1 And it came to pass on the third day, that Esther put on her royal apparel, and placed herself in the inner court of the kings house, opposite the kings apartment; and the king was sitting upon his royal throne in the royal apartment, opposite to the entrance of the house.
1 Ao terceiro dia, Ester se aprontou com seus trajes reais e se pôs no pátio interior da casa do rei, defronte da residência do rei; o rei estava assentado no seu trono real fronteiro à porta da residência.
2 And it happened, when the king saw Esther the queen standing in the court, that she obtained grace in his eyes; and the king held out to Esther the golden sceptre that was in his hand; and Esther drew near, and touched the top of the sceptre.
2 Quando o rei viu a rainha Ester parada no pátio, alcançou ela favor perante ele; estendeu o rei para Ester o cetro de ouro que tinha na mão; Ester se chegou e tocou a ponta do cetro.
3 Then said the king unto her, What wilt thou, queen Esther? and what is thy request? if it be equal to half of the kingdom it shall still be given thee.
3 Então, lhe disse o rei: Que é o que tens, rainha Ester, ou qual é a tua petição? Até metade do reino se te dará.
4 And Esther said, If it seem good unto the king, let the king and Haman come this day unto the banquet which I have prepared for him.
4 Respondeu Ester: Se bem te parecer, venha o rei e Hamã, hoje, ao banquete que eu preparei ao rei.
5 Then said the king, Bring Haman quickly hither to fulfill the word of Esther: so came the king with Haman to the banquet which Esther had prepared.
5 Então, disse o rei: Fazei apressar a Hamã, para que atendamos ao que Ester deseja. Vindo, pois, o rei e Hamã ao banquete que Ester havia preparado,
6 And the king said unto Esther at the banquet of wine, What is thy petition? and it shall be granted thee: and what is thy request? even if it be equal to half of the kingdom, it shall still be done.
6 disse o rei a Ester, no banquete do vinho: Qual é a tua petição? E se te dará. Que desejas? Cumprir-se-á, ainda que seja metade do reino.
7 Then answered Esther, and said, My petition and my request are,
7 Então, respondeu Ester e disse: Minha petição e desejo são o seguinte:
8 If I have found grace in the eyes of the king, and if it please the king to grant my petition, and to fulfill my request, that the king may come with Haman to the banquet which I will prepare for them, and tomorrow will I do according to the word of the king.
8 se achei favor perante o rei, e se bem parecer ao rei conceder-me a petição e cumprir o meu desejo, venha o rei com Hamã ao banquete que lhes hei de preparar amanhã, e, então, farei segundo o rei me concede.
9 And Haman went forth on that day joyful and with a glad heart; but when Haman saw Mordecai in the kings gate, who did not rise up, nor move out of the way for him, then was Haman filled against Mordecai with fury.
9 Então, saiu Hamã, naquele dia, alegre e de bom ânimo; quando viu, porém, Mordecai à porta do rei e que não se levantara, nem se movera diante dele, então, se encheu de furor contra Mordecai.
10 Nevertheless Haman refrained himself, and went to his house: he then sent and had his friends brought in with Zeresh his wife.
10 Hamã, porém, se conteve e foi para casa; e mandou vir os seus amigos e a Zeres, sua mulher.
11 And Haman recounted to them the glory of his riches, and the multitude of his children, and all the things wherein the king had made him great, and how he had advanced him above the princes and the servants of the king.
11 Contou-lhes Hamã a glória das suas riquezas e a multidão de seus filhos, e tudo em que o rei o tinha engrandecido, e como o tinha exaltado sobre os príncipes e servos do rei.
12 And Haman said farther, Yea, Esther the queen did not let any one come in with the king unto the banquet that she had prepared but myself: and also for tomorrow am I invited unto her with the king.
12 Disse mais Hamã: A própria rainha Ester a ninguém fez vir com o rei ao banquete que tinha preparado, senão a mim; e também para amanhã estou convidado por ela, juntamente com o rei.
13 Yet all this profiteth me nothing, every time that I see Mordecai the Jew sitting in the kings gate.
13 Porém tudo isto não me satisfaz, enquanto vir o judeu Mordecai assentado à porta do rei.
14 Then said unto him Zeresh his wife with all his friends, Let them make a gallows of fifty cubits high, and in the mourning speak unto the king that they may hang Mordecai thereon; and then go thou in with the king unto the banquet joyfully. And the thing pleased Haman; and he had the gallows made.
14 Então, lhe disse Zeres, sua mulher, e todos os seus amigos: Faça-se uma forca de cinquenta côvados de altura, e, pela manhã, dize ao rei que nela enforquem Mordecai; então, entra alegre com o rei ao banquete. A sugestão foi bem-aceita por Hamã, que mandou levantar a forca.
