all the law of Moses,neither, after him, arose one, like him.

²⁵ E antes dele não houve rei como ele, que se voltou ao SENHOR com todo o seu coração, e com toda a sua alma, e com todo o seu poder, segundo toda a lei de Moisés; nem depois dele se levantou ali alguém como ele.

²⁶ Howbeit, Yahweh turned not away from the glow of his great anger, wherewith his anger glowed against Judahbecause of all the provocations wherewith, Manasseh, had provoked him.

²⁶ Não obstante, o SENHOR não se voltou do ardor da sua grande ira com a qual foi acesa contra Judá, por causa de todas as provocações com as quais Manassés ao mesmo tempo lhe havia provocado.

²⁷ So Yahweh said: Even Judah, will I remove from my presence, as I have removed Israel,and will reject this city, which I had chosen, even Jerusalem, and the house as to which I had said, My Name, shall be, there.

²⁷ E o SENHOR disse: Também quero remover Judá da minha vista, assim como removi Israel, e lançarei fora esta cidade, Jerusalém, a qual tenho escolhido, e a casa da qual eu disse: O meu nome estará ali.

²⁸ Now, the rest of the story of Josiah, and all that he did, are, they, not written in the book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?

²⁸ Ora, o restante dos atos de Josias, e tudo o que ele fez, não estão escritos no livro das Crônicas dos reis de Judá?

²⁹ In his days, came up Pharaoh-necoh king of Egypt, against the king of Assyria, unto the river Euphrates,and, when King Josiah went against him, he slew him at Megiddo, as soon as he saw him.

²⁹ Nos seus dias Faraó-Neco, rei do Egito, partiu para junto do rei da Assíria, até o rio Eufrates; e o rei Josias foi contra ele; e ele o matou em Megido, quando o avistou.

³⁰ And his servants conveyed him in a chariot, dead, from Megiddo, and brought him to Jerusalem, and buried him in his own sepulchre,and the people of the land took Jehoahaz, son of Josiah, and anointed him, and made, him, king, in his fathers stead.

³⁰ E os seus servos o carregaram morto em uma carruagem, desde Megido, e o trouxeram até Jerusalém, e o sepultaram no seu próprio sepulcro. E o povo da terra tomou Joacaz, o filho de Josias, e o ungiu, e fê-lo rei, no lugar do seu pai.

³¹ Twenty-three years old, was Jehoahaz when he began to reign, and, three months, reigned he in Jerusalem,and, his mothers name, was Hamutal daughter of Jeremiah, of Libnah.

³¹ Joacaz tinha vinte e três anos de idade quando começou a reinar; e reinou três meses em Jerusalém. E o nome da sua mãe era Hamutal, a filha de Jeremias, de Libna.

³² And he did the thing that was wicked in the eyes of Yahweh, according to all that his, fathers, had done.

³² E ele fez aquilo que era mau à vista do SENHOR, segundo tudo o que os seus pais haviam feito.

³³ And Pharaoh-necoh put him in bonds at Riblah, in the hind of Hamath, that he might not reign in Jerusalem,and he laid a fine upon the land, a hundred talents of silver, and a talent of gold.

³³ E Faraó-Neco o pôs em grilhões em Ribla, na terra de Hamate, para que ele não pudesse reinar em Jerusalém; e pôs a terra sob tributo de uma centena de talentos de prata, e um talento de ouro.

³⁴ And Pharaoh-necoh made Eliakim son of Josiah king, instead of Josiah his father, and turned his name to Jehoiakim,and, Jehoahaz, took he away, so he entered Egypt, and died there.

³⁴ E Faraó-Neco fez de Eliaquim, o filho de Josias, rei no lugar de Josias, o seu pai, e modificou o seu nome para Jeoaquim, e retirou Joacaz; e ele veio ao Egito, e ali morreu.

³⁵ And, the silver and the gold, did Jehoiakim give unto Pharaoh, howbeit he assessed the land, that he might give the silver at the bidding of Pharaoh,every man, according to his assessment, exacted the silver and the gold of the people of the land, that he might give it to Pharaoh-necoh.

³⁵ E Jeoaquim deu a prata e o ouro a Faraó; mas ele tributou a terra para dar o dinheiro, de acordo com o mandamento de Faraó; ele exigia a prata e o ouro do povo da terra, de cada um segundo a sua tributação, para dá-la a Faraó-Neco.

³⁶ Twenty-five years old, was Jehoiakim when he began to reign, and, eleven years, reigned he in Jerusalem,and, his mothers name, was Zebudah daughter of Pedaiah, of Rumah.

³⁶ Jeoaquim tinha vinte e cinco anos de idade quando começou a reinar; e reinou onze anos em Jerusalém. E o nome da sua mãe era Zebida, a filha de Pedaías, de Ruma.

³⁷ And he did the thing that was wicked in the eyes of Yahweh,according to all that, his fathers, had done.

³⁷ E ele fez aquilo que era mau à vista do SENHOR, segundo tudo o que os seus pais haviam feito.
