1 The word that came unto Jeremiah from the Lord, after Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had dismissed him from Ramah, when he had taken him as he was bound in chains in the midst of all the exiles of Jerusalem and Judah, who were carried away into exile unto Babylon.
1 Palavra que veio a Jeremias da parte do Senhor , depois que Nebuzaradã, o chefe da guarda, o pôs em liberdade em Ramá, estando ele atado com cadeias no meio de todos os do cativeiro de Jerusalém e de Judá, que foram levados cativos para a Babilônia.
2 Then took the captain of the guard Jeremiah, and said unto him, The Lord thy God had spoken this evil over this place;
2 Tomou o chefe da guarda a Jeremias e lhe disse: O Senhor , teu Deus, pronunciou este mal contra este lugar;
3 Now the Lord hath brought it to fulfillment, and hath done according as he had spoken; because ye had sinned against the Lord, and had not hearkened to his voice; and therefore is this thing come upon you.
3 o Senhor o trouxe e fez como tinha dito. Porque pecastes contra o Senhor e não obedecestes à sua voz, tudo isto vos sucedeu.
4 And now, behold, I have freed thee this day from the chains which were upon thy hand. If it seem good in thy eyes to come with me to Babylon, come, and I will direct my eye unto thee; but if it seem ill in thy eyes to come with me to Babylon, forbear: behold, all the land is before thee; whither it seemeth good and proper in thy eyes to go, thither go.
4 Agora, pois, eis que te livrei hoje das cadeias que estavam sobre as tuas mãos. Se te apraz vir comigo para a Babilônia, vem, e eu cuidarei bem de ti; mas, se não te apraz vir comigo para a Babilônia, deixa de vir. Olha, toda a terra está diante de ti; para onde julgares bom e próprio ir, vai para aí.
5 And as he did not yet turn about, he said, Go then back to Gedalyah the son of Achikam the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon hath appointed governor over the cities of Judah, and dwell with him in the midst of the people; or wheresoever it seemeth proper in thy eyes to go, go. And the captain of the guard gave him an allowance and a present, and then dismissed him.
5 Mas, visto que ele tardava em decidir-se, o capitão lhe disse: Volta a Gedalias, filho de Aicão, filho de Safã, a quem o rei da Babilônia nomeou governador das cidades de Judá, e habita com ele no meio do povo; ou, se para qualquer outra parte te aprouver ir, vai. Deu-lhe o chefe da guarda mantimento e um presente e o deixou ir.
6 So did Jeremiah come unto Gedalyah the son of Achikam to Mizpah; and he dwelt with him in the midst of the people that had been left in the land.
6 Assim, foi Jeremias a Gedalias, filho de Aicão, a Mispa; e habitou com ele no meio do povo que havia ficado na terra.
7 Now when all the captains of the armies who were in the field, they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had appointed Gedalyahu the son of Achikam governor over the land, and that he had entrusted unto him men, and women, and children, and these of the poorest of the land, of those that had not been carried away into exile to Babylon:
7 Ouvindo, pois, os capitães dos exércitos que estavam no campo, eles e seus homens, que o rei da Babilônia nomeara governador da terra a Gedalias, filho de Aicão, e que lhe havia confiado os homens, as mulheres, os meninos e os mais pobres da terra que não foram levados ao exílio, para a Babilônia,
8 Then came they to Gedalyah to Mizpah, even Ishmael the son of Nethanyahu, and Jochanan and Jonathan the sons of Kareach, and Serayah the son of Tanchumeth, and the sons of Ephai the Netophathite, and Yezanyahu the son of a Maachathite, they and their men.
8 vieram ter com ele a Mispa, a saber: Ismael, filho de Netanias, Joanã e Jônatas, filhos de Careá, Seraías, filho de Tanumete, os filhos de Efai, o netofatita, Jezanias, filho do maacatita, eles e os seus homens.
9 And Gedalyahu the son of Achikam the son of Shaphan swore unto them and unto their men, saying, Have no fear to serve the Chaldeans: remain in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it will be well with you.
9 Gedalias, filho de Aicão, filho de Safã, jurou a eles e aos seus homens e lhes disse: Nada temais da parte dos caldeus; ficai na terra, servi ao rei da Babilônia, e bem vos irá.
10 As for me, behold, I will dwell at Mizpah, to stand before the Chaldeans, who will come unto us; but ye, gather ye together wine, and summerfruits, and oil, and put them in your vessels, and dwell in your cities of which ye have taken possession.
10 Quanto a mim, eis que habito em Mispa, para estar às ordens dos caldeus que vierem a nós; vós, porém, colhei o vinho, as frutas de verão e o azeite, metei-os nas vossas vasilhas e habitai nas vossas cidades que tomastes.
11 And so likewise all the Jews that were in Moab, and among the children of Ammon, and in Edom, and that were in all the countries, heard that the king of Babylon had left a remnant unto Judah, and that he had appointed over them Gedalyahu the son of Achikam the son of Shaphan;
11 Da mesma sorte, todos os judeus que estavam em Moabe, entre os filhos de Amom e em Edom e os que havia em todas aquelas terras ouviram que o rei da Babilônia havia deixado um resto de Judá e que havia nomeado governador sobre eles a Gedalias, filho de Aicão, filho de Safã;
12 And then did all the Jews return out of all places whither they had been driven, and came to the land of Judah, to Gedalyahu, unto Mizpah, and gathered together wine and summerfruits in very great abundance.
12 então, voltaram todos eles de todos os lugares para onde foram lançados e vieram à terra de Judá, a Gedalias, a Mispa; e colheram vinho e frutas de verão em muita abundância.
13 And Jochanan the son of Kareach, and all the captains of the armies that were in the field, came to Gedalyahu to Mizpah,
13 Joanã, filho de Careá, e todos os príncipes dos exércitos que estavam no campo vieram a Gedalias, a Mispa,
14 And they said unto him, Dost thou at all know that Baalis the king of the children of Ammon hath sent Ishmael the son of Nethanyah to deprive thee of life? But Gedalyahu the son of Achikam believed them not.
14 e lhe disseram: Sabes tu que Baalis, rei dos filhos de Amom, enviou a Ismael, filho de Netanias, para tirar-te a vida? Mas Gedalias, filho de Aicão, não lhes deu crédito.
15 And Jochanan the son of Kareach said to Gedalyahu secretly in Mizpah, as followeth, Let me go, I pray thee, and I will slay Ishmael the son of Nethanyah, and no man shall know of it: wherefore should he deprive thee of life, whereby all the Jews who are gathered unto thee would be scattered, and the remnant of Judah be lost?
15 Todavia, Joanã, filho de Careá, disse a Gedalias em segredo, em Mispa: Irei agora e matarei a Ismael, filho de Netanias, sem que ninguém o saiba; por que razão tiraria ele a tua vida, de maneira que todo o Judá que se tem congregado a ti fosse disperso, e viesse a perecer o resto de Judá?
16 But Gedalyahu the son of Achikam said unto Jochanan the son of Kareach, Thou shalt not do this thing; for thou speakest a falsehood concerning Ishmael.
16 Mas disse Gedalias, filho de Aicão, a Joanã, filho de Careá: Não faças tal coisa, porque isso que falas contra Ismael é falso.
