1 But Job answered and said,
1 Então Jó respondeu:
2 How have you helped [the] powerless, [or] saved [the] arm that has no strength?
2 “Como você sabe ajudar o que não tem força! Como você sabe socorrer o braço que não tem vigor!
3 How have you advised [those] not wise, or fully declared wise plans?
3 Como você sabe aconselhar o que não tem sabedoria e revelar plenitude de verdadeiro conhecimento!
4 To whom have you spoken words? And whose spirit came from you?
4 Com a ajuda de quem você profere tais palavras? E de quem é o espírito que fala em você?”
5 The departed spirits tremble under the waters, and those who dwell in them.
5 “Os mortos tremem debaixo das águas com os seus moradores.
6 Hell [is] naked before Him, and the Pit has no covering.
6 O mundo dos mortos está desnudo diante de Deus, e não há coberta para o abismo.
7 He stretches out the north over the empty place, [and] He hung the earth on nothing.
7 Ele estende o norte sobre o vazio e faz a terra pairar sobre o nada.
8 He binds up [the] waters in His thick clouds; and the cloud is not torn under them.
8 Prende as águas em densas nuvens, e as nuvens não se rasgam debaixo delas.
9 He covers the face of [His] throne, spreading His cloud on it.
9 Encobre a face do seu trono e sobre ele estende a sua nuvem.
10 He has described a circle on the surface of the waters to the boundary of light with darkness.
10 Traçou um círculo sobre a superfície das águas, no limite entre a luz e as trevas.
11 The pillars of the heavens tremble and are astonished at His rebuke.
11 As colunas do céu tremem e se espantam diante da sua ameaça.
12 He quiets the sea with His power, and by His understanding He shatters the proud.
12 Com a sua força dominou o mar e com o seu entendimento despedaçou o monstro Raabe.
13 By His Spirit the heavens [were] beautiful; His hand pierced the fleeing serpent.
13 Pelo seu sopro o céu se aclarou, a sua mão feriu a serpente veloz.
14 Lo, these [are] the edges of His ways; but what a whisper of a word we hear of Him! And the thunder of His power who can understand?
14 Eis que isto são apenas as bordas dos seus caminhos! Dele temos ouvido apenas um leve sussurro! Mas o trovão do seu poder, quem o entenderá?”
