Leeser Old Testament (LEESER) vs ARA
1 Hear ye the word which the Lord hath spoken concerning you, O house of Israel:
1 Ouvi a palavra que o Senhor vos fala a vós outros, ó casa de Israel.
2 Thus hath said the Lord, Do not habituate yourselves on the way of the nations, and at the signs of the heavens be ye not dismayed; although the nations should be dismayed at them.
2 Assim diz o Senhor : Não aprendais o caminho dos gentios, nem vos espanteis com os sinais dos céus, porque com eles os gentios se atemorizam.
3 For the statutes of these people concern what is vanity; for it is but a tree which a man hath cut out of a forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.
3 Porque os costumes dos povos são vaidade; pois cortam do bosque um madeiro, obra das mãos do artífice, com machado;
4 With silver and with gold do they ornament it; with nails and with hammers do they fasten it, that it move not from its place.
4 com prata e ouro o enfeitam, com pregos e martelos o fixam, para que não oscile.
5 As a wroughtout palmlike column are they, and cannot speak; they must needs be borne, because they cannot step along. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do any harm, so also to do any good is not in them.
5 Os ídolos são como um espantalho em pepinal e não podem falar; necessitam de quem os leve, porquanto não podem andar. Não tenhais receio deles, pois não podem fazer mal, e não está neles o fazer o bem.
6 Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, O Lord: thou alone art great, and great is thy name in might.
6 Ninguém há semelhante a ti, ó Senhor ; tu és grande, e grande é o poder do teu nome.
7 Who would not fear thee, O King of the nations? for to thee doth it appertain; because among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their kingdoms, they say there is none like unto thee.
7 Quem te não temeria a ti, ó Rei das nações? Pois isto é a ti devido; porquanto, entre todos os sábios das nações e em todo o seu reino, ninguém há semelhante a ti.
8 But at once shall they be shown to be brutish and foolish: it is a doctrine of vanities, it concerneth but wood.
8 Mas eles todos se tornaram estúpidos e loucos; seu ensino é vão e morto como um pedaço de madeira.
9 The beaten out silver is brought from Tharshish, and gold from Uphaz, the work of the workman, and of the hands of the goldsmith: blue and purple is their clothing; the work of skilful men are they all.
9 Traz-se prata batida de Társis e ouro de Ufaz; os ídolos são obra de artífice e de mãos de ourives; azuis e púrpuras são as suas vestes; todos eles são obra de homens hábeis.
10 But the Lord God is the truth, he is the living God, and the everlasting king: at his wrath the earth shall quake, and nations cannot endure his indignation.
10 Mas o Senhor é verdadeiramente Deus; ele é o Deus vivo e o Rei eterno; do seu furor treme a terra, e as nações não podem suportar a sua indignação.
11 Thus shall ye say unto them, The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth, shall perish away from the earth, and from under these heavens.
11 Assim lhes direis: Os deuses que não fizeram os céus e a terra desaparecerão da terra e de debaixo destes céus.
12 He made the earth by his power, he established the world by his wisdom, and by his understanding he stretched out the heavens.
12 O Senhor fez a terra pelo seu poder; estabeleceu o mundo por sua sabedoria e com a sua inteligência estendeu os céus.
13 At the sound when he giveth a multitude of waters in the heavens, and causeth clouds to ascend from the ends of the earth; when he maketh lightnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures:
13 Fazendo ele ribombar o trovão, logo há tumulto de águas no céu, e sobem os vapores das extremidades da terra; ele cria os relâmpagos para a chuva e dos seus depósitos faz sair o vento.
14 Then standeth every man as brutish without knowledge; ashamed is every goldsmith because of the graven image; for falsehood is his molten work, and there is no breath therein.
14 Todo homem se tornou estúpido e não tem saber; todo ourives é envergonhado pela imagem que ele mesmo esculpiu; pois as suas imagens são mentira, e nelas não há fôlego.
15 They are vanity, the work of deception; in the time of their punishment shall they vanish.
15 Vaidade são, obra ridícula; no tempo do seu castigo, virão a perecer.
16 Not like these is the portion of Jacob; for he is the former of all things; and Israel is the tribe of his inheritance: The Lord of hosts is his name.
16 Não é semelhante a estas Aquele que é a Porção de Jacó; porque ele é o Criador de todas as coisas, e Israel é a tribo da sua herança; Senhor dos Exércitos é o seu nome.
17 Gather up thy wares from the ground, O inhabitress of the beleaguered city.
17 Tira do chão a tua trouxa, ó filha de Sião, que moras em lugar sitiado.
18 For thus hath said the Lord, Behold, I will cast forth as with a sling the inhabitants of the land at this time, and I will enclose them, in order that they may find them.
18 Porque assim diz o Senhor : Eis que desta vez arrojarei para fora os moradores da terra e os angustiarei, para que venham a senti-lo.
19 Woe is me for my breach! my wound is painful; but I thought, This is but pain, and I shall be able to bear it.
19 Ai de mim, por causa da minha ruína! É mui grave a minha ferida; então, eu disse: com efeito, é isto o meu sofrimento, e tenho de suportá-lo.
20 But now my tent is laid waste, and all my cords are torn asunder; my children are gone away from me, and they are not here; there is no one to stretch forth my tent any more, and to set up my curtains.
20 A minha tenda foi destruída, todas as cordas se romperam; os meus filhos se foram e já não existem; ninguém há que levante a minha tenda e lhe erga as lonas.
21 For the shepherds were brutish, and the Lord had they not sought; therefore have they not prospered, and all their flocks are scattered.
21 Porque os pastores se tornaram estúpidos e não buscaram ao Senhor ; por isso, não prosperaram, e todos os seus rebanhos se acham dispersos.
22 Behold, the noise of the report is come, and a great commotion out of the north country, to render the cities of Judah desolate, a dwelling for monsters.
22 Eis aí um rumor! Eis que vem grande tumulto da terra do Norte, para fazer das cidades de Judá uma assolação, morada de chacais.
23 I know, O Lord, that the way of man is not in his own power: it is not in man that passeth away to direct his own steps.
23 Eu sei, ó Senhor , que não cabe ao homem determinar o seu caminho, nem ao que caminha o dirigir os seus passos.
24 Correct me, O Lord, but with justice; not in thy anger, lest thou bring me to nothing.
24 Castiga-me, ó Senhor , mas em justa medida, não na tua ira, para que não me reduzas a nada.
25 Pour out thy fury over the nations that know thee not, and over the families that have not called on thy name; for they have eaten up Jacob, and devoured him, and consumed him, and have made his dwelling desolate.
25 Derrama a tua indignação sobre as nações que não te conhecem e sobre os povos que não invocam o teu nome; porque devoraram a Jacó, devoraram-no, consumiram-no e assolaram a sua morada.
