1 Jeesus jatkoi vertauspuheitaan ja sanoi heille:
1 Jesus tornou a falar-lhes por meio de parábolas:

2 The kingdom of the heavens has become like a king who made a wedding feast for his son,
3 Hän lähetti palvelijoitaan kutsumaan häävieraita, mutta kutsun saaneet eivät tahtoneet tulla.
3 and sent his bondmen to call the persons invited to the wedding feast, and they would not come.
4 Silloin hän lähetti toisia palvelijoita ja käski heidän sanoa kutsutuille: 'Olen valmistanut ateriani, härät ja syöttövasikat on teurastettu, kaikki on valmiina. Tulkaa häihin!'
4 Again he sent other bondmen, saying, Say to the persons invited, Behold, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and my fatted beasts are killed, and all things ready; come to the wedding feast.
5 Mutta kutsun saaneista toiset eivät välittäneet siitä, vaan menivät muualle, kuka pellolleen, kuka kaupoilleen,
5 But they made light of it, and went, one to his own land, and another to his commerce.
6 toiset taas ottivat kuninkaan palvelijat kiinni, pieksivät heitä ja löivät heidät hengiltä.
6 And the rest, laying hold of his bondmen, ill-treated and slew {them}.
7 Silloin kuningas vihastui. Hän lähetti sotajoukkonsa, surmasi murhamiehet ja poltti heidän kaupunkinsa.
7 And {when} the king {heard of it he} was wroth, and having sent his forces, destroyed those murderers and burned their city.
8 Sitten kuningas sanoi palvelijoilleen: 'Kaikki on valmiina hääjuhlaa varten, mutta kutsutut eivät olleet juhlan arvoisia.
8 Then he says to his bondmen, The wedding feast is ready, but those invited were not worthy;
9 Menkää nyt teille ja toreille ja kutsukaa häihin keitä vain tapaatte.'
9 go therefore into the thoroughfares of the highways, and as many as ye shall find invite to the wedding feast.
10 Palvelijat menivät ja keräsivät kaikki, jotka he tapasivat, niin pahat kuin hyvät, ja häähuone täyttyi aterialle tulleista.
10 And those bondmen went out into the highways, and brought together all as many as they found, both evil and good; and the wedding feast was furnished with guests.

11 And the king, having gone in to see the guests, beheld there a man not clothed with a wedding garment.
12 Hän kysyi tältä: 'Ystäväni, kuinka saatoit tulla tänne ilman häävaatteita?' Mies ei saanut sanaa suustaan.
12 And he says to him, {My} friend, how camest thou in here not having on a wedding garment? But he was speechless.
13 Silloin kuningas sanoi palvelijoilleen: 'Sitokaa hänet käsistä ja jaloista ja heittäkää ulos pimeyteen. Siellä itketään ja kiristellään hampaita.
13 Then said the king to the servants, Bind him feet and hands, and take him away, and cast him out into the outer darkness: there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.

14 For many are called ones, but few chosen ones.
15 Silloin fariseukset menivät neuvottelemaan keskenään, miten saisivat Jeesuksen sanoistaan ansaan.

16 And they send out to him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Teacher, we know that thou art true and teachest the way of God in truth, and carest not for any one, for thou regardest not men's person;

17 tell us therefore what thou thinkest: Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not?
18 — ausente —
18 But Jesus, knowing their wickedness, said, Why tempt ye me, hypocrites?
19 — ausente —
19 Shew me the money of the tribute. And they presented to him a denarius.
20 — ausente —
20 And he says to them, Whose {is} this image and superscription?
21 — ausente —
21 They say to him, Caesar's. Then he says to them, Pay then what is Caesar's to Caesar, and what is God's to God.
22 Kuullessaan tämän he hämmästyivät. He jättivät Jeesuksen rauhaan ja lähtivät pois.
22 And when they heard {him}, they wondered, and left him, and went away.
23 Samana päivänä Jeesuksen luo tuli saddukeuksia, jotka kieltävät ylösnousemuksen. He esittivät hänelle kysymyksen:

24 saying, Teacher, Moses said, If any one die, not having children, his brother shall marry his wife and shall raise up seed to his brother.
25 Keskuudessamme oli seitsemän veljestä. Vanhin heistä meni naimisiin, mutta kuoli, ja koska hänellä ei ollut lapsia, leski jäi hänen veljelleen.
25 Now there were with us seven brethren; and the first having married died, and not having seed, left his wife to his brother.
26 Samoin kävi toiselle veljelle, niin myös kolmannelle ja lopulta kaikille seitsemälle.
26 In like manner also the second and the third, unto the seven.
27 Viimeisenä kaikista kuoli nainen.
27 And last of all the woman also died.

28 In the resurrection therefore of which of the seven shall she be wife, for all had her?

29 And Jesus answering said to them, Ye err, not knowing the scriptures nor the power of God.
30 Ei ylösnousemuksessa oteta vaimoa eikä mennä vaimoksi. Ylösnousseet ovat kuin enkelit taivaassa.
30 For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are as angels of God in heaven.
31 Mutta ylösnousemuksesta puheen ollen -- ettekö ole lukeneet, mitä Jumala on teille sanonut:
31 Quanto à ressurreição dos mortos, não lestes o que Deus vos disse:
32 — ausente —
32 Eu sou o Deus de Abraão, o Deus de Isaac e o Deus de Jacó {Ex 3,6}? Ora, ele não é Deus dos mortos, mas Deus dos vivos.
33 Kun väkijoukko kuuli tämän, se oli ihmeissään hänen opetuksestaan.
33 E, ouvindo esta doutrina, as turbas se enchiam de grande admiração.
34 Kun fariseukset kuulivat, että Jeesus oli tukkinut saddukeuksilta suun, he kokoontuivat neuvonpitoon.
34 Sabendo os fariseus que Jesus reduzira ao silêncio os saduceus, reuniram-se
35 Sitten yksi heistä, joka oli lainopettaja, kysyi Jeesukselta pannakseen hänet koetukselle:

36 Opettaja, mikä on lain suurin käsky?
36 Mestre, qual é o maior mandamento da lei?

37 Respondeu Jesus: Amarás o Senhor teu Deus de todo teu coração, de toda tua alma e de todo teu espírito {Dt 6,5}.
38 Tämä on käskyistä suurin ja tärkein.
38 Este é o maior e o primeiro mandamento.
39 Toinen yhtä tärkeä on tämä: Rakasta lähimmäistäsi niin kuin itseäsi.
39 E o segundo, semelhante a este, é: Amarás teu próximo como a ti mesmo {Lv 19,18}.

40 Nesses dois mandamentos se resumem toda a lei e os profetas.
41 Fariseusten ollessa koolla Jeesus kysyi heiltä:
41 Como os fariseus se agrupassem, Jesus interrogou-os:

42 Que pensais vós de Cristo? De quem é filho? Responderam: De Davi!
43 — ausente —
43 Como então, prosseguiu Jesus, Davi, falando sob inspiração do Espírito, chama-o Senhor, dizendo:
44 -- Herra sanoi minun herralleni: Istu oikealle puolelleni. Minä kukistan vihollisesi, panen heidät jalkojesi alle.
44 O Senhor disse a meu Senhor: Senta-te à minha direita, até que eu ponha teus inimigos por escabelo dos teus pés {Sl 109,1}?
45 — ausente —
45 Se, pois, Davi o chama Senhor, como é ele seu filho?
46 Kukaan ei pystynyt vastaamaan hänelle, eikä yksikään siitä päivästä lähtien enää rohjennut kysyä häneltä mitään. 23
46 Ninguém pôde responder-lhe nada. E, depois daquele dia, ninguém mais ousou interrogá-lo.
