Jeremias 5
Leeser Old Testament (LEESER) vs ARC
1 Roam about through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and notice, and search in its broad places, if ye can find one man, if there be one that executeth justice, that searcheth for truth: and I will pardon it.
1 Dai voltas às ruas de Jerusalém, e vede agora, e informai-vos, e buscai pelas suas praças, a ver se achais alguém ou se há um homem que pratique a justiça ou busque a verdade; e eu lhe perdoarei.
2 And though they say, "As the Lord liveth!" surely they only swear to a falsehood.
2 E ainda que digam: Vive o Senhor , decerto falsamente juram.
3 O Lord, are not thy eyes directed to the truth? thou didst strike them, but they felt it not; thou didst make an end of them, yet they refused to accept correction: they made their faces harder than a rock, they refused to return.
3 Ah! Senhor , não atentam os teus olhos para a verdade? Feriste-os, e não lhes doeu; consumiste-os, e não quiseram receber a correção; endureceram as suas faces mais do que uma rocha; não quiseram voltar.
4 Yet I myself thought, Oh these are but poor; they are foolish; for they knew not the way of the Lord, the ordinance of their God.
4 Eu, porém, disse: Deveras, estes são uns pobres; são loucos, pois não sabem o caminho do Senhor , o juízo do seu Deus.
5 I had better go unto the great men, and let me speak with them; for these surely know the way of the Lord, the ordinance of their God; but these altogether have broken the yoke, burst the bands.
5 Irei aos grandes e falarei com eles, porque eles sabem o caminho do Senhor , o juízo do seu Deus; mas estes, de comum acordo, quebraram o jugo e romperam as ataduras.
6 Therefore slayeth them the lion out of the forest, the wolf of the deserts wasteth them, the leopard lieth in wait against their cities: every one that cometh out thence shall be torn in pieces; because many are their transgressions, very numerous are their backslidings.
6 Por isso, um leão do bosque os feriu, um lobo dos desertos os assolará, um leopardo vigia contra as suas cidades; qualquer que sair delas será despedaçado; porque as suas transgressões se multiplicaram, multiplicaram-se as suas apostasias.
7 How shall I for this pardon thee? thy children have forsaken me, and sworn by those that are not gods: when I had fed them to the full, they then committed adultery, and assembled themselves by troops in the harlots house.
7 Como, vendo isso, te perdoaria? Teus filhos me deixam a mim e juram pelos que não são deuses; depois de os eu ter fartado, adulteraram e em casa de meretrizes se ajuntaram em bandos;
8 As robust horses they rose by times in the morning: every one neighed after the wife of his neighbor.
8 como cavalos bem fartos, levantam-se pela manhã, rinchando cada um à mulher do seu companheiro.
9 Shall I not for these things inflict punishment? saith the Lord: and shall on a nation such as this my soul not be avenged?
9 Deixaria eu de castigar estas coisas, diz o Senhor , ou não se vingaria a minha alma de uma nação como esta?
10 Scale ye her walls, and destroy; but make not a full end: remove her young shoots; for they are not the Lords.
10 Subi aos seus muros e destruí-os (não façais, porém, uma destruição final); tirai as suas ameias, porque não são do Senhor .
11 For the house of Israel and the house of Judah have dealt very treacherously against me, saith the Lord.
11 Porque aleivosissimamente se houveram contra mim a casa de Israel e a casa de Judá, diz o Senhor .
12 They have denied the Lord, and said, "He existeth not; nor will evil come over us; and the sword and famine shall we not see.
12 Negam ao Senhor e dizem: Não é ele; e: Nenhum mal nos sobrevirá; não veremos espada nem fome.
13 And the prophets shall become wind, and the word is not in them:" thus shall it be done unto them.
13 E até os profetas se farão como vento, porque a palavra não está com eles; assim lhes sucederá a eles mesmos.
14 Therefore thus hath said the Lord the God of hosts, Because ye speak this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth to be a fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them.
14 Portanto, assim diz o Senhor , o Deus dos Exércitos: Porquanto disseste tal palavra, eis que converterei as minhas palavras na tua boca em fogo, e a este povo, em lenha, e eles serão consumidos.
15 Lo, I will bring over you a nation from afar, O house of Israel, saith the Lord: it is a mighty nation, it is a most ancient nation, a nation whose language thou wilt not know, and thou wilt not understand what they speak.
15 Eis que trarei sobre vós uma nação de longe, ó casa de Israel, diz o Senhor , uma nação robusta, uma nação antiquíssima, uma nação cuja língua ignorarás; e não entenderás o que ela falar.
16 Their quiver is as an open sepulchre: they are all mighty men.
16 A sua aljava é como uma sepultura aberta; todos eles são valentes.
17 And they shall consume thy harvest, and thy bread; they shall consume thy sons and thy daughters; they shall consume thy flocks and thy herds; they shall consume thy vines and thy figtrees; they shall depopulate thy fortified cities, those wherein thou trustedst, with the sword.
17 E comerão a tua sega e o teu pão, que haviam de comer teus filhos e tuas filhas; comerão as tuas ovelhas e as tuas vacas; comerão a tua vide e a tua figueira; as tuas cidades fortes, em que confiavas, abatê-las-ão à espada.
18 Nevertheless even in those days, saith the Lord, will I not make a full end of you.
18 Contudo, ainda naqueles dias, diz o Senhor , não farei de vós uma destruição final.
19 And it shall come to pass, when ye will say, For what reason hath the Lord our God done all these things unto us? that thou shalt say unto them, In the same manner as ye have forsaken me, and served strange gods in your land, so shall ye serve strangers in a land that is not yours.
19 E sucederá que, quando disserem: Por que nos fez o Senhor , nosso Deus, todas estas coisas? Então, lhes dirás: Como vós me deixastes e servistes a deuses estranhos na vossa terra, assim servireis a estrangeiros, em terra que não é vossa.
20 Announce this in the house of Jacob, and publish it in Judah, saying,
20 Anunciai isto na casa de Jacó e fazei-o ouvir em Judá, dizendo:
21 Do now hear this, O sottish people, who have no heart; who have eyes, and see not; who have ears, and hear not;
21 Ouvi, agora, isto, ó povo louco e sem coração, que tendes olhos e não vedes, que tendes ouvidos e não ouvis.
22 Will ye not fear me? saith the Lord; will ye not tremble at my presence, who have placed the sand as a bound for the sea by an everlasting law, which it can never pass over? and though the waves thereof be upheaved, yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet can they not pass over it.
22 Não me temereis a mim? — diz o Senhor ; não temereis diante de mim, que pus a areia por limite ao mar, por ordenança eterna, que ele não traspassará? Ainda que se levantem as suas ondas, não prevalecerão; ainda que bramem, não a traspassarão.
23 But this people hath a stubborn and a rebellious heart: they have departed from the right and have gone their way.
23 Mas este povo é de coração rebelde e pertinaz; rebelaram-se e foram-se.
24 And they have not said in their heart, Let us now fear the Lord our God, that giveth rain, the early and the latter rain, in its season: the appointed weeks of the harvest doth he ever preserve for us.
24 E não dizem no seu coração: Temamos, agora, ao Senhor , nosso Deus, que dá chuva, a temporã e a tardia, a seu tempo; e as semanas determinadas da sega nos conserva.
25 Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden what is good from you.
25 As vossas iniquidades desviam estas coisas, e os vossos pecados afastam de vós o bem.
26 For there are found among my people wicked men: they lie in wait, as he that layeth snares; they set a trap, they catch men.
26 Porque ímpios se acham entre o meu povo; cada um anda espiando, como se acaçapam os passarinheiros; armam laços perniciosos, com que prendem os homens.
27 As a coop is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit: therefore are they become great, and grown rich.
27 Como uma gaiola cheia de pássaros, são as suas casas cheias de engano; por isso, se engrandeceram e enriqueceram.
28 They are grown fat, they are stout; yea, they surpass even the deeds of the wicked: they pronounce no just sentence, the sentence of the fatherless, that they might prosper; and the cause of the needy do they not judge.
28 Engordam-se, alisam-se e ultrapassam até os feitos dos malignos; não julgam a causa dos órfãos, para que eles prosperem; nem julgam o direito dos necessitados.
29 shall I not for these things inflict punishment? saith the Lord: or shall on a nation such as this my soul not be avenged?
29 Não castigaria eu estas coisas? — diz o Senhor ; não se vingaria a minha alma de uma nação como esta?
30 An astonishing and horrible thing is committed in the land;
30 Coisa espantosa e horrenda se anda fazendo na terra:
31 The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so; but what will ye do in the end thereof?
31 os profetas profetizam falsamente, e os sacerdotes dominam pelas mãos deles, e o meu povo assim o deseja; e que fareis no fim disso?
