Amós 4

1 Hear this word, cows of Bashan who [are] in the mountain of Samaria; who press down the poor, who crush the needy, who say to their masters, Bring in, that we may drink.
1 — Ouçam isto, mulheres da cidade de Samaria, que estão satisfeitas e gordas como as vacas de Basã! Vocês maltratam os necessitados, exploram os pobres e ficam sempre pedindo aos maridos que lhes tragam mais vinho para beber.
2 The Lord Jehovah has sworn by His holiness that the days shall come on you that He will lift you up with meat hooks, and your sons with fishhooks.
2 Eu, o Senhor , juro pelo meu santo nome que virá o tempo em que vocês serão arrastadas para fora da cidade com anzóis, como se fossem peixes; nenhuma de vocês escapará.
3 And you shall go out at the breaches, each woman straight before her. And you shall cast down the high place, says the LORD.
3 Vocês sairão em fila pelas brechas das muralhas e serão jogadas na direção do monte Hermom.
4 Come to Bethel and transgress; to Gilgal and multiply transgressing [at] Gilgal. And bring your sacrifices for the morning, your tithes for three years;
4 O Senhor Deus diz: — Povo de Israel, vocês querem pecar? Pois vão aos santuários de Betel e de Gilgal e ali pequem à vontade! Todas as manhãs ofereçam
5 and offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving from that [which is] leavened, and cry out; call out the voluntary offerings! For so you love [to do], O sons of Israel, says the Lord Jehovah.
5 Apresentem os pães da oferta de gratidão a Deus e depois saiam para contar a todo mundo que fizeram ofertas de livre e espontânea vontade. E como vocês gostam de fazer isso!
6 And I also have given you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, and lack of bread in all your places, and you have not returned to Me, says the LORD.
6 — Eu fiz com que faltasse comida em todas as cidades e que todos passassem fome, mas assim mesmo vocês não voltaram para mim.
7 And I have also withheld the rain from you, when [there were] yet three months to the harvest. And I caused rain to fall on one city and caused it not to rain on another city; one piece was rained on, and the piece on which it did not rain dried up.
7 Não deixei que chovesse durante três meses antes das colheitas. Fiz com que caísse chuva numa cidade, mas, em outra, não; choveu numa plantação, mas, em outra, não, e nesta tudo secou.
8 So two [or] three cities wandered to one city to drink water, but they were not satisfied; yet you have not returned to Me, says the LORD.
8 As pessoas iam de cidade em cidade procurando água, mas não achavam o bastante nem para matar a sede. Assim mesmo vocês não voltaram para mim. Sou eu, o Senhor , quem está falando.
9 I have stricken you with blasting and mildew. When your gardens and your vineyards, and your fig trees. and your olive trees increased, the creeping locust devoured them; yet you have not returned to Me, says the LORD.
9 — Eu os castiguei com ventos muito quentes e com pragas nas plantas; os gafanhotos acabaram com as hortas, com as parreiras , com as figueiras e com as oliveiras. Assim mesmo vocês não voltaram para mim.
10 I have sent the plague among you in the way of Egypt; I have slain your young men with the sword, and have taken away your horses. And I have made the stench of your camps to come up into your nostrils; yet you have not returned to Me, says the LORD.
10 Fiz cair sobre vocês uma praga como as que mandei contra o Egito. Fiz com que os moços morressem nos campos de batalha e deixei que os inimigos levassem embora os cavalos de guerra. Fiz com que o mau cheiro dos corpos que estavam apodrecendo se espalhasse pelo acampamento. Assim mesmo vocês não voltaram para mim. Sou eu, o Senhor , quem está falando.
11 I have overthrown some among you, as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and you were like a firebrand plucked out of the burning; yet you have not returned to Me, says the LORD.
11 — Eu destruí cidades, como fiz com Sodoma e com Gomorra; vocês escaparam como se fossem um galho que no último momento é tirado do fogo. Assim mesmo vocês não voltaram para mim.
12 So I will do this to you, O Israel; because I will do this to you, prepare to meet your God, O Israel.
12 Por isso, povo de Israel, eu os castigarei. E, já que vou castigá-los, preparem-se para se encontrar com o seu Deus. Eu, o Senhor , falei.
13 For lo, He forms the mountains and creates the wind, and declares to man what his thought [is]. He who makes the morning darkness, and treads on the high places of the earth; the LORD, the God of hosts, [is] His name.
13 Foi Deus quem fez as montanhas e criou o vento. Ele revela os seus planos aos seres humanos. Ele faz o dia virar noite e anda por cima das montanhas. Este é o seu nome: o
