1 Now on the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar, when the time came for the king's order to be put into effect, on the very day when the enemies of the Jews hoped to rule over them the opposite occurred, and the Jews had rule over their enemies.
1 Assim, no dia 7 de março, os dois decretos do rei entraram em vigor. Nesse dia, os inimigos dos judeus esperavam dominá-los, mas aconteceu o contrário; os judeus dominaram seus inimigos.
2 On that day, the Jews came together in their towns through all the divisions of the kingdom of Ahasuerus, for the purpose of attacking all those who were attempting evil against them. Everyone had to give way before them. All the people feared them.
2 Reuniram-se em suas cidades em todas as províncias do rei Xerxes para atacar qualquer um que procurasse lhes fazer mal. Ninguém conseguiu resistir-lhes, pois todos tinham muito medo deles.
3 And all the chiefs and the captains and the rulers and those who did the king's business supported the Jews because the fear of Mordecai had come on them.
3 E todos os nobres das províncias, os mais altos oficiais, os governadores e os oficiais do rei ajudaram os judeus, pois temiam Mardoqueu.
4 For Mordecai was great in the king's house. Word about him went out through every part of the kingdom: for the man Mordecai became greater and greater.
4 Ele havia sido promovido no palácio do rei e, à medida que se tornava mais poderoso, sua fama se espalhava por todas as províncias.
5 So the Jews overcame all their attackers with the sword and with death and destruction, and did to their enemies whatever they had a desire to do.
5 Portanto, na data marcada, os judeus feriram seus inimigos à espada. Mataram e aniquilaram seus inimigos e fizeram o que queriam com aqueles que os odiavam.
6 The Jews put to death five hundred men in Shushan.
6 Só na fortaleza de Susã, os judeus atacaram e mataram quinhentos homens.

10 The ten sons of Haman the son of Hammedatha, the hater of the Jews; but they put not a hand on any of their goods.
10 os dez filhos de Hamã, filho de Hamedata, inimigo dos judeus. No entanto, não tomaram nenhum despojo.
11 On that day the number of those who had been put to death in the town of Shushan was given to the king.
11 Naquele mesmo dia, quando o rei foi informado do número de pessoas mortas na fortaleza de Susã,
12 The king said to Esther the queen: »The Jews have put five hundred men to death in Shushan, as well as the ten sons of Haman. What then have they done in the rest of the kingdom! Now what is your petition? For it will be given to you. What other request have you? And it will be done.«
12 mandou chamar a rainha Ester e disse: “Só na fortaleza de Susã, os judeus mataram quinhentos homens, além dos filhos de Hamã. Se fizeram isso aqui, o que terão feito nas províncias? E agora, o que mais deseja? Seu pedido será atendido; diga-me e será feito”.
13 Then Esther said: »If it is the king's pleasure, let authority be given to the Jews in Shushan to do tomorrow as has been done today, and let orders be given for the hanging of Haman's ten sons.«
13 Ester respondeu: “Se parecer bem ao rei, dê permissão aos judeus de Susã para que façam novamente amanhã o mesmo que fizeram hoje; e que os corpos dos dez filhos de Hamã sejam pendurados na forca”.
14 The king said that this was to be done, and the order was given out in Shushan. The hanging of Haman's ten sons was carried out.
14 O rei concordou e publicou o decreto em Susã, e os corpos dos dez filhos de Hamã foram pendurados na forca.
15 The Jews who were in Shushan came together again on the fourteenth day of the month Adar and put to death three hundred men in Shushan. They did not take their material goods.
15 Então, no dia 8 de março, os judeus de Susã se reuniram e mataram trezentos homens. Mais uma vez, porém, não tomaram nenhum despojo.
16 The other Jews in every division of the kingdom came together, fighting for their lives, and got salvation from their enemies and put seventy-five thousand of them to death. They did not put a hand on their material goods.
16 Enquanto isso, os outros judeus em todas as províncias do rei haviam se reunido para defender a própria vida. Livraram-se de seus inimigos ao matar 75 mil dos que odiavam os judeus. No entanto, não tomaram nenhum despojo.
17 This they did on the thirteenth day of the month Adar; and on the fourteenth day of the same month they took their rest, and made it a day of feasting and joy.
17 Isso foi feito em todas as províncias no dia 7 de março, e no dia 8 descansaram e comemoraram sua vitória com um dia de festa e alegria.
18 The Jews in Shushan came together on the thirteenth and on the fourteenth day of the month. On the fifteenth day they took their rest, and made it a day of feasting and joy.
18 (Os judeus de Susã mataram seus inimigos nos dias 7 e 8 de março e descansaram no dia 9, fazendo dele um dia de festa e alegria.)
19 So the Jews of the country places living in unwalled towns make the fourteenth day of the month Adar a day of feasting and joy and a good day, a day for sending offerings one to another.
19 Por isso, os judeus que vivem em povoados nas regiões rurais celebram a festa anual nesse dia determinado, data em que se alegram, festejam e presenteiam uns aos outros com alimentos.
20 Mordecai sent letters to all the Jews in every division of the kingdom of Ahasuerus, near and far.
20 Mardoqueu registrou esses acontecimentos e enviou cartas aos judeus em todas as províncias do rei Xerxes, tanto aos de perto como aos de longe,
21 He ordered them to keep the fourteenth day of the month Adar and the fifteenth day of the same month, every year.
21 instruindo-os a celebrar uma festa anual nesses dois dias.
22 As days on which the Jews had rest from their haters, and the month which for them was turned from sorrow to joy, and from weeping to a good day: and that they were to keep them as days of feasting and joy, of sending offerings to one another and good things to the poor.
22 Ordenou que celebrassem com festas e alegria, presenteando uns aos outros com alimentos e distribuindo presentes aos pobres. Assim, recordariam a ocasião em que os judeus se livraram de seus inimigos e em que sua tristeza foi transformada em alegria, e seu lamento, em dia de festa.
23 The Jews gave their word to go on as they had been doing and as Mordecai had given them orders in writing.
23 Os judeus aceitaram a orientação de Mardoqueu e adotaram esse costume anual.
24 Because Haman, the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, the hater of all the Jews, conspired for their destruction, attempting to get a decision by Pur that is, chance with a view to putting an end to them and cutting them off.
24 Hamã, filho de Hamedata, o agagita, inimigo dos judeus, havia tramado destruí-los numa data determinada pelo lançamento de sortes (chamadas purim).
25 But when the business was put before the king, he gave orders by letters that the evil design that he had made against the Jews was to be turned against him. That he and his sons were to be put to death by hanging.
25 Mas, quando Ester foi à presença do rei, ele publicou um decreto que fez o plano perverso de Hamã se voltar contra ele, e Hamã e seus filhos foram pendurados numa forca.
26 So these days were named Purim, after the name of Pur. And so, because of the words of this letter, and of what they had seen in connection with this business, and what had come to them,
26 Por isso, essa comemoração se chama Purim, palavra que se usava antigamente para “lançar sortes”. Assim, por causa da carta de Mardoqueu e daquilo que lhes havia acontecido,
27 The Jews made a rule and established a custom that all their descendents should observe two days every year as ordered in the letter, at the fixed time every year.
27 os judeus em todo o reino concordaram em dar início a essa tradição e transmiti-la a seus descendentes e a todos que se tornassem judeus. Declararam que não deixariam de celebrar anualmente esses dois dias na data determinada.
28 Those days were to be kept in memory through every generation and every family, in every division of the kingdom and every town, that there might never be a time when these days of Purim would not be kept among the Jews, or when the memory of them would go from the minds of their descendents.
28 Esses dias seriam lembrados e comemorados de geração em geração, por todas as famílias, em todas as províncias e cidades do império. A Festa de Purim jamais deixaria de ser celebrada pelos judeus, nem a lembrança do que havia acontecido se apagaria entre seus descendentes.
29 Esther the queen, daughter of Abihail, and Mordecai the Jew, sent a second letter giving the force of their authority to the order about the Purim.
29 Então a rainha Ester, filha de Abiail, e o judeu Mardoqueu escreveram outra carta com toda a autoridade para confirmar a carta de Mardoqueu e estabelecer a Festa de Purim.
30 He sent letters to all the Jews in the hundred and twenty-seven divisions of the kingdom of Ahasuerus, with true words of peace,
30 Enviaram cartas a todos os judeus das 127 províncias do império de Xerxes, desejando-lhes paz e segurança.
31 Giving the force of law to these days of Purim at their fixed times, as they had been ordered by Mordecai the Jew and Esther the queen. This was in keeping with the rules they had made for themselves and their descendents, in connection with their time of going without food and their cry for help.
31 Essas cartas estabeleciam a Festa de Purim, uma celebração anual desses dias na data determinada, conforme decretado tanto pelo judeu Mardoqueu como pela rainha Ester. O povo resolveu celebrar essa festa, assim como haviam estabelecido para si e seus descendentes os tempos de jejum e de lamentação.
32 The order given by Esther gave the force of law to the rules about the Purim. It was recorded in the book.
32 Assim, o decreto de Ester confirmou as orientações para a Festa de Purim, e tudo foi escrito nos registros.
