1 And Abraham journeyed from there toward the south country, and dwelt between Kadesh and Shur and sojourned in Gerar.
1 E Abraão viajou dali para a terra do sul, e habitou entre Cades e Sur, e peregrinou em Gerar.
2 And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister; and Abimelech the king of Gerar sent and took Sarah.
2 E Abraão disse de Sara, sua esposa: Ela é minha irmã. E Abimeleque, rei de Gerar, enviou e tomou Sara.
3 But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou shalt die for the sake of the woman whom thou hast taken; for she is a mans wife.
3 Mas Deus veio a Abimeleque em um sonho à noite, e lhe disse: Eis que és nada mais que um homem morto, pela mulher que tomaste, pois ela é a mulher de um homem.
4 But Abimelech had not come near to her; and he said, Lord, wilt thou then slay also a righteous nation?
4 Mas Abimeleque não havia se aproximado dela. E ele disse: Senhor, tu matarás também uma nação justa?
5 Said he not unto me, She is my sister? and she, even she herself, said, He is my brother; in the integrity of my heart and the innocency of my hands have I done this.
5 Não me disse ele: Ela é minha irmã? E ela também disse: Ele é meu irmão. Na integridade de meu coração e na inocência das minhas mãos eu fiz isso.
6 And God said unto him in the dream, Yea, I also well know that thou hast done this in the integrity of thy heart; therefore did I also withhold thee from sinning against me; for this cause I suffered thee not to touch her.
6 E Deus lhe disse em um sonho: Sim, eu sei que o fizeste na integridade de teu coração; pois também eu te impedi de pecar contra mim; por isso não te permiti tocá-la.
7 And now restore the mans wife, for he is a prophet, and he will pray for thee, that thou mayest live; and if thou restore her not, know thou, that thou shalt surety die, thou and all that are thine.
7 Agora, portanto, restitui ao homem sua mulher, pois ele é um profeta, e ele orará por ti, e tu viverás; e se tu não a restituíres, sabe que certamente morrerás, tu e todos os que são teus.
8 And Abimelech rose early in the morning, and called all his servants, and told all these things in their hearing; and the men were greatly afraid.
8 Por isso, Abimeleque levantou-se cedo de manhã, e chamou todos os seus servos, e contou todas estas coisas em seus ouvidos. E os homens temeram muito.
9 Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said unto him, What hast thou done unto us? and in what have I offended thee, that thou hast brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? deeds that ought not to be done thou hast done unto me.
9 Então Abimeleque chamou Abraão, e lhe disse: O que nos fizeste? E em que eu te ofendi, para que trouxesses sobre mim e sobre meu reino um grande pecado? Tu fizeste-me coisas que não deviam ser feitas.
10 And Abimelech said unto Abraham, What sawest thou, that thou didst this thing?
10 E Abimeleque disse a Abraão: O que tu viste para fazeres tal coisa?
11 And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely there is no fear of God in this place, and they will slay me for the sake of my wife.
11 E Abraão disse: Porque pensei: Certamente o temor de Deus não está neste lugar, e eles me matarão por causa de minha mulher.
12 And yet indeed she is my sister, the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife.
12 E, na verdade, ela é minha irmã; ela é a filha de meu pai, mas não a filha de minha mãe; e ela se tornou minha mulher.
13 And it came to pass, when God caused me to wander from my fathers house, that I said unto her, This is thy kindness which thou shalt show unto me; at every place whither we shall come, say of me, He is my brother.
13 E aconteceu que, quando Deus me fez peregrinar desde a casa de meu pai, eu disse a ela: Esta é a bondade que tu me mostrarás: em todo lugar aonde chegarmos, dirás de mim: Ele é meu irmão.
14 And Abimelech took sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and womenservants, and gave them unto Abraham, and restored to him Sarah his wife.
14 E Abimeleque tomou ovelhas, e bois, e servos, e servas, e os deu a Abraão, e lhe restituiu Sara, sua esposa.
15 And Abimelech said, Behold, my land is before thee: dwell where it is pleasing in thy eyes.
15 E Abimeleque disse: Eis que a minha terra está diante de ti; habita onde te agradar.
16 And unto Sarah he said, Behold, I have given thy brother a thousand pieces of silver: behold, this is to thee a covering of the eyes unto all that are with thee; and with all others thou canst thus justify thyself.
16 E a Sara ele disse: Eis que eu dei a teu irmão mil peças de prata. Servirão de honra para ti, para todos os que estão contigo e com todos os outros; assim ela foi repreendida.
17 And Abraham prayed unto God; and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maidservants, so that they could bear children.
17 Então Abraão orou a Deus; e Deus curou Abimeleque, e sua esposa, e suas servas; e elas geraram filhos.
18 For the Lord had fast closed up every womb of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah, Abrahams wife.
18 Porque o SENHOR havia fechado totalmente os úteros da casa de Abimeleque por causa de Sara, esposa de Abraão.
