1 He said to me, "Son of man, stand on your feet, and I will speak with you."
1 Filho do homem, dizia-me, fica de pé, porque eu te falo!
2 The Spirit entered into me when he spoke to me, and set me on my feet; and I heard him who spoke to me.
2 Enquanto ela me falava, entrou o espírito em mim, e me fez ficar de pé; então ouvi aquele que me falava.
3 He said to me, "Son of man, I send you to the children of Israel, to a nation of rebels who have rebelled against me. They and their fathers have transgressed against me even to this very day.
3 Filho do homem, dizia-me, envio-te aos israelitas, a essa nação de rebeldes, revoltada contra mim, a qual, do mesmo modo que seus pais, vem pecando contra mim até este dia.
4 The children are impudent and stiff-hearted: I am sending you to them; and you shall tell them, 'Thus says the Lord God.'
4 É a esses filhos de testa dura e de coração insensível que te envio, para lhes dizer: oráculo do Senhor Javé.
5 They, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear, (for they are a rebellious house), yet shall know that there has been a prophet among them.
5 Quer te ouçam ou não {pois é uma raça indomável}, hão de ficar sabendo que há um profeta no meio deles!
6 You, son of man, do not be afraid of them, neither be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns are with you, and you do dwell among scorpions: do not be afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they are a rebellious house.
6 Quanto a ti, filho do homem, não os temas, nem te arreceies dos seus intentos, conquanto estejas entre moitas de abrolhos e de espinhos e vivas entre escorpiões; não te deixes intimidar por suas palavras, nem te espantes com sua atitude, porque é uma raça rebelde.
7 You shall speak my words to them, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear; for they are most rebellious.
7 Tu lhes transmitirás os meus oráculos, quer te dêem ouvidos ou não; é uma raça pertinaz.
8 But you, son of man, hear what I tell you; do not be rebellious like that rebellious house: open your mouth, and eat that which I give you."
8 E tu, filho do homem, escuta o que eu te digo: não sejas rebelde, como essa raça de rebelados. Abre a boca e come o que te vou dar.
9 When I looked, behold, a hand was put forth to me; and, behold, a scroll of a book was therein;
9 Olhei e vi avançando para mim uma mão, que segurava um manuscrito enrolado,
10 He spread it before me: and it was written within and without; and there were written therein lamentations, and mourning, and woe.
10 que foi desdobrado diante de mim: estava coberto com escrita de um e de outro lado: eram cânticos de luto, de queixumes e de gemidos.
