1 Woe to thee that wastest, while thou wast not wasted; and traitor, while men dealt not treacherously with thee! when thou shalt have made an end of wasting, thou shalt be wasted, and when thou shalt have finished to deal treacherously, men shall deal treacherously with thee.
1 Ai de ti, destruidor que não foste destruído, que procedes perfidamente e não foste tratado com perfídia! Acabando tu de destruir, serás destruído, acabando de tratar perfidamente, serás tratado com perfídia.
2 O Lord, be gracious; we have waited for thee: be thou their support every morning, also our salvation in the time of trouble.
2 Senhor , tem misericórdia de nós; em ti temos esperado; sê tu o nosso braço manhã após manhã e a nossa salvação no tempo da angústia.
3 At the noise of thy thunder people fled; when thou liftedst thyself up nations were scattered.
3 Ao ruído do tumulto, fogem os povos; quando tu te ergues, as nações são dispersas.
4 And your spoil shall be gathered as the cricket gathereth: as locusts run about, so shall people hasten after it.
4 Então, ajuntar-se-á o vosso despojo como se ajuntam as lagartas; como os gafanhotos saltam, assim os homens saltarão sobre ele.
5 The Lord is exalted; for he dwelleth on high; he hath filled Zion with justice and righteousness.
5 O Senhor é sublime, pois habita nas alturas; encheu a Sião de direito e de justiça.
6 And the stability of thy times and the strength of thy happiness shall be wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the Lord is his treasure.
6 Haverá, ó Sião, estabilidade nos teus tempos, abundância de salvação, sabedoria e conhecimento; o temor do Senhor será o teu tesouro.
7 Behold, their valiant ones cry without: the ambassadors of peace weep bitterly.
7 Eis que os heróis pranteiam de fora, e os mensageiros de paz estão chorando amargamente.
8 The highways lie waste, ceased hath the wayfaring traveler: he hath broken the covenant, he despiseth cities, he regardeth not man.
8 As estradas estão desoladas, cessam os que passam por elas; rompem-se as alianças, as cidades são desprezadas, já não se faz caso do homem.
9 It mourneth, it languisheththe land: Lebanon is ashamed, it is withered away; Sharon is become like a wilderness; and bereft of their fruits are Bashan and Carmel.
9 A terra geme e desfalece; o Líbano se envergonha e se murcha; Sarom se torna como um deserto, Basã e Carmelo são despidos de suas folhas.
10 Now will I arise, saith the Lord; now will I raise myself; now will I lift myself up.
10 Agora, me levantarei, diz o Senhor ; levantar-me-ei a mim mesmo; agora, serei exaltado.
11 Ye shall be pregnant with hay, and ye shall bring forth stubble: your breath is a fire, which shall devour you.
11 Concebestes palha, dareis à luz restolho; o vosso bufo enfurecido é fogo que vos há de devorar.
12 And the people shall be burnt as lime: as cutoff thorns shall they blaze up in fire.
12 Os povos serão queimados como se queima a cal; como espinhos cortados, arderão no fogo.
13 Hear, ye distant ones, what I have done; and acknowledge ye that are near my might.
13 Ouvi vós, os que estais longe, o que tenho feito; e vós, os que estais perto, reconhecei o meu poder.
14 In Zion sinners are in dread; trembling hath seized on hypocrites. "Who among us shall abide with the devouring fire? who among us shall abide with everlasting burnings?"
14 Os pecadores em Sião se assombram, o tremor se apodera dos ímpios; e eles perguntam: Quem dentre nós habitará com o fogo devorador? Quem dentre nós habitará com chamas eternas?
15 He that walketh in righteousness, and speaketh uprightly; he that despiseth the gain of oppressions, that shaketh his hands against taking hold of bribes, that stoppeth his ears against hearing of blood, and shutteth his eyes against looking on evil;
15 O que anda em justiça e fala o que é reto; o que despreza o ganho de opressão; o que, com um gesto de mãos, recusa aceitar suborno; o que tapa os ouvidos, para não ouvir falar de homicídios, e fecha os olhos, para não ver o mal,
16 He shall dwell on high; rocky strongholds shall be his refuge: his bread shall be given him; his water shall be sure.
16 este habitará nas alturas; as fortalezas das rochas serão o seu alto refúgio, o seu pão lhe será dado, as suas águas serão certas.
17 The king in his beauty shall thy eyes behold: they shall see a faroff land.
17 Os teus olhos verão o rei na sua formosura, verão a terra que se estende até longe.
18 Thy heart shall meditate on past terror. "Where is who wrote down? where is he that weighed? where is he that counted the towers?"
18 O teu coração se recordará dos terrores, dizendo: Onde está aquele que registrou, onde, o que pesou o tributo, onde, o que contou as torres?
19 The barbarous people shalt thou not see any more, the people of a speech too obscure to be understood, of a stammering tongue, without meaning.
19 Já não verás aquele povo atrevido, povo de fala obscura, que não se pode entender, e de língua bárbara, ininteligível.
20 Look on Zion, the town of our solemn assemblies; thy eyes shall see Jerusalem as an undisturbed residence, a tent that shall not be struck for removal; not one of the stakes of which shall ever be moved, and all the cords of which shall never be torn loose.
20 Olha para Sião, a cidade das nossas solenidades; os teus olhos verão a Jerusalém, habitação tranquila, tenda que não será removida, cujas estacas nunca serão arrancadas, nem rebentada nenhuma de suas cordas.
21 But there will the Lord show himself mighty unto us, in a place of rivers and streams of ample breadth; wherein no oared galley shall go, and a gallant ship shall not pass thereby.
21 Mas o Senhor ali nos será grandioso, fará as vezes de rios e correntes largas; barco nenhum de remo passará por eles, navio grande por eles não navegará.
22 For the Lord is our judge, the Lord is our lawgiver, the Lord is our king; he will save us.
22 Porque o Senhor é o nosso juiz, o Senhor é o nosso legislador, o Senhor é o nosso Rei; ele nos salvará.
23 Loose hang thy tacklings; they cannot well uphold strongly their mast, they cannot spread the sail. Then are divided booty and spoil in abundance, even the lame take the booty.
23 Agora, as tuas enxárcias estão frouxas; não podem ter firme o mastro, nem estender a vela. Então, se repartirá a presa de abundantes despojos; até os coxos participarão dela.
24 And no inhabitant shall say, I am sick: the people that dwell therein shall be one whose iniquity is forgiven.
24 Nenhum morador de Jerusalém dirá: Estou doente; porque ao povo que habita nela, perdoar-se-lhe-á a sua iniquidade.
