1 David conferred with each of his officers, the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds.
1 Consultou Davi os capitães de mil, e os de cem, e todos os príncipes;
2 He then said to the whole assembly of Israel, "If it seems good to you and if it is the will of the LORD our God, let us send word far and wide to the rest of our people throughout the territories of Israel, and also to the priests and Levites who are with them in their towns and pasturelands, to come and join us.
2 e disse a toda a congregação de Israel: Se bem vos parece, e se vem isso do Senhor , nosso Deus, enviemos depressa mensageiros a todos os nossos outros irmãos em todas as terras de Israel, e aos sacerdotes, e aos levitas com eles nas cidades e nos seus arredores, para que se reúnam conosco;
3 Let us bring the ark of our God back to us, for we did not inquire of "it "during the reign of Saul."
3 tornemos a trazer para nós a arca do nosso Deus; porque nos dias de Saul não nos valemos dela.
4 The whole assembly agreed to do this, because it seemed right to all the people.
4 Então, toda a congregação concordou em que assim se fizesse; porque isso pareceu justo aos olhos de todo o povo.
5 So David assembled all Israel, from the Shihor River in Egypt to Lebo Hamath, to bring the ark of God from Kiriath Jearim.
5 Reuniu, pois, Davi a todo o Israel, desde Sior do Egito até à entrada de Hamate, para trazer a arca de Deus de Quiriate-Jearim.
6 David and all Israel went to Baalah of Judah (Kiriath Jearim) to bring up from there the ark of God the LORD, who is enthroned between the cherubim —the ark that is called by the Name.
6 Então, Davi, com todo o Israel, subiu a Baalá, isto é, a Quiriate-Jearim, que está em Judá, para fazer subir dali a arca de Deus, diante da qual é invocado o nome do Senhor , que se assenta acima dos querubins.
7 They moved the ark of God from Abinadab's house on a new cart, with Uzzah and Ahio guiding it.
7 Puseram a arca de Deus num carro novo e a levaram da casa de Abinadabe; e Uzá e Aiô guiavam o carro.
8 David and all the Israelites were celebrating with all their might before God, with songs and with harps, lyres, timbrels, cymbals and trumpets.
8 Davi e todo o Israel alegravam-se perante Deus, com todo o seu empenho; em cânticos, com harpas, com alaúdes, com tamboris, com címbalos e com trombetas.
9 When they came to the threshing floor of Kidon, Uzzah reached out his hand to steady the ark, because the oxen stumbled.
9 Quando chegaram à eira de Quidom, estendeu Uzá a mão à arca para a segurar, porque os bois tropeçaram.
10 The LORD's anger burned against Uzzah, and he struck him down because he had put his hand on the ark. So he died there before God.
10 Então, a ira do Senhor se acendeu contra Uzá e o feriu, por ter estendido a mão à arca; e morreu ali perante Deus.
11 Then David was angry because the LORD's wrath had broken out against Uzzah, and to this day that place is called Perez Uzzah. [^3]
11 Desgostou-se Davi, porque o Senhor irrompera contra Uzá; pelo que chamou àquele lugar Perez-Uzá, até ao dia de hoje.
12 David was afraid of God that day and asked, "How can I ever bring the ark of God to me?"
12 Temeu Davi a Deus, naquele dia, e disse: Como trarei a mim a arca de Deus?
13 He did not take the ark to be with him in the City of David. Instead, he took it to the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite.
13 Pelo que Davi não trouxe a arca para si, para a Cidade de Davi; mas a fez levar à casa de Obede-Edom, o geteu.
14 The ark of God remained with the family of Obed-Edom in his house for three months, and the LORD blessed his household and everything he had.
14 Assim, ficou a arca de Deus com a família de Obede-Edom, três meses em sua casa; e o Senhor abençoou a casa de Obede-Edom e tudo o que ele tinha.
