1 In the twenty-third year of Joash son of Ahaziah king of Judah, began Jehoahaz, son of Jehu, to reign over Israel, in Samaria, seventeen years.
1 No vigésimo terceiro ano de Joás, filho de Acazias, rei de Judá, começou a reinar Jeoacaz, filho de Jeú, sobre Israel, em Samária, e reinou dezessete anos.
2 And he did the thing that was wicked in the eyes of Yahweh,and went after the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat which he caused, Israel, to commit, he departed not therefrom.
2 E fez o que era mau aos olhos do Senhor, porque seguiu os pecados de Jeroboão, filho de Nebate, com os quais ele fizera Israel pecar; não se apartou deles.
3 Then was kindled the anger of Yahweh against Israeland he delivered them into the hand of Hazael king of Syria, and into the hand of Ben-hadad son of Hazael, continually.
3 Pelo que a ira do Senhor se acendeu contra Israel; e o entregou continuadamente na mão de Hazael, rei da Síria, e na mão de Ben-Hadade, filho de Hazael.
4 And Jehoahaz appeased the face of Yahweh,and Yahweh hearkened unto him, because he had seen the oppression of Israel, for that, the king of Syria, oppressed them.
4 Jeoacaz, porém, suplicou diante da face do Senhor; e o senhor o ouviu, porque viu a opressão com que o rei da Síria oprimia a Israel,
5 So Yahweh gave unto Israel a saviour, and they went forth from under the hand of Syria,and the sons of Israel dwelt in their own homes, as aforetime.
5 {pelo que o Senhor deu um libertador a Israel, de modo que saiu de sob a mão dos sírios; e os filhos de Israel habitaram nas suas tendas, como dantes.
6 Howbeit they departed not from the sins of the house of Jeroboam which he caused, Israel, to commit, therein, they walked,moreover also, the Sacred Stem, still stood in Samaria.
6 Contudo não se apartaram dos pecados da casa de Jeroboão, com os quais ele fizera Israel pecar, porém andaram neles; e também a Asera ficou em pé em Samária.}
7 For he had not left remaining unto Jehoahaz a people, save only fifty horsemen, and ten chariots, and ten thousand footmen,for the king of Syria had destroyed them, and had made them like dust in threshing.
7 porque, de todo o povo, não deixara a Jeoacaz mais que cinqüenta cavaleiros, dez carros e dez mil homens de infantaria; porquanto o rei da Síria os tinha destruído e os tinha feito como o pó da eira.
8 Now, the rest of the story of Jehoahaz, and all that he did, and his might, are, they, not written in the book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
8 Ora, o restante dos atos de Jeoacaz, e tudo quanto fez, e o seu poder, porventura não estão escritos no livro das crônicas dos reis de Israel?
9 So then Jehoahaz slept with his fathers, and they buried him in Samaria,and, Joash his son, reigned, in his stead.
9 E Jeoacaz dormiu com seus pais; e o sepultaram em Samária. E Jeoás, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar.
10 In the thirty-seventh year of Joash king of Judah, began Jehoash son of Jehoahaz to reign over Israel, in Samaria, sixteen years.
10 No ano trinta e sete de Joás, rei de Judá, começou a reinar Jeoás, filho de Jeoacaz, sobre Israel, em Samária, e reinou dezesseis anos.
11 And he did that which was wicked in the eyes of Yahweh,he turned not away from all the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, which he caused, Israel, to commit, therein, he walked.
11 E fez o que era mau aos olhos do Senhor; não se apartou de nenhum dos pecados de Jeroboão filho de Nebate, com os quais ele fizera Israel pecar, porém andou neles.
12 Now, the rest of the story of Joash, and all that he did, and his might, wherewith he fought against Amaziah king of Judah, are, they, not written in the book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
12 Ora, o restante dos atos de Jeoás, e tudo quanto fez, e o seu poder, com que pelejou contra Amazias, rei de Judá, porventura não estão escritos no livro das crônicas dos reis de Israel?
13 So then Joash slept with his fathers, and, Jeroboam, took his seat on his throne,and Joash was buried in Samaria, with the kings of Israel.
13 Jeoás dormiu com seus pais, e Jeroboão se assentou no seu trono. Jeoás foi sepultado em Samária, junto aos reis de Israel.
14 Now, Elisha, had fallen sick of his sickness whereof he was about to die,so then Joash king of Israel came down unto him, and wept upon his face, and said, My father! my father! The chariots of Israel and the horsemen thereof!
14 Estando Eliseu doente da enfermidade de que morreu, Jeoás, rei de Israel, desceu a ele e, chorando sobre ele exclamou: Meu pai, meu pai! carro de Israel, e seus cavaleiros!
15 And Elisha said unto him, Take bow and arrows. So he took unto him bow and arrows.
15 E Eliseu lhe disse: Toma um arco e flechas. E ele tomou um arco e flechas.
16 Then said he unto the king of Israel, Let thy hand rest upon the bow. So he let his hand rest thereon. Then Elisha put his own hands upon the hands of the king;
16 Então Eliseu disse ao rei de Israel: Põe a mão sobre o arco. E ele o fez. Eliseu pôs as suas mãos sobre as do rei,
17 and saidOpen the lattice eastward. And he opened it. Then said ElishaShoot! And he shot. Then he said,The arrow of victory by Yahweh, yea the arrow of victory over Syria, therefore shalt thou smite Syria in Aphek, till it be consumed.
17 e disse: Abre a janela para o oriente. E ele a abriu. Então disse Eliseu: Atira. E ele atirou. Prosseguiu Eliseu: A flecha do livramento do Senhor é a flecha do livramento contra os sírios; porque ferirás os sírios em Afeque até os consumir.
18 And he saidTake the arrows. So he took them. Then said he unto the king of IsraelSmite unto the ground. So he smote three times, and then stayed.
18 Disse mais: Toma as flechas. E ele as tomou. Então disse ao rei de Israel: Fere a terra. E ele a feriu três vezes, e cessou.
19 Then was the man of God wroth against him, and saidThou shouldest have smitten five or six times, then, hadst thou smitten Syria, until it had been consumed; But, now, three times, shalt thou smite Syria.
19 Ao que o homem de Deus se indignou muito contra ele, e disse: Cinco ou seis vezes a deverias ter ferido; então feririas os sírios até os consumir; porém agora só três vezes ferirás os sírios.
20 And Elisha died, and they buried him,now, troops of Moabites, used to enter the land, at the coming in of the year;
20 Depois morreu Eliseu, e o sepultaram. Ora, as tropas dos moabitas invadiam a terra à entrada do ano.
21 and it came to pass, as, they, were burying a man, that, lo! they saw a troop, so they cast the man into the sepulchre of Elisha,and, as soon as the man touched the bones of Elisha, he came to life again, and rose up on his feet.
21 E sucedeu que, estando alguns a enterrarem um homem, viram uma dessas tropas, e lançaram o homem na sepultura de Eliseu. Logo que ele tocou os ossos de Eliseu, reviveu e se levantou sobre os seus pés.
22 And, Hazael king of Syria, had oppressed Israel all the days of Jehoahaz.
22 Hazael, rei da Síria, oprimiu a Israel todos os dias de Jeoacaz.
23 Then was Yahweh gracious unto them, and had compassion upon them, and turned unto them, for the sake of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob,and was not willing to destroy them, nor to cast them off from his presence, as yet.
23 O Senhor, porém, teve misericórdia deles, e se compadeceu deles, e se tornou para eles, por amor do seu pacto com Abraão, Isaque e Jacó; e não os quis destruir nem lançá-los da sua presença
24 So then Hazael king of Syria died; and, Ben-hadad his son, reigned, in his stead.
24 Ao morrer Hazael, rei da Síria, Ben-Hadade, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar.
25 And Jehoash son of Jehoahaz again took the cities out of the hand of Ben-hadad son of Hazael, which he had taken out of the hand of Jehoahaz his father, in war,three times, did Joash smite him, and recover the cities of Israel.
25 E Jeoás, filho de Jeoacaz, retomou das mãos de Ben-Hadade, filho de Hazael, as cidades que este havia tomado das mãos de Jeoacaz, seu pai, na guerra; três vezes Jeoás o feriu, e recuperou as cidades de Israel.
