1 Rejoice not, O Israel, for gladness, as other people; for thou art gone astray, unfaithful to thy God: thou hast loved the wages of sin upon every cornfilled threshingfloor.
1 Ó povo de Israel, não se alegre como as outras nações. Pois vocês foram infiéis a seu Deus e se venderam como prostituta ao adorar outros deuses em toda eira de cereal.
2 The threshingfloor and the winepress shall not feed them, and the new wine shall deceive them.
2 Agora, suas colheitas não bastarão para alimentá-los; não haverá uvas para fazer vinho novo.
3 They shall not dwell in the land of the Lord; but Ephraim shall return to Egypt, and in Assyria will they eat unclean things.
3 Vocês não permanecerão na terra do S enhor ; em vez disso, voltarão para o Egito e, na Assíria, comerão alimentos impuros.
4 They shall not pour out wine to the Lord, and their offerings shall not be pleasing unto him; their sacrifices shall be unto them as the bread of mourners; all that eat thereof shall be polluted: for this their food can only be for themselves, it shall not come into the house of the Lord.
4 Ali não apresentarão ofertas de vinho ao S enhor ; seus sacrifícios não o agradarão. Serão impuros, como o alimento tocado por uma pessoa de luto; todos que apresentarem esses sacrifícios se contaminarão. Eles próprios comerão o alimento, mas não poderão oferecê-lo ao S
5 What will ye do on the day of the appointed festival, and on the day of the feast of the Lord?
5 O que oferecerão nos feriados sagrados? Como celebrarão as festas do S
6 For, lo, they are gone forth because of the desolation: Egypt will gather them up, Moph will bury them: the pleasant chambers for their silver,these shall nettles take possession of; thorns shall grow in their tents.
6 Mesmo que escapem da destruição nas mãos da Assíria, o Egito os conquistará, e Mênfis A urtiga cobrirá seus tesouros de prata, e espinhos invadirão as ruínas de suas casas.
7 Come are the days of the visitation, come are the days of thy recompense; this shall Israel experience: a fool was the prophet, mad the inspired man, because of the greatness of thy iniquity, and the great hatefulness.
7 Chegou o tempo do castigo de Israel, o dia do acerto de contas; sim, Israel se dará conta disso. Por causa de seu grande pecado e sua hostilidade, vocês dizem: “Os profetas enlouqueceram, e os homens inspirados não passam de tolos!”.
8 The watchman of Ephraim with my God, the prophet, was a snare of the fowler on all his ways, a hateful thing in the house of his god.
8 O profeta é um vigia sobre Israel para meu Deus, mas, por onde vai, encontra armadilhas; até no templo de Deus enfrenta hostilidade.
9 They are deeply corrupt, as in the days of Gibah: he will remember their iniquity, he will visit their sins.
9 Meu povo faz coisas depravadas como em Gibeá, muito tempo atrás. Deus não esquecerá; certamente os castigará por seus pecados.
10 Like grapes in the wilderness had I found Israel; as the first ripe fruit on the figtree in the first of the season had I seen your fathers; but they too went to Baalpeor: and devoted themselves unto that shameful idol, and became abominations as those they loved.
10 “Quando encontrei você, Israel, foi como encontrar uvas no deserto. Quando vi seus antepassados, foi como ver os primeiros figos maduros. Mas eles me abandonaram por causa de Baal-Peor e se entregaram à vergonhosa idolatria. Logo se tornaram tão repugnantes quanto o ídolo que adoravam.
11 As for Ephraim, their glory shall fly away like a bird: there is no more birth, and no pregnancy, and no conception.
11 A glória de Israel fugirá como uma ave, pois não lhes nascerão filhos; não crescerão no ventre, nem sequer serão concebidos.
12 But though they were to bring up their children, yet would I bereave them, that there should be no man: yea, woe also to themselves, when I depart from them!
12 Ainda que alguns de seus filhos cheguem a crescer, eu os tomarei de vocês. Será um dia terrível quando eu me afastar e os deixar sozinhos.
13 Ephraim, as I have seen him like Tyre, planted in a pleasant meadow,yet this Ephraim shall lead forth to the murderer his children.
13 Vi Israel se tornar bela como Tiro; agora, porém, entregará seus filhos para o massacre.”
14 Give them, O Lord, what thou wilt give! give them a miscarrying womb and driedup breasts.
14 Ó S enhor , o que devo pedir para teu povo? Pedirei ventres que não deem à luz e seios que não deem leite.
15 All their wickedness is in Gilgal; for there I learnt to hate them; for the wickedness of their doings will I drive them out of my house: I will love them no farther; all their princes are rebels.
15 “Toda a perversidade deles começou em Gilgal; ali comecei a odiá-los. Eu os expulsarei de minha terra por causa de suas maldades. Não os amarei mais, porque todos os seus líderes são rebeldes.
16 Smitten is Ephraim, their root is dried up, they shall bear no fruit; yea, though they should bring forth, yet would I slay the beloved fruit of their body.
16 O povo de Israel está ferido; suas raízes secaram, e eles não darão mais frutos. E, se derem à luz, eu matarei seus filhos queridos.”
17 My God will reject them, because they did not hearken unto him: and they shall be wanderers among the nations.
17 Meu Deus rejeitará os israelitas, pois não lhe obedecem. Andarão sem rumo, errantes entre as nações.
