1 Samuel 16

1 And Yahweh said unto SamuelHow long, art thou going to pine for Saul, seeing that, I, have rejected him from being king over Israel? Fill thy horn with oil, and come! let me send thee unto Jesse the Bethlehemite, for I have provided me, among his sons, a king.
1 E o SENHOR disse a Samuel: Por quanto tempo lamentarás por Saul, ao veres que eu rejeitei o seu reinado sobre Israel? Enche o teu chifre de azeite e vai, eu te enviarei a Jessé, o belemita; pois providenciei um rei para mim dentre os seus filhos.
2 And Samuel said, How can I go? As soon as Saul heareth, he will slay me. Then said Yahweh, A heifer, take thou with thee, and say, To sacrifice unto Yahweh, am I come.
2 E Samuel disse: Como poderei ir? Se Saul ouvir isto, ele me matará. E o SENHOR disse: Toma contigo uma novilha, e diz: Vim para sacrificar ao SENHOR.
3 Then shall thou bid Jesse to the sacrifice,when, I, will let thee know what thou must do, so shalt thou anoint for me him whom I shall name unto thee.
3 E chama Jessé para o sacrifício, e te mostrarei o que haverás de fazer; e tu ungirás para mim aquele que eu te indicar.
4 And Samuel did that which Yahweh had spoken, and went to Bethlehem. And the elders of the city came trembling to meet him, and one saidPeaceably, comest thou?
4 E Samuel fez aquilo que o SENHOR falou, e veio a Belém. E os anciãos do vilarejo tremeram com a sua chegada, e disseram: Vens tu pacificamente?
5 And he saidPeaceably: to sacrifice unto Yahweh, am I come. Hallow yourselves, and come with me to the sacrifice. And he hallowed Jesse and his sons, and bade them to the sacrifice.
5 E ele disse: Pacificamente, vim para sacrificar ao SENHOR; santificai-vos e vinde comigo ao sacrifício. E ele santificou Jessé e os seus filhos, e os chamou ao sacrifício.
6 And it came to pass, when they entered, that he looked upon Eliab,and said to himself, Surely, before Yahweh, is his Anointed.
6 E sucedeu que, quando eles chegaram, ele olhou para Eliabe, e disse: Certamente, o ungido do SENHOR está diante dele.
7 But Yahweh said unto SamuelDo not regard his countenance, or the height of his stature, for I have rejected him,for it is not what man looketh to but what God looketh to. For, man, looketh to the outward appearance, but, Yahweh, looketh to the heart.
7 Porém, o SENHOR disse a Samuel: Não olhe para a sua aparência, nem para a altura da sua estatura; porque eu o recusei; pois o SENHOR não vê como vê o homem; pois o homem olha para a aparência exterior, mas o SENHOR olha para o coração.
8 Then Jesse called Abinadab, and made him pass before Samuel,and he said, Neither of this one, hath Yahweh made choice.
8 Então, Jessé chamou Abinadabe, e fê-lo passar diante de Samuel. E ele disse: Nem este escolheu o SENHOR.
9 Then Jesse made Shammah pass by,and he saidNor of this one, hath Yahweh made choice.
9 Então Jessé fez passar Samá. E ele disse: Nem este escolheu o SENHOR.
10 So Jesse made seven of his sons pass before Samuel,and Samuel said unto Jesse, Yahweh hath not made choice of these.
10 Assim, Jessé fez com que sete dos seus filhos passassem diante de Samuel. E Samuel disse a Jessé: O SENHOR não escolheu estes.
11 Then said Samuel unto JesseAre these all the young men? And he saidThere yet remaineth, the youngest, but lo! he is tending the sheep. Then said Samuel unto JesseDo, send, and summon him, for we cannot sit round, until he cometh in hither.
11 E Samuel disse a Jessé: Estão aqui todos os teus filhos? E ele disse: Resta ainda o mais jovem, e eis que ele cuida das ovelhas. E Samuel disse a Jessé: Mandai trazê-lo, pois não nos assentaremos até que ele aqui venha.
12 So he sent, and brought him in. Now, he, was ruddy, a stripling with handsome eyes, and noble mien. Then said YahwehRiseanoint him, for, this, is, he.
12 E ele mandou buscá-lo e o trouxeram para dentro. Ora, ele era ruivo, e, ao mesmo tempo, de formosa aparência, e agradável de se olhar. E o SENHOR disse: Levanta-te e unge-o; pois este é ele.
13 And Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren. And the Spirit of Yahweh came mightily upon David, from that day forward. Then arose Samuel, and went his way unto Ramah.
13 Então Samuel pegou o chifre de azeite, e o ungiu no meio dos seus irmãos; e o Espírito do SENHOR veio sobre Davi daquele dia em diante. Então, Samuel se levantou e foi para Ramá.
14 But, the spirit of Yahweh, departed from Saul,and there terrified him a sad spirit, from Yahweh.
14 Porém, o Espírito do SENHOR retirou-se de Saul, e um espírito maligno da parte do SENHOR o atormentou.
15 Then said the servants of Saul unto him,Lo! we pray thee, a sad superhuman spirit, doth terrify thee:
15 E os servos de Saul lhe disseram: Eis que, agora um espírito maligno da parte de Deus te atormenta.
16 Pray let our lord bid thy servants before thee, seek out a man, skilled in playing on the lyre,so shall it be, when a sad superhuman spirit cometh on thee, then shall he play with his hand, and thou shalt be joyful.
16 Que o nosso senhor, agora, ordene aos servos os quais estão diante de ti que procurem um homem que seja um hábil tocador de harpa; e sucederá que, quando o espírito mal da parte de Deus estiver sobre ti, ele tocará com a sua mão, e tu ficarás bem.
17 And Saul said unto his servants,I pray you, look out for me a man that excelleth in playing, and bring him in unto me.
17 E Saul disse aos seus servos: Providenciai-me, agora, um homem que possa tocar bem, e trazei-mo.
18 Then responded one of the young men and saidLo! I have seena son of Jesse, the Bethlehemite, skilled in playing, and a mighty man of valour, and a man of war, and of intelligent speech, and a handsome man, and, Yahweh, is with him.
18 Então, respondeu um dos servos, e disse: Eis que vi um filho de Jessé, o belemita, que é hábil em tocar, e um homem forte e valente, e um homem de guerra, e prudente em questões, e uma pessoa formosa, e o SENHOR está com ele.
19 So Saul sent messengers unto Jesse,and said, Send, unto meDavid thy son, who is with the sheep.
19 Por isso enviou Saul mensageiros até Jessé, e disse: Envia-me Davi, o teu filho, que está com as ovelhas.
20 Then took Jesse an ass laden with bread, and a skin of wine, and one kid,and sent by the hand of David his son, unto Saul.
20 E Jessé tomou um jumento carregado com pão, e uma garrafa de vinho, e um cabrito, e os enviou por intermédio de Davi, o seu filho, até Saul.
21 And David came in unto Saul,and stood before him,and he loved him greatly, and he became his armour-bearer.
21 E Davi veio a Saul, e pôs-se de pé diante dele; e ele o amou sobremaneira; e ele se tornou o seu escudeiro.
22 And Saul sent unto Jesse, saying,I pray thee, let David stand before me, for he hath found favour in mine eyes.
22 E Saul enviou a Jessé, dizendo: Permite que Davi, rogo-te, ponha-se diante de mim; pois ele achou favor à minha vista.
23 And so it used to be, when a superhuman spirit came unto Saul, then would David take the lyre, and play with his hand,and Saul would be refreshed, and be joyful, and, the sad spirit, would depart from him.
23 E sucedia que, quando o espírito maligno da parte de Deus estava sobre Saul, Davi pegava a harpa e tocava com a sua mão; assim Saul se revigorava, e ficava bem, e o espírito maligno partia dele.
