1 By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat, and we also wept when we remembered Zion.
1 Às margens dos rios da Babilônia, nós nos assentávamos e chorávamos, lembrando-nos de Sião.
2 Upon the willows in her midst had we hung up our harps.
2 Nos salgueiros que lá havia, pendurávamos as nossas harpas,
3 For there our captors demanded of us the words of song; and those that mocked us, joy, saying, Sing for us one of the songs of Zion.
3 pois aqueles que nos levaram cativos nos pediam canções, e os nossos opressores queriam que fôssemos alegres, dizendo: “Cantem para nós um dos cânticos de Sião.”
4 How should we sing the song of the Lord on the soil of the stranger?
4 Mas como poderíamos entoar um cântico ao em terra estranha?
5 If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, may my right hand forget.
5 Se eu me esquecer de você, ó Jerusalém, que a minha mão direita se resseque.
6 May my tongue cleave to my palate if I do not remember thee: if I recall not Jerusalem at the head of my joy.
6 Que a minha língua fique colada ao céu da boca, se eu não me lembrar de você, se eu não preferir Jerusalém à minha maior alegria.
7 Remember, O Lord, unto the children of Edom the day of Jerusalem; who said, Raze it, raze it, even to her very foundation.
7 Contra os filhos de Edom, lembra-te, do dia em que Jerusalém foi tomada, pois diziam: “Arrasem! Arrasem Jerusalém até os seus alicerces!”
8 O daughter of Babylon, who art wasted: happy he, that repayeth thee thy recompense for what thou hast done to us.
8 Filha da Babilônia, você que será destruída, feliz aquele que lhe retribuir o mal que você nos fez.
9 Happy he, that seizeth and dasheth thy babes against the rock.
9 Feliz aquele que pegar os seus filhos e esmagá-los contra a pedra.
