1 Blow ye the cornet in Zion, and sound an alarm on my holy mount; let all the inhabitants of the land tremble; for the day of the Lord cometh, for it is nigh;
1 Tocai a trombeta em Sião, e tocai o alarme no meu santo monte; tremam todos os habitantes da terra, porque o dia do SENHOR vem, e está próximo;
2 It is a day of darkness and of gloom, a day of clouds and of tempestuous obscurity, like the morningdawn spread out upon the mountains: a people numerous and strong, the like of which hath never been and after it there will be none any more, even to the years of all coming generations.
2 Um dia de trevas e de escuridão; um dia de nuvens e densas trevas, como a manhã espalhada sobre os montes; um povo grande e forte, como nunca antes se viu nem jamais se verá depois destes, mesmo nos anos de muitas gerações.
3 Before it devoureth a fire; and behind it singeth a flame: like the garden of Eden was the land before it came, and after it is a desolate wilderness; yea, and nothing escapeth from it.
3 Um fogo consome diante deles, e atrás deles uma chama queima; a terra é como o jardim do Éden diante deles, mas atrás deles um desolado deserto; sim, nada lhes escapará.
4 Like the appearance of horses is its appearance; and like horsemen, so do they run.
4 A sua aparência é como a aparência de cavalos; e como cavaleiros assim correm.
5 Like the noise of chariots on the tops of mountains do they leap; they are like the noise of a flame of fire consuming the stubble, as a strong people arrayed for a battle.
5 Como o barulho de carruagens sobre os cumes dos montes irão saltar, como o ruído da chama de fogo que devora o restolho, como um povo poderoso em posição de combate.
6 At its presence the people are much pained: all the faces are covered with blackness.
6 Diante da face deles o povo sentirá muita dor; todos os rostos se tornarão enegrecidos.
7 Like mighty men do they run; like men of war they climb up a wall; and they march every one on his own ways, and they turn not aside on their paths.
7 Eles correrão como homens poderosos; subirão os muros como homens de guerra; e marchará cada um no seu caminho e não se desviará das suas fileiras.
8 And they do not press one another; every one on his beaten track do they go forward: and they pass through between warlike weapons, and change not their purpose.
8 Ninguém empurrará o outro; andará cada um pelo seu caminho; e quando caírem sobre a espada, não serão feridos.
9 Into the city they hasten forward; on the wall they run; into the houses they climb up; through the windows they make their entrance like a thief.
9 Irão pela cidade, correrão pelos muros, subirão nas casas, entrarão pelas janelas como um ladrão.
10 Before them trembleth the earth; the heavens quake; the sun and the moon are obscured, and the stars withdraw their brightness.
10 A terra tremerá diante deles, os céus se abalarão, o sol e a lua se escurecerão, e as estrelas retirarão o seu brilho.
11 And the Lord uttereth his voice before his army; for very numerous is his camp; for strong is he that executeth his word; for great is the day of the Lord and very terrible; and who is able to endure it?
11 E o SENHOR levantará a sua voz diante do seu exército; porque o seu campo é muitíssimo grande; pois ele é forte, e executa a sua palavra; porque o dia do SENHOR é grande e muito terrível, e quem o poderá suportar?
12 But even now also, saith the Lord, return ye fully to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning:
12 Portanto, agora, diz o SENHOR: Convertei-vos a mim de todo o vosso coração; e com jejum, e com choro, e com pranto.
13 And rend your heart, and not your garments, and return unto the Lord your God; for gracious and merciful is he, long suffering, and of great kindness, and he bethinketh himself of the evil.
13 E rasgai o vosso coração, e não as vossas vestes, e convertei-vos ao SENHOR vosso Deus; pois ele é gracioso e misericordioso, tardio em irar-se, e grande em benignidade, e se arrepende do mal.
14 He that is conscious of guilt, let him return and repent: when the plague may leave behind it a blessing; even a meatoffering and a drinkoffering unto the Lord your God.
14 Quem sabe se não retornará e se arrependerá, e deixará uma bênção após si, uma oferta de alimento e uma oferta de bebida para o SENHOR vosso Deus?
15 Blow the cornet in Zion, sanctify a fast, proclaim a solemn assembly;
15 Tocai a trombeta em Sião, santificai um jejum, convocai uma assembleia solene.
16 Gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the children, and those that suck the breasts; let the bridegroom go forth out of his chamber, and the bride out of her closet.
16 Reuni o povo, santificai a congregação, ajuntai os anciãos, congregai as crianças, e os que mamam os seios; saia o noivo de sua câmara, e a noiva do seu recinto.
17 Between the porch and the altar let the priests weep, the ministers of the Lord, and let them say, Spare, O Lord, thy people, and give not up thy heritage to reproach, for nations to make a byword of them: wherefore should they say among the people, Where is their God?
17 Chorem os sacerdotes, ministros do SENHOR, entre o alpendre e o altar, e digam: Poupa teu povo, ó SENHOR, e não entregues a tua herança ao opróbrio, para que os gentios o governem; por que diriam entre os povos: Onde está o seu Deus?
18 And the Lord was zealous for his land, and he had pity for his people.
18 Então, o SENHOR se mostrará zeloso da sua terra, e se compadecerá de seu povo.
19 And the Lord answered and said unto his people, "Behold, I will send you the corn, and the young wine, and the oil, and ye shall be satisfied therewith; and I will not give you up any more to be a reproach among the nations:
19 Sim o SENHOR responderá, e dirá ao seu povo: Eis que vos enviarei o trigo, e o vinho, e o azeite, e sereis fartos deles, e não mais fareis de vós opróbrio entre os gentios.
20 And the host of the north will I remove far away from you, and I will drive it off into a land barren and desolate, with its advance toward the eastern sea, and its rereward toward the western sea; and its stench shall ascend, and its ill savor shall come up, because it hath done great things."
20 Mas removerei para longe de vós o exército do norte, e o lançarei em uma terra estéril e desolada; com a sua frente para o mar oriental, e a sua retaguarda para o mar ocidental; e o seu mau cheiro subirá, e também a sua podridão; porque ele fez grandes coisas.
21 Fear not, O land; be glad and rejoice; for the Lord hath done great things.
21 Não temas, ó terra: Regozija-te e alegra-te, porque o SENHOR fará grandes coisas.
22 Be not afraid, ye beasts of the field; for the pastures of the wilderness have become green; for the tree beareth its fruit, the figtree and the vine yield their strength.
22 Não temais, animais do campo, porque os pastos do deserto reverdecerão, porque a árvore dará o seu fruto, a figueira e a videira darão a sua força.
23 And ye children of Zion, be glad, and rejoice in the Lord your God; for he hath given you the first rain in beneficence, and he hath caused to come down for you the rain, the first rain, and the latter rain in the first month.
23 Então, alegrai-vos filhos de Sião, e regozijai-vos no SENHOR vosso Deus, porque Ele vos dará a chuva temporã moderadamente; ele fará descer, para vós, a chuva, a temporã e a serôdia, no primeiro mês.
24 And the threshingfloors are full of corn, and the vats overflow with young wine and oil.
24 E as eiras se encherão de trigo, e os lagares transbordarão de vinho e azeite.
25 And I will repay to you the years in which the locust hath eaten all, with the cankerworm, and the cricket, and the caterpillar, my great army, which I had sent against you.
25 E restituirei a vós os anos que a locusta comeu, a lagarta verde, e a lagarta de borboleta e a taturana, o meu grande exército que enviei contra vós.
26 And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the Lord your God, who hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall not be made ashamed unto eternity.
26 E comereis abundantemente e vos satisfareis, e louvareis o nome do SENHOR vosso Deus, que procedeu maravilhosamente para convosco; e o meu povo nunca mais será envergonhado.
27 And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the Lord your God, and none else; and my people shall not be made ashamed unto eternity.
27 E vós sabereis que eu estou no meio de Israel, e que eu sou o SENHOR vosso Deus, e ninguém mais; e o meu povo nunca mais será envergonhado.
28 — ausente —
28 E acontecerá que, depois derramarei o meu Espírito sobre toda a carne, e vossos filhos e vossas filhas profetizarão, os vossos velhos sonharão sonhos, e vossos jovens verão visões.
29 — ausente —
29 E também sobre os servos e sobre as servas naqueles dias derramarei o meu Espírito.
30 — ausente —
30 E mostrarei maravilhas no céu e na terra, sangue e fogo, e pilares de fumaça.
31 — ausente —
31 O sol se converterá em trevas, e a lua em sangue, antes que venha o grande e terrível dia do SENHOR.
32 — ausente —
32 E acontecerá que, todo aquele que invocar o nome do SENHOR será salvo; porque no monte Sião e em Jerusalém haverá livramento, assim como disse o SENHOR, e entre os remanescentes, aqueles que o SENHOR irá chamar.
