1 And it came to pass, that the ark of Yahweh was in the country of the Philistines, seven months.
1 E a arca do SENHOR esteve no país dos filisteus sete meses.
2 Then called the Philistines for the priests and for the diviners, saying, What shall we do with the ark of Yahweh? Let us know, wherewith we shall send it to its own place.
2 E os filisteus convocaram os sacerdotes e os adivinhadores, dizendo: O que faremos com a arca do SENHOR? Dizei-nos como a enviaremos ao seu lugar.
3 And they saidIf ye are going to send away the ark of the God of Israel, do not send it away, empty, but ye must, surely return, to him, a guilt-offering,then, shall ye be healed, and it shall be known to you, wherefore his hand would not turn away from you.
3 E eles disseram: Se mandardes embora a arca do Deus de Israel, não a envieis vazia; mas, seguramente, devolva-lhe uma oferta pela transgressão; então sereis curados, e sabereis porque a sua mão não foi removida de sobre vós.
4 And they saidWhat shall be the guilt-offering, that we shall return to him? And they saidBy the number of the lords of the Philistines, five tumours of gold, and five mice of gold,for, one plague, was on you all, and on your lords.
4 Então, eles disseram: Qual será a oferta pela transgressão que lhe devolveremos? Eles responderam: Cinco hemorroidas de ouro, e cinco camundongos de ouro, de acordo com o número de senhores dos filisteus: pois uma praga esteve sobre vós todos, e sobre os vossos senhores.
5 Wherefore ye shall make likenesses of your turnouts, and likenesses of your mice that are laying waste the land, and shall, give unto the, God of Israel, glory,Peradventure he will lighten his hand from off you, and from off your god, and from off your land.
5 Por isso, fareis imagens das vossas hemorroidas, e imagens dos vossos camundongos que devastam a terra; e dareis glória ao Deus de Israel; talvez ele deseje aliviar a sua mão de sobre vós, e de sobre os vossos deuses, e da vossa terra.
6 Wherefore, then, should ye make your heart dull, as the Egyptians and Pharaoh made their heart dull! When he had done his great doings upon them, did they not let them go, and they departed?
6 Por que, então, endureceis os vossos corações, como os egípcios e Faraó endureceram os seus corações; quando ele havia operado maravilhosamente no meio deles, e eles não permitiam que o povo se fosse, e eles partiram?
7 Now, therefore, take and get ready, one new waggon, and two milch kine, whereon hath never come yoke,then shall ye fasten the kine in the waggon, and withdraw their calves from them, into the shed;
7 Agora, portanto, fazei uma nova carruagem, e tomai duas vacas que amamentam, sobre as quais ainda não tenha sido posto jugo, e amarrai as vacas ao carro, e trazei delas os seus novilhos para casa;
8 and ye shall take the ark of Yahweh, and place it in the waggon, also, the jewels of gold which ye send back to him as a guilt-offering, shall ye put into a coffer, at the side thereof,so shall ye let it go, and it shall depart.
8 e tomai a arca do SENHOR, e a assentai sobre a carruagem; e ponde as joias de ouro, que vós lhe retornais como oferta pela transgressão, em uma caixa ao seu lado; e mandai-a embora, para que possa ir.
9 Then shall ye lookif, by the way of its own boundary, it goeth up to Beth-shemesh, he, it was who caused us this great affliction,but, if not, then shall we know that it was not, his hand, that smote us, a chance, it was, that befell us.
9 E vede, se ela subir pelo caminho do seu próprio termo, até Bete-Semes, então ele nos causou este grande mal; mas se não, nós saberemos que não foi a sua mão que nos feriu; foi um acaso que nos sobreveio.
10 The men, therefore, did so, and took two milch kine, and fastened them in the waggon,but, their calves, shut they up in the shed.
10 E os homens assim fizeram; e tomaram duas vacas que amamentavam, e as prenderam a carruagem, e trancafiaram os seus novilhos em casa;
11 And they put the ark of Yahweh, into the waggon,also the coffer, with the mice of gold, and the likenesses of their tumours.
11 e assentaram a arca do SENHOR sobre a carruagem, e a caixa com os camundongos de ouro e as imagens das suas hemorroidas.
12 And the kine went straight along the road, on the way to Beth-shemesh, yea, along the main highway, they went, lowing as they went, turning not aside, to the right hand or to the left. And, the lords of the Philistines, went along after them, as far as the bounds of Beth-shemesh.
12 E as vacas tomaram o caminho reto até o caminho de Bete-Semes, e seguiram pelo caminho principal, mugindo enquanto seguiam, e não se desviaram para a direita, nem para a esquerda; e os senhores dos filisteus seguiram após elas, até o limite de Bete-Semes.
13 Now, they of Beth-shemesh, were reaping their wheat-harvest in the vale,so they lifted up their eyes, and saw the ark, and rejoiced to meet it.
13 E os de Bete-Semes estavam ceifando sua colheita de trigo no vale; e eles levantaram os seus olhos, e viram a arca, e se alegraram em vê-la.
14 And, the waggon, entered into the field of Joshua, a man of Beth-shemesh, and stood still, there, where also, was a great stone,so they clave into pieces the planks of the waggon, and, the kine, offered they up as an ascending-sacrifice, unto Yahweh.
14 E a carruagem adentrou o campo de Josué, um bete-semita, e ali permaneceu, onde havia uma grande pedra; e racharam a madeira do carro, e ofereceram as vacas em oferta queimada ao SENHOR.
15 And, the Levites, took down the ark of Yahweh, and the coffer that was with it, wherein were the jewels of gold, and put them upon the great stone,and, the men of Beth-shemesh, caused to go up ascending-offerings and offered sacrifices, that day, unto Yahweh.
15 E os levitas fizeram descer a arca do SENHOR, e a caixa que com ela estava, dentro da qual as joias de ouro estavam, e as colocaram sobre a grande pedra; e os homens de Bete-Semes ofereceram ofertas queimadas e sacrificaram sacrifícios no mesmo dia ao SENHOR.
16 And, the five lords of the Philistines, saw it,and returned unto Ekron, the same day.
16 E quando os cinco senhores dos filisteus viram aquilo, retornaram a Ecrom no mesmo dia.
17 Now, these, are the golden boils which, the Philistines returned as a guilt-offering unto Yahweh,For Ashdod, one, for Gaza, one, for Ashkelon, one, for Gath, one, for Ekron, one;
17 E estas são as hemorroidas de ouro que os filisteus devolveram como oferta pela transgressão ao SENHOR; uma por Asdode, uma por Gaza, uma por Asquelom, uma por Gate, uma por Ecrom;
18 And the golden mice, by the number of all the cities of the Philistines, pertaining to the five lords, both fortified cities, and country villages,yea, even the great meadow whereon they rested the ark of Yahweh, until this day, is in the field-land of Joshua, the man of Beth-shemesh.
18 e os camundongos de ouro, de acordo com o número de todas as cidades dos filisteus pertencentes aos cinco senhores, tanto das cidades fortificadas, como das aldeias do campo, até a grande pedra de Abel, sobre a qual eles desceram a arca do SENHOR; tal pedra permanece até este dia no campo de Josué, o bete-semita.
19 And, when he smote the men of Beth-shemesh, because they looked into the ark of Yahweh, yea smote of the people seventy men fifty thousand men, the people mourned, for that Yahweh had smitten the people with a great smiting.
19 E ele feriu os homens de Bete-Semes, porque eles haviam olhado para dentro da arca do SENHOR, ele até feriu, do povo, cinquenta mil e setenta homens; e o povo lamentou, porque o SENHOR havia ferido muitos do povo com um grande massacre.
20 Then said the men of Beth-shemesh, Who is able to stand before Yahweh, this holy God? and, unto whom, shall he go up from us?
20 E os homens de Bete-Semes disseram: Quem é capaz de permanecer de pé diante deste SENHOR Deus santo? E a quem subirá dentre nós?
21 And they sent messengers unto the inhabitants of Kiriath-jearim, saying,The Philistines have returned the ark of Yahweh, come down, fetch it up unto you.
21 E eles enviaram mensageiros aos habitantes de Quiriate-Jearim, dizendo: Os filisteus trouxeram novamente a arca do SENHOR; descei, e fazei-a subir até vós.
