1 Samuel 9

1 Now there was a man of Benjamin, whose name, was Kishson of Abiel, son of Zeror, son of Becorath, son of Aphiah, son of a Benjamite,a mighty man of valour;
1 Ora, havia um homem de Benjamim, cujo nome era Quis, o filho de Abiel, o filho de Zeror, o filho de Becorate, o filho de Afias, um benjamita, um homem poderoso e influente.
2 and, he, had a son, whose name, was Saul, a choice young man and of noble appearance, and there was not a man of the sons of Israel, more noble than he,from his shoulders and upwards, was he taller than any of the people.
2 E ele tinha um filho, cujo nome era Saul, um jovem valoroso, e belo; e não havia entre os filhos de Israel pessoa mais bela do que ele; dos ombros para cima ele era mais alto do que qualquer um do povo.
3 Now there had gone astray asses belonging to Kish, Sauls father,so Kish said unto Saul his sonI pray thee, take with thee one of the young men, and arisego, seek the asses.
3 E os jumentos de Quis, do pai de Saul, estavam perdidos. E Quis disse a Saul, seu filho: Toma agora contigo um dos servos, e levanta, vai procurar os jumentos.
4 And he passed through the hill country of Ephraim, and passed through the land of Shalishah, but they found them not,then passed they through the land of Shaalim, and they were not there, then passed he through the land of the Benjamites, but they found them not.
4 E ele passou pelo monte Efraim, e passou pela terra de Salisa, mas eles não os encontraram; então, eles passaram pela terra de Saalim, e eles não estavam lá; e ele passou pela terra dos benjamitas, mas não os encontraram.
5 They, had come into the land of Zuph when, Saul, said to his young man who was with him, Come! and let us return; lest my father leave off for the asses, and be concerned for us.
5 E quando chegaram à terra de Zufe, Saul disse ao seu servo que com ele estava: Vem, e retornemos; para que o meu pai não deixe de se preocupar com os jumentos, e fique aflito por nós.
6 And he said to him: Lo! I pray thee, a man of God, in this city, and, the man, is held in honour, all that he saith, surely cometh to pass. Now, let us go thither; peradventure he may tell us our way, whereon we should have gone.
6 E ele lhe disse: Vê, agora, nessa cidade há um homem de Deus, e ele é um homem honorável; tudo o que ele diz, seguramente, cumpre-se; agora, vamos para lá; talvez ele possa nos mostrar o caminho pelo qual devamos seguir.
7 Then said Saul to his young man: Behold, if we go, what shall we bring the man, for, the bread, hath failed from our sacks, and, present, there is none to bring to the man of God,what is there with us?
7 Então Saul disse ao seu servo: Porém, vê, se formos, o que traremos ao homem? Pois o pão de nossas vasilhas foi consumido, e não há um presente para levarmos ao homem de Deus; o que temos?
8 And the young man again answered Saul, and saidLo! there is found in my hand, the fourth part of a shekel of silver,which thou canst give to the man of God, and he will tell us our way.
8 E o servo voltou a responder a Saul, e disse: Eis que tenho aqui, à mão, a quarta parte de um shekel de prata; isto darei ao homem de Deus, para que nos diga o nosso caminho.
9 Beforetime, in Israel, thus, said a man when he went to enquire of God, Come and let us go as far as the seer,for, the prophet of to-day, used to be called, beforetime, the seer.
9 (Antigamente, em Israel, quando um homem ia consultar a Deus, assim ele falava: Vem, e vamos ao vidente; pois aquele que é agora chamado de profeta era, antigamente, chamado de vidente.)
10 And Saul said unto his young man, Good, is thy word, come! let us go! So they went unto the city, where the man of God was.
10 Então, Saul disse ao seu servo: Disseste bem; vem e vamos. Assim, eles foram para a cidade onde estava o homem de Deus.
11 They were going up the ascent of the city, when they found young women, coming out to draw water,so they said unto these, Is, the seer, in this place?
11 E enquanto subiam o outeiro até a cidade, encontraram servas jovens indo tirar água, e lhes disseram: Está aqui o vidente?
12 And the young women answered them and said: He is, lo! before you now, even as, to-day, hath he entered the city, for the people have a sacrifice, to-day, in the high place.
12 E elas responderam, e disseram: Está; eis que está diante de vós; apressai-vos, agora, pois ele veio hoje à cidade; pois hoje há um sacrifício do povo no lugar alto;
13 As ye enter the city, so, shall ye surely find him, ere yet he shall go up to the high place to eat, for the people will not eat until he hath come, for, he, doth bless the sacrifice, after that, will they eat who have been bidden. Now, therefore, go up, for, about this very time, shall ye surely find him.
13 tão logo chegardes à cidade, ide encontrá-lo imediatamente, antes que suba ao lugar alto para comer; pois o povo não comerá enquanto ele não vier, porque ele abençoa o sacrifício; e, posteriormente, comem aqueles que foram convidados. Agora, portanto, levantai-vos; pois por volta desta hora vós o encontrareis.
14 So they went up into the city. As they were entering into the midst of the city, lo! Samuel, coming out over against them, to ascend the high place.
14 E eles subiram à cidade; e quando chegaram à cidade, eis que Samuel lhes saía de encontro, para subir ao lugar alto.
15 Now, Yahweh, had unveiled the ear of Samuel,one day before Saul came, saying:
15 Ora, o SENHOR havia falado a Samuel, ao seu ouvido, um dia antes de Saul chegar, dizendo:
16 About this time to-morrow, will I send unto thee, a man out of the land of Benjamin, whom thou shalt anoint, to be leader over my people Israel, and he shall save my people, out of the hand of the Philistines,for I have looked upon the oppression, because their outcry hath come in unto me.
16 Amanhã, por volta desta hora, eu te enviarei um homem da terra de Benjamim, e tu o ungirás para ser capitão sobre o meu povo, Israel, para que ele possa salvar o meu povo da mão dos filisteus; pois tenho atentado ao meu povo, porque o seu clamor tem chegado a mim.
17 And, when, Samuel, beheld Saul, Yahweh, answered him, Lo! the man, of whom I said unto thee, Here, is one shall control my people.
17 E, quando Samuel viu Saul, o SENHOR lhe disse: Eis o homem de quem te falei! Este mesmo reinará sobre o meu povo.
18 And Saul drew near unto Samuel, in the midst of the gate,and saidI pray thee, do tell me, where is the house of the seer?
18 Então, Saul se aproximou de Samuel no portão, e disse: Diz-me, rogo-te, onde é a casa do vidente.
19 And Samuel answered Saul, and saidI, am, the seer! Go up before me, to the high place, so shall ye eat with me, to-day,and I will let thee go in the morning, and, all that is in thy heart, will I tell thee.
19 E Samuel respondeu a Saul, e disse: Eu sou o vidente; sobe adiante de mim até o lugar alto; pois vós comereis comigo hoje e, amanhã, eu vos deixarei partir, e te contarei tudo o que está no teu coração.
20 And, as for the asses that went astray from thee three days ago, do not regard them, for they are found,but to whom belongeth all that is desirable in Israel? is it not to thee, and to all the house of thy father?
20 E, quanto aos teus jumentos que estavam perdidos três dias atrás, não tenhas neles a tua mente; pois foram achados. E sobre quem está todo o desejo de Israel? Não é sobre ti, e sobre toda a casa do teu pai?
21 Then answered Saul, and saidAm not I, a man of Benjamin, of the smallest of the tribes of Israel, and , my family, the poorest of all the families of the tribe of Benjamin? Wherefore, then, hast thou spoken unto me of such a thing as this?
21 E Saul respondeu e disse: Não sou eu um benjamita, da menor das tribos de Israel? E a minha família a menor de todas as famílias da tribo de Benjamim? Por que então falas tu assim comigo?
22 And Samuel took Saul and his young man, and brought them into the guest-chamber,and gave them a place at the head of them who were bidden, they being about thirty persons.
22 E Samuel tomou Saul e o seu servo, e os trouxe ao salão de visitas, e fez com que se assentassem no principal lugar no meio daqueles que foram convidados, que eram cerca de trinta pessoas.
23 And Samuel said to the cook, Set on the portion that I gave thee,of which I said unto thee, Put it by thee.
23 E Samuel disse ao cozinheiro: Traz a porção que eu te dei, da qual eu te disse: Põe-na perto de ti.
24 And the cook took up the shoulder, and that which was upon it, and placed it before Saul, and saidLo! the part reserved! Set it before thee eat, for, unto the time appointed, hath it been kept for thee, since the time that I said, The people, have I bidden. So Saul did eat with Samuel, on that day.
24 E o cozinheiro pegou o acém, e o que sobre ele estava, e o colocou diante de Saul. E Samuel disse: Eis o que foi separado! Põe-no diante de ti, e come; pois até este momento isto foi guardado para ti, desde que eu disse: Eu convidei o povo. Assim, Saul comeu com Samuel naquele dia.
25 And, when they had come down from the high place into the city, he spread a couch for Saul upon the house-top, and he lay down.
25 E quando eles haviam descido do lugar alto para a cidade, Samuel conversou com Saul em cima da casa.
26 And it came to pass, at the uprisings of the dawn, that Samuel called unto Saul on the house-top, saying, Arise! that I may send thee away. So Saul arose, and they two, he and Samuel, went forth abroad.
26 E eles se levantaram cedo; e sucedeu que, por volta do raiar do dia, Samuel chamou Saul para cima da casa, dizendo: Levanta-te, para que eu possa te enviar. E Saul se levantou, e ambos saíram, ele e Samuel, para longe.
27 As they were going down the end of the city, Samuel, said unto SaulBid the young man, that he pass on before us, (and he passed on) but, thou, stand still where thou art, that I may let time hear the word of God.
27 E enquanto eles desciam para a extremidade da cidade, Samuel disse a Saul: Ordena que o servo passe adiante de nós (e ele passou adiante), mas permanece tu ainda por um instante, para que eu possa te mostrar a palavra de Deus.
