Isaías 58

1 Cry with a full throat, spare not, like the cornet lift up thy voice, and declare unto my people their transgression, and to the house of Jacob their sins.
1 “Grite a plenos pulmões, não se detenha! Erga a voz como a trombeta e anuncie ao meu povo a sua transgressão e à casa de Jacó, os seus pecados.
2 Yet me do they ever seek day by day, and to know my ways do they always desire; as a nation that hath done righteousness, and hath not forsaken the ordinance of their God: continually do they ask of me the ordinances of justicedo they desire to draw nigh unto God.
2 Mesmo neste estado, ainda me procuram dia a dia, têm prazer em saber os meus caminhos. Como povo que pratica a justiça e não deixa o direito do seu Deus, perguntam-me por sentenças justas, têm prazer em se aproximar de Deus,
3 "Wherefore have we fasted, and thou seest it not? have we afflicted our soul, and thou regardest it not?" Behold, on the day of your fasting ye follow your business, and all your acquired gains do ye exact.
3 dizendo: ‘Por que jejuamos, se tu nem notas? Por que nos humilhamos, se tu não levas isso em conta?’ Acontece que, no dia em que jejuam, vocês cuidam dos seus próprios interesses e oprimem os seus trabalhadores.
4 Behold, for contention and strife do ye fast, and to smite with the fist of wickedness: ye fast not so at this day, to cause your voice to be heard on high.
4 Eis que vocês jejuam apenas para discutir, brigar e bater uns nos outros; jejuando assim como hoje, o clamor de vocês não será ouvido lá no alto.
5 Is such then the fast which I can choose? a day that a man afflicteth his soul? to bend his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes for his couch? wilt thou call this a fast, and a day of acceptability unto the Lord?
5 Seria este o jejum que escolhi: que num só dia a pessoa se humilhe, incline a sua cabeça como o junco e estenda debaixo de si pano de saco e cinza? É isso o que vocês chamam de jejum e dia aceitável ao
6 Is not this rather the fast that I will choose? to open the snares of wickedness, to undo the bands of the yoke, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye should break asunder every yoke?
6 Será que não é este o jejum que escolhi: que vocês quebrem as correntes da injustiça, desfaçam as ataduras da servidão, deixem livres os oprimidos e acabem com todo tipo de servidão?
7 Is it not to distribute thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the afflicted poor into thy house! when thou seest the naked, that thou clothe him; and that thou hide not thyself from thy own flesh?
7 Será que não é também que vocês repartam o seu pão com os famintos, recolham em casa os pobres desabrigados, vistam os que encontrarem nus e não voltem as costas ao seu semelhante?”
8 Then shall break forth as the morningdawn thy light, and thy healing shall speedily spring forth; and before thee shall go thy righteousness, the glory of the Lord shall be thy rereward.
8 “Então a luz de vocês romperá como a luz do alvorecer, e a sua cura brotará sem demora; a justiça irá adiante de vocês, e a glória do será a sua retaguarda.
9 Then shalt thou call, and the Lord will answer; thou shalt cry, and he will say, Here am I. If thou remove from the midst of thee the yoke, the stretching out of the finger, and speaking wickedly;
9 Então vocês pedirão ajuda, e o gritarão por socorro, e ele dirá: ‘Eis-me aqui.’” “Se tirarem do meio de vocês todo tipo de servidão, o dedo que ameaça e a linguagem ofensiva;
10 And if thou pour out to the hungry thy soul, and satisfy the afflicted soul: then shall shine forth in the darkness thy light, and thy obscurity be as the noonday;
10 se abrirem o seu coração aos famintos e socorrerem os aflitos, então a luz de vocês nascerá nas trevas, e a escuridão em que vocês se encontram será como a luz do meio-dia.
11 And the Lord will guide thee continually, and will satisfy thy soul in times of famine, and will strengthen thy bones; and thou shalt be like a wellwatered garden, and like a spring of water, the waters of which will never deceive.
11 O Senhor os guiará continuamente, lhes dará de comer até em lugares áridos e fortalecerá os seus ossos. Vocês serão como um jardim regado e como um manancial cujas águas nunca secam.
12 And they that spring from thee shall build up the ancient ruins; the foundations of many generations shalt thou raise up again: and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breaches, The restorer of paths to the dwellingplace.
12 Vocês reconstruirão as antigas ruínas, levantarão os fundamentos de muitas gerações e serão chamados de ‘Reparadores de brechas’ e ‘Restauradores de veredas’, para que o país se torne habitável.”
13 If thou restrain thy foot for the sake of the sabbath, not doing thy business on my holy day; and if thou call the sabbath a delight, the holy day of the Lord, honorable; and honor it by not doing thy usual pursuits, by not following thy own business, and speaking vain words:
13 “Se vigiarem os seus pés, para não profanarem o sábado; se deixarem de cuidar dos seus próprios interesses no meu santo dia; se chamarem ao sábado de ‘meu prazer’ e ‘santo dia do digno de honra’; se guardarem o sábado, não seguindo os seus próprios caminhos, não pretendendo fazer a sua própria vontade, nem falando palavras vãs,
14 Then shalt thou find delight in the Lord; and I will cause thee to tread upon the high places of the earth, and I will cause thee to enjoy the inheritance of Jacob thy father; for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.
14 então vocês terão no Senhor a sua fonte de alegria. Eu os farei cavalgar sobre os altos da terra e os sustentarei com a herança de Jacó, seu pai. Porque a boca do
