1 And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice; for they will say, The Lord hath not appeared unto thee.
1 Respondeu Moisés: Mas eis que não crerão, nem acudirão à minha voz, pois dirão: O Senhor não te apareceu.
2 And the Lord said unto him, What is that in thy hand? and he said, A staff.
2 Perguntou-lhe o Senhor : Que é isso que tens na mão? Respondeu-lhe: Um bordão.
3 And he said, Cast it on the ground; and he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from before it.
3 Então, lhe disse: Lança-o na terra. Ele o lançou na terra, e o bordão virou uma serpente. E Moisés fugia dela.
4 And the Lord said unto Moses, Put forth thy hand, and grasp it by the tail; and he put forth his hand, and laid hold of it, and it became a staff in his hand.
4 Disse o Senhor a Moisés: Estende a mão e pega-lhe pela cauda (estendeu ele a mão, pegou-lhe pela cauda, e ela se tornou em bordão);
5 In order that they may believe that there hath appeared unto thee the Everlasting One, the God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.
5 para que creiam que te apareceu o Senhor , Deus de seus pais, o Deus de Abraão, o Deus de Isaque e o Deus de Jacó.
6 And the Lord said farthermore unto him, Do put thy hand into thy bosom: and he put his hand into his bosom; and when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous, white as snow.
6 Disse-lhe mais o Senhor : Mete, agora, a mão no peito. Ele o fez; e, tirando-a, eis que a mão estava leprosa, branca como a neve.
7 And he said, Put thy hand again into thy bosom: and he put his hand again into his bosom; and when he pulled it out of his bosom, behold, it was turned again as his other flesh.
7 Disse ainda o Senhor : Torna a meter a mão no peito. Ele a meteu no peito, novamente; e, quando a tirou, eis que se havia tornado como o restante de sua carne.
8 And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe thee, neither hearken to the voice of the first sign, that they will believe the voice of the latter sign.
8 Se eles te não crerem, nem atenderem à evidência do primeiro sinal, talvez crerão na evidência do segundo.
9 And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe also these two signs, and will not hearken unto thy voice, that thou shalt take of the water of the river, and pour it upon the dry land: and the water which thou shalt take out of the river shall become blood upon the dry land.
9 Se nem ainda crerem mediante estes dois sinais, nem te ouvirem a voz, tomarás das águas do rio e as derramarás na terra seca; e as águas que do rio tomares tornar-se-ão em sangue sobre a terra.
10 And Moses said unto the Lord, Pardon, O Lord, I am not a man of words, neither yesterday, nor the day before, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant; for I am heavy of speech, and heavy of tongue.
10 Então, disse Moisés ao Senhor : Ah! Senhor! Eu nunca fui eloquente, nem outrora, nem depois que falaste a teu servo; pois sou pesado de boca e pesado de língua.
11 And the Lord said unto him, Who hath given a mouth to man? or who maketh him dumb, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? is it not I the Lord?
11 Respondeu-lhe o Senhor : Quem fez a boca do homem? Ou quem faz o mudo, ou o surdo, ou o que vê, ou o cego? Não sou eu, o Senhor ?
12 Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and I will teach thee what thou shalt speak.
12 Vai, pois, agora, e eu serei com a tua boca e te ensinarei o que hás de falar.
13 And he said, Pardon, O Lord, send, I pray thee, by the hand of him whom thou wouldst send.
13 Ele, porém, respondeu: Ah! Senhor! Envia aquele que hás de enviar, menos a mim.
14 And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Moses, and he said, Is there not Aaron, thy brother, the Levite? I know that he can speak well; and also, behold, he cometh forth to meet thee; and when he seeth thee, he will be glad in his heart.
14 Então, se acendeu a ira do Senhor contra Moisés, e disse: Não é Arão, o levita, teu irmão? Eu sei que ele fala fluentemente; e eis que ele sai ao teu encontro e, vendo-te, se alegrará em seu coração.
15 And thou shalt speak unto him, and put the words in his mouth: and I will be with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and I will teach you what ye shall do.
15 Tu, pois, lhe falarás e lhe porás na boca as palavras; eu serei com a tua boca e com a dele e vos ensinarei o que deveis fazer.
16 And he shall speak for thee unto the people; and he shall be, yea he shall be to thee as a mouth, and thou shalt be to him as a God.
16 Ele falará por ti ao povo; ele te será por boca, e tu lhe serás por Deus.
17 And this staff shalt thou take in thy hand, wherewith thou shalt do the signs.
17 Toma, pois, este bordão na mão, com o qual hás de fazer os sinais.
18 And Moses went and returned to Jether his fatherinlaw, and said unto him, Let me go, I pray thee, and return unto my brethren that are in Egypt, and see whether they be yet alive; and Jithro said to Moses, Go in peace.
18 Saindo Moisés, voltou para Jetro, seu sogro, e lhe disse: Deixa-me ir, voltar a meus irmãos que estão no Egito para ver se ainda vivem. Disse-lhe Jetro: Vai-te em paz.
19 And the Lord said unto Moses in Midian, Go, return into Egypt; for all the men are dead who sought thy life.
19 Disse também o Senhor a Moisés, em Midiã: Vai, torna para o Egito, porque são mortos todos os que procuravam tirar-te a vida.
20 And Moses took his wife and his sons, and set them upon an ass, and he returned to the land of Egypt; and Moses took the staff of God in his hand.
20 Tomou, pois, Moisés a sua mulher e os seus filhos; fê-los montar num jumento e voltou para a terra do Egito. Moisés levava na mão o bordão de Deus.
21 And the Lord said unto Moses, When thou goest to return into Egypt, regard well all the wonders which I have put in thy hand, and do them before Pharaoh; but I will harden his heart, and he will not let the people go.
21 Disse o Senhor a Moisés: Quando voltares ao Egito, vê que faças diante de Faraó todos os milagres que te hei posto na mão; mas eu lhe endurecerei o coração, para que não deixe ir o povo.
22 And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus hath said the Lord, My son, my firstborn, is Israel.
22 Dirás a Faraó: Assim diz o Senhor : Israel é meu filho, meu primogênito.
23 And I said unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me; and thou refusest to let him go; so, behold, I will slay thy son, thy firstborn.
23 Digo-te, pois: deixa ir meu filho, para que me sirva; mas, se recusares deixá-lo ir, eis que eu matarei teu filho, teu primogênito.
24 And as he was on the journey in the inn, the Lord met him, and sought to kill him.
24 Estando Moisés no caminho, numa estalagem, encontrou-o o Senhor e o quis matar.
25 Then took Zipporah a sharp instrument, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet, and said, Surely a bloody relative art thou to me.
25 Então, Zípora tomou uma pedra aguda, cortou o prepúcio de seu filho, lançou-o aos pés de Moisés e lhe disse: Sem dúvida, tu és para mim esposo sanguinário.
26 And then he withdrew from him; when she said, A bloody relative, but only in respect of the circumcision.
26 Assim, o Senhor o deixou. Ela disse: Esposo sanguinário, por causa da circuncisão.
27 And the Lord said to Aaron, Go to meet Moses, into the wilderness; and he went and met him by the mount of God, and kissed him.
27 Disse também o Senhor a Arão: Vai ao deserto para te encontrares com Moisés. Ele foi e, encontrando-o no monte de Deus, o beijou.
28 And Moses told Aaron all the words of the Lord wherewith he had sent him, and all the signs which he had commanded him.
28 Relatou Moisés a Arão todas as palavras do Senhor , com as quais o enviara, e todos os sinais que lhe mandara.
29 And Moses and Aaron went and assembled all the elders of the children of Israel:
29 Então, se foram Moisés e Arão e ajuntaram todos os anciãos dos filhos de Israel.
30 And Aaron spoke all the words which the Lord had spoken unto Moses; and he did the signs before the eyes of the people.
30 Arão falou todas as palavras que o Senhor tinha dito a Moisés, e este fez os sinais à vista do povo.
31 And the people believed: and when they heard that the Lord had visited the children of Israel, and that he had looked upon their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshipped.
31 E o povo creu; e, tendo ouvido que o Senhor havia visitado os filhos de Israel e lhes vira a aflição, inclinaram-se e o adoraram.
