1 Do but hear now what the Lord saith, Arise, contend thou before the mountains, and let the hills hear thy voice.
1 Ouvi, agora, o que diz o Senhor : Levanta-te, contende com os montes, e ouçam os outeiros a tua voz.
2 Hear ye, O mountains, the controversy of the Lord, and ye strong foundations of the earth! for the Lord hath a controversy with his people, and with Israel will he plead.
2 Ouvi, montes, a contenda do Senhor , e vós, fortes fundamentos da terra; porque o Senhor tem uma contenda com o seu povo e com Israel entrará em juízo.
3 O my people, what have I done unto thee? and wherewith have I wearied thee? testify against me.
3 Ó povo meu! Que te tenho feito? E em que te enfadei? Testifica contra mim.
4 Although I had brought thee up out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed thee out of the house of bondmen; and I sent before thee Moses, Aaron, and Miriam.
4 Certamente, te fiz subir da terra do Egito e da casa da servidão te remi; e pus diante de ti a Moisés, Arão e Miriã.
5 O my people, do but remember what Balak the king of Moab resolved, and what Bilam the son of Beor answered him, from Shittim unto Gilgal, in order that ye may know the gracious benefits of the Lord.
5 Povo meu, ora, lembra-te da consulta de Balaque, rei de Moabe, e do que lhe respondeu Balaão, filho de Beor, desde Sitim até Gilgal; para que conheças as justiças do Senhor .
6 Wherewith shall I come before the Lord, bow myself before the God on high? shall I come before him with burntofferings, with calves of a year old!
6 Com que me apresentarei ao Senhor e me inclinarei ante o Deus Altíssimo? Virei perante ele com holocaustos, com bezerros de um ano?
7 Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, or with myriads of streams of oil? shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?
7 Agradar-se-á o Senhor de milhares de carneiros? De dez mil ribeiros de azeite? Darei o meu primogênito pela minha transgressão? O fruto do meu ventre, pelo pecado da minha alma?
8 He hath told thee, O man, what is good; and what the Lord doth require of thee: nothing but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with thy God.
8 Ele te declarou, ó homem, o que é bom; e que é o que o Senhor pede de ti, senão que pratiques a justiça, e ames a beneficência, e andes humildemente com o teu Deus?
9 The voice of the Lord calleth unto the city,and the man of wisdom shall see thy name:hear ye the rod of punishment, and who hath ordained it.
9 A voz do Senhor clama à cidade, e o sábio verá o teu nome: Ouvi a vara e quem a ordenou.
10 Are there yet in the house of the wicked man the treasures of wickedness, and the scant accursed measure?
10 Ainda há na casa do ímpio tesouros de impiedade? E efa pequeno, que é detestável?
11 Can I be pure with wicked balances, and with a bag full of deceptive weights?
11 Seria eu limpo com balanças falsas? E com um saco de pesos enganosos?
12 For her rich men are full of violence, and her inhabitants have spoken falsehood, and their tongue is deceit itself in their mouth.
12 Porque os seus ricos estão cheios de violência, e os seus habitantes falam mentiras; e a sua língua é enganosa na sua boca.
13 Therefore have I also smitten thee with sore wounds, making thee desolate because of thy sins.
13 Assim, eu também te enfraquecerei, ferindo-te e assolando- te por causa dos teus pecados.
14 Thou wilt indeed eat, but not be satisfied; and what thou hast eaten shall bend thee down; and thou wilt overtake the enemy, but thou shalt not deliver; and that which thou deliverest will I give up to the sword.
14 Tu comerás, mas não te fartarás; e a tua humilhação estará no meio de ti; removerás, mas não livrarás; e aquilo que livrares, eu o entregarei à espada.
15 Thou wilt indeed sow, but thou shalt not reap; thou wilt indeed tread out olives, but thou shalt not anoint thyself with oil; and the juice of the grapes, but thou shalt not drink wine.
15 Tu semearás, mas não segarás; pisarás a azeitona, mas não te ungirás com azeite; e o mosto, mas não beberás vinho.
16 For there are observed the statutes of Omri, and all the works of the house of Achab, and ye walk in their counsels: in order that I should give thee up unto desolation, and thy inhabitants to derision; and ye shall bear the reproach of my people.
16 Porque se observam os estatutos de Onri e toda a obra da casa de Acabe, e vós andais nos conselhos deles; para que eu faça de ti uma desolação e dos seus habitantes um assobio; assim, trareis sobre vós o opróbrio do meu povo.
