1 But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you; who will privately introduce destructive sects, denying even the Lord who bought them, bringing on themselves swift destruction.
1 Assim como surgiram falsos profetas no meio do povo, também haverá falsos mestres entre vocês. Eles introduzirão heresias destruidoras, chegando a renegar o Soberano Senhor que os resgatou, trazendo sobre si mesmos repentina destruição.
2 And many will follow their lewd practices, on account of whom, they way of truth will be evil spoken of.
2 E muitos seguirão as suas práticas libertinas, e, por causa deles, o caminho da verdade será difamado.
3 And through covetousness, they will make merchandise of you, by fictitious tales: to whom the punishment threatened of old lingers not, and their destruction slumbers not.
3 Movidos por avareza, eles explorarão vocês com palavras fictícias. Mas, para eles, a condenação decretada há muito tempo não tarda, e a destruição deles não caiu no esquecimento.
4 For God, indeed, did not spare the angels who sinned, but with chains of darkness confining them in Tartarus, delivered them over to be kept for judgment;
4 Pois Deus não poupou anjos quando pecaram, mas, lançando-os no inferno, prendeu-os com correntes de escuridão, reservando-os para o juízo.
5 and did not spare the old world, but saved Noah, the eighth, a proclaimer of righteousness, when he brought the flood upon the world of the ungodly;
5 E ele não poupou o mundo antigo, mas preservou Noé, pregador da justiça, e mais sete pessoas, quando fez vir o dilúvio sobre o mundo de ímpios.
6 and having reduced to ashes the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, punished them with an overthrow, making them an example to those who should afterward live ungodly:
6 E, reduzindo a cinzas as cidades de Sodoma e Gomorra, condenou-as à ruína completa, tendo-as posto como exemplo do que viria a acontecer com os que vivessem impiamente;
7 and rescued righteous Lot, exceedingly grieved by the lewd behavior of the lawless:
7 mas livrou o justo Ló, que ficava aflito com a conduta libertina daqueles insubordinados.
8 (for; -that righteous man, dwelling among them, by the sight and report of their unlawful deeds, tormented his righteous soul from day to day;)
8 Porque esse homem justo, pelo que via e ouvia ao morar entre eles, atormentava a sua alma justa, dia após dia, por causa das obras iníquas que aqueles praticavam.
9 the Lord knows how to rescue the godly out of temptation, and to reserve the unrighteous to a day of judgment to be punished;
9 Assim, o Senhor sabe livrar da provação os piedosos e manter os injustos sob castigo, para o Dia do Juízo,
10 but especially those who go after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and who despise government: being audacious, self-willed, who fear not to revile dignitaries;
10 especialmente aqueles que, seguindo a carne, andam em desejos impuros e desprezam qualquer autoridade. Atrevidos, arrogantes, não temem difamar os gloriosos seres celestiais,
11 whereas, angels, who are greater in strength and power, do not bring a reviling accusation against them before the Lord.
11 ao passo que anjos, embora maiores em força e poder, não proferem contra essas autoridades sentença difamatória na presença do Senhor.
12 But these, as natural, irrational animals, made for capture and destruction, speaking evil of matters which they do not understand, shall be utterly destroyed by their own corruptions;
12 Esses, porém, como animais irracionais, seres guiados pelo instinto e que nascem para serem capturados e mortos, falando mal daquilo que não entendem, na sua destruição também hão de ser destruídos,
13 receiving the due reward of unrighteousness. These delight to spend the day in luxurious festivity: they are spots and blemishes, reveling in their deceits when they feast with you;
13 recebendo injustiça como pagamento pela injustiça que praticam. Encontram prazer na satisfação de seus desejos libertinos em pleno dia. Como manchas e defeitos, encontram satisfação nas suas próprias mentiras, enquanto se banqueteiam com vocês.
14 having eyes full of the adulteress, incessantly sinning, alluring unstable souls; having a heart exercised with insatiable desires; an accursed progeny:
14 Eles têm os olhos cheios de adultério e são insaciáveis no pecado. Enganam almas inconstantes e têm o coração exercitado na avareza, essa gente maldita.
15 having forsaken the right path, they have wandered, following in the way of Balaam, the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of iniquity,
15 Tendo abandonado o reto caminho, desviaram-se e seguiram pelo caminho de Balaão, filho de Beor, que amou o pagamento pela injustiça.
16 and was convicted of his transgression; the dumb brute, speaking with man's voice, reprimanded the madness of the prophet.
16 Mas ele foi repreendido pela sua transgressão: um animal de carga mudo, falando com voz humana, refreou a insensatez do profeta.
17 These are wells without water, clouds driven by a tempest; for whom the blackness of darkness is reserved forever:
17 Esses tais são fontes sem água, névoas levadas pela tempestade, para os quais está reservada a mais profunda escuridão.
18 for, speaking great swelling words of falsehood, they allure by the lusts of the flesh, even by lasciviousness, those who have actually fled away from them who are living in error.
18 Porque, falando com arrogância palavras sem conteúdo, enganam com desejos libertinos de natureza carnal aqueles que de fato estavam se afastando dos que vivem no erro.
19 They promise them liberty, whilst they themselves are slaves of corruption: for every one is enslaved by that which overcomes him.
19 Prometem-lhes a liberdade, quando eles mesmos são escravos da corrupção, pois aquele que é vencido fica escravo do vencedor.
20 Now, if, having fled away from the pollutions of the world, through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and being again entangled, they are overcome by them; their last condition is worse than the first.
20 Portanto, se, depois de terem escapado das contaminações do mundo mediante o conhecimento do Senhor e Salvador Jesus Cristo, se deixam enredar de novo e são vencidos, o seu último estado se tornou pior do que o primeiro.
21 Therefore, it has been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, turn away from the holy commandment delivered to them.
21 Pois teria sido melhor que eles nunca tivessem conhecido o caminho da justiça do que, após conhecê-lo, voltar atrás e se afastar do santo mandamento que lhes havia sido dado.
22 «But the saying of the true proverb has happened to them:» 'The dog is returned to his own vomit; and the washed hog, to its wallowing in the mire.'
22 Com eles aconteceu o que diz certo provérbio muito verdadeiro: “O cão volta ao seu próprio vômito.” E: “A porca lavada volta a rolar na lama.”
