1 After the uproar had ceased, Paul sent for the disciples and, after embracing them, bade them farewell, and started for Macedonia.
1 Cessado o tumulto, Paulo mandou chamar os discípulos e, tendo-os encorajado, despediu-se e foi para a Macedônia.
2 And when he had passed through those districts and encouraged the disciples in many addresses, he came into Greece where he spent three months.
2 Havendo atravessado aquelas terras, fortalecendo os discípulos com muitas exortações, dirigiu-se para a Grécia,
3 Just as he was about to set sail for Syria, the Jews laid a plot against him, and he determined to return through Macedonia.
3 onde se demorou três meses. Quando estava para embarcar rumo à Síria, houve uma conspiração por parte dos judeus contra ele. Então decidiu voltar pela Macedônia.
4 There accompanied him as far as Asia, Sopater of Berea, the son of Pyrrhus; and of the Thessalonians, Aristarchus and Secundus; and Gaius of Derbe, and Timothy; and the Asians, Tychicus and Trophimus.
4 Acompanharam-no Sópatro, de Bereia, filho de Pirro; Aristarco e Secundo, de Tessalônica; Gaio, de Derbe; Timóteo; e também Tíquico e Trófimo, da província da Ásia.
5 Now these had gone on, and were awaiting us at Troas;
5 Estes nos precederam, ficando à nossa espera em Trôade.
6 but we ourselves set sail from Philippi, after the days of unleavened bread, and joined them five days later at Troas. There we remained for a week.
6 Depois dos dias dos pães sem fermento, navegamos de Filipos e, em cinco dias, nos encontramos com eles em Trôade, onde passamos uma semana.
7 On the first day of the week we met for the breaking of bread, and Paul, who was going away the next morning, began preaching to them, and prolonged his discourse until midnight.
7 No primeiro dia da semana, nós nos reunimos a fim de partir o pão. Paulo, que pretendia viajar no dia seguinte, falava aos irmãos e prolongou a mensagem até a meia-noite.
8 Now there were many lamps in the upper room where we were assembled,
8 Havia muitas lâmpadas no cenáculo onde estávamos reunidos.
9 and a young man named Eutychus was sitting in a window, overborne by deep sleep, while Paul continued to preach at length. Overcome at last by sleep, he fell down from the third story, and was taken up dead.
9 Um jovem, chamado Êutico, que estava sentado numa janela, adormecendo profundamente durante a prolongada mensagem de Paulo, vencido pelo sono, caiu do terceiro andar abaixo. Quando o levantaram, estava morto.
10 Then Paul went down, threw himself upon him, and embracing him, said. "Do not lament; his life is still in him."
10 Mas Paulo desceu, inclinou-se sobre ele e, abraçando-o, disse: — Não fiquem alvoroçados, pois ele está vivo.
11 Then he went upstairs again, broke bread and took some food, and after talking with them a long time, even until daybreak, he left them.
11 Subindo de novo, Paulo partiu o pão e comeu. E lhes falou ainda muito tempo até o amanhecer. E, assim, partiu.
12 They had taken the lad home alive, and were not a little comforted.
12 Então conduziram vivo o rapaz e sentiram-se grandemente confortados.
13 The rest of us going before to the ship, set sail for Assos, intending to take Paul on board there; for so he had appointed, because he intended to go by land.
13 Nós, porém, prosseguindo, embarcamos e navegamos para Assôs, onde devíamos receber Paulo, porque assim nos havia sido determinado, devendo ele ir por terra.
14 And when he met us at Assos, we took him in, and came to Mitylene.
14 Quando se reuniu conosco em Assôs, nós o recebemos a bordo e fomos a Mitilene.
15 We sailed from thence, and arrived next day off Chios; and the day after we touched at Samos; and the following day we came to Mitylene.
15 Dali, navegando, no dia seguinte passamos diante de Quios. Levamos mais um dia até Samos e, um dia depois, chegamos a Mileto.
16 For Paul had determined to sail past Ephesus, so as not to spend time in Asia, for he was hurrying to get to Jerusalem, if it were possible, by the day of Pentecost.
16 Paulo já tinha resolvido não aportar em Éfeso, pois não queria demorar-se na província da Ásia. Ele tinha pressa, pois queria, caso lhe fosse possível, passar o dia de Pentecostes em Jerusalém.
17 From Miletus he sent to Ephesus for the elders of the church to come to him;
17 De Mileto, Paulo enviou uma mensagem a Éfeso, pedindo aos presbíteros da igreja que se encontrassem com ele.
18 and when they arrived, he said to them. "You yourselves know quite well, how I lived among you, from the first day that I set foot in Asia,
18 E, quando chegaram, Paulo lhes disse: — Vocês sabem como me conduzi entre vocês em todo o tempo, desde o primeiro dia em que entrei na província da Ásia,
19 "serving the Lord with all lowliness of mind, and with tears, and amid trials that befell me through the plots of the Jews.
19 servindo o Senhor com toda a humildade, com lágrimas e com as provações que me sobrevieram pelas ciladas dos judeus.
20 "You know that I never shrank from declaring to you anything that was profitable, nor from teaching you publicity and in your homes,
20 Vocês sabem que jamais deixei de anunciar o que fosse proveitoso e de ensinar isso a vocês publicamente e também de casa em casa,
21 testifying both to Jews and Greeks repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.
21 testemunhando tanto a judeus como a gregos o arrependimento para com Deus e a fé em nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo.
22 And now I am going to Jerusalem, bound in the Spirit, not knowing what will befall me there,
22 E, agora, impelido pelo Espírito, vou para Jerusalém, não sabendo o que ali vai me acontecer,
23 except that in city after city the Holy Spirit is warning me that bonds and afflictions are awaiting me.
23 exceto que o Espírito Santo, de cidade em cidade, me assegura que prisões e sofrimentos estão à minha espera.
24 But I hold not my life of any account, as dear unto myself, if only I may run my race, and accomplish the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to attest the gospel of the grace of God.
24 Porém em nada considero a vida preciosa para mim mesmo, desde que eu complete a minha carreira e o ministério que recebi do Senhor Jesus para testemunhar o evangelho da graça de Deus.
25 And now I know that not one of you among whom I went about preaching the kingdom, will ever see my face again.
25 — E agora eu sei que todos vocês, em cujo meio passei pregando o Reino, não mais verão o meu rosto.
26 So I testify to you this day that I am clear from the blood of all men;
26 Portanto, no dia de hoje testifico diante de vocês que estou limpo do sangue de todos,
27 I never shrank from telling you the whole counsel of God.
27 porque jamais deixei de lhes anunciar todo o plano de Deus.
28 Take heed to yourselves and to all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has appointed you overseers, and be shepherds of the church of God which he has purchased with his own blood.
28 Cuidem de vocês mesmos e de todo o rebanho no qual o Espírito Santo os colocou como bispos, para pastorearem a igreja de Deus, a qual ele comprou com o seu próprio sangue.
29 I know that after my departure fierce wolves will come among you, and they will not spare the flock;
29 Eu sei que, depois da minha partida, aparecerão no meio de vocês lobos vorazes, que não pouparão o rebanho.
30 and that from among your own number, men will arise, perverting the truth, to draw away the disciples after them.
30 E que até mesmo entre vocês se levantarão homens falando coisas pervertidas para arrastar os discípulos atrás de si.
31 So be on guard; and remember that for three years I ceased not to admonish you all, night and day, even with tears.
31 Portanto, vigiem, lembrando que, durante três anos, noite e dia, não cessei de admoestar, com lágrimas, cada um de vocês.
32 "And now I commend you to God and to the word of his grace. He is able to build you up, and to give you your inheritance among all those who are consecrated.
32 — Agora, pois, eu os entrego aos cuidados de Deus e à palavra da sua graça, que tem poder para edificá-los e dar herança entre todos os que são santificados.
33 "No mans silver or gold of clothing did I ever covet.
33 De ninguém cobicei prata, nem ouro, nem roupas;
34 "You yourselves know how these hands of mine provided for my needs, and those of my companions.
34 vocês mesmos sabem que estas minhas mãos serviram para o que era necessário a mim e aos que estavam comigo.
35 "In all things I have set you an example, how that so toiling, you ought to help the weak and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, "It is more blessed to give than to receive."
35 Em tudo tenho mostrado a vocês que, trabalhando assim, é preciso socorrer os necessitados e lembrar das palavras do próprio Senhor Jesus: “Mais bem-aventurado é dar do que receber.”
36 When he had so said, Paul kneeled down, and prayed with them.
36 Tendo dito isso, ajoelhando-se, Paulo orou com todos eles.
37 And they all began, with loud lamentations, to throw their arms about his neck, and to kiss him lovingly, again and again,
37 Então houve grande pranto entre todos, e, abraçando Paulo, o beijavam,
38 sorrowing most of all for the words that he had spoken, that after that day they should look upon his face no more. And they began to escort him to the ship.
38 entristecidos especialmente pela palavra que ele tinha dito: que não mais veriam o seu rosto. E eles o acompanharam até o navio.
