1 Wherefore, no longer concealing our anxiety, we were well-pleased to be left in Athens, alone,
1 Pelo que, não podendo mais suportar o cuidado por vós, achamos por bem ficar sozinhos em Atenas,
2 And sent Timothyour brother, and Gods minister in the glad-message of the Christthat he might confirm and console you over your faith,
2 e enviamos Timóteo, nosso irmão, e ministro de Deus no evangelho de Cristo, para vos fortalecer e vos exortar acerca da vossa fé;
3 That, no one, might be shrinking back in these tribulations. For ye, yourselves, know, that, hereunto, are we appointed;
3 para que ninguém seja abalado por estas tribulações; porque vós mesmo sabeis que para isto fomos destinados;
4 For, even when we were with you, we told you beforehandwe are destined to suffer tribulation! even as it also came to pass, and ye know.
4 pois, quando estávamos ainda convosco, de antemão vos declarávamos que havíamos de padecer tribulações, como sucedeu, e vós o sabeis.
5 For this cause, I also, no longer concealing my anxiety, sent, that I might get to know your faith, lest by any means he that tempteth, should have tempted you, and, in vain, should have been our toil.
5 Por isso também, não podendo eu esperar mais, mandei saber da vossa fé, receando que o tentador vos tivesse tentado, e o nosso trabalho se houvesse tornado inútil.
6 But, when, just now, Timothy came unto us, from you, and brought us good tidings of your faith and love,and that ye have good remembrance of us, continually, longing to see, us,even as, we also, to see you,
6 Mas agora que Timóteo acaba de regressar do vosso meio, trazendo-nos boas notícias da vossa fé e do vosso amor, dizendo que sempre nos tendes em afetuosa lembrança, anelando ver-nos assim como nós também a vós;
7 For this cause, were we consoled, brethren, over you, in all our necessity and tribulation, through your faith;
7 por isso, irmãos, em toda a nossa necessidade e tribulação, ficamos consolados acerca de vós, pela vossa fé,
8 Because, now, we live,if only, ye, stand fast in the Lord.
8 porque agora vivemos, se estais firmes no Senhor.
9 For what thanksgiving can we render back, unto God, concerning you, on occasion of all the joy wherewith we rejoice, for your sakes, before our God?
9 Pois, que ação de graças podemos render a Deus por vós, por todo o gozo com que nos regozijamos por vossa causa diante do nosso Deus,
10 Night and day, making very abundant entreaties, that we may see your face, and fit in the things which are lacking in your faith?
10 rogando incessantemente, de noite e de dia, para que possamos ver o vosso rosto e suprir o que falta à vossa fé?
11 Now may, our God and Father himself and our Lord Jesus, make straight our way unto you:
11 Ora, o próprio Deus e Pai nosso e o nosso Senhor Jesus nos abram o caminho até vós,
12 And, you, may the Lord cause to abound and excel in your love one toward another, and toward all,even as, we, do toward you:
12 e o Senhor vos faça crescer e abundar em amor uns para com os outros e para com todos, como também nós abundamos para convosco;
13 To the end he may confirms your hearts, faultless in holiness, before our God and Father, in the Presence of our Lord Jesus with all his saints.
13 para vos confirmar os corações, de sorte que sejam irrepreensíveis em santidade diante de nosso Deus e Pai, na vinda de nosso Senhor Jesus com todos os seus santos.
