1 After these events did king Achashverosh make great Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, and he advanced him; and he placed his seat above that of all the princes that were with him.
1 Depois destas coisas, o rei Assuero promoveu Hamã, o filho de Hamedata, o agagita, e exaltou-o e pôs o seu assento acima de todos os príncipes que estavam com ele.
2 And all the kings servants, that were in the kings gate, bent the knee and prostrated themselves to Haman; for so had the king commanded concerning him; but Mordecai bent not the knee nor prostrated himself.
2 E todos os servos do rei, que estavam no portão do rei, curvaram-se, e reverenciaram Hamã; porque assim tinha ordenado o rei acerca dele. Porém, Mardoqueu não se curvou, tampouco lhe fez reverência.
3 Then said the kings, servants, who were in the kings gate, unto Mordecai, Why transgressest thou the kings command?
3 Então, os servos do rei, que estavam no portão do rei, disseram a Mardoqueu: Por que transgride tu o mandamento do rei?
4 Now it came to pass, when they spoke unto him day by day, and he hearkened not unto them, that they told it to Haman, to see whether the words of Mordecai would be able to stand; for he had told them that be was a Jew.
4 Tendo eles falado com ele dia após dia e, não lhes dando ele ouvidos, referiram-no a Hamã, para ver se a conduta de Mardoqueu seria tolerada; pois Mardoqueu lhes tinha dito que era judeu.
5 And when Haman saw that Mordecai bent not the knee, nor prostrated himself to him, Haman became full of fury.
5 E quando Hamã viu que Mardoqueu não se curvava, nem lhe fazia reverência, então Hamã ficou cheio de ira.
6 But it appeared too contemptible in his eyes to lay his hand on Mordecai alone: for they had told him of the people of Mordecai: therefore Haman sought to destroy all the Jews that were throughout all the kingdom of Achashverosh, the people of Mordecai.
6 E ele considerou escárnio colocar as mãos somente sobre Mardoqueu; porque lhe haviam declarado o povo de Mardoqueu; porquanto Hamã buscou destruir todos os judeus, o povo de Mardoqueu, que estavam em todo o reino de Assuero.
7 In the first month, that is the month Nissan, in the twelfth year of king Achashverosh, some one cast the Pur, that is, the lot, before Haman from day to day, and from month to month, to the twelfth month, which is the month Adar.
7 No primeiro mês, isto é, no mês de nisã, no décimo segundo ano do rei Assuero, lançou-se Pur, isto é, a sorte, diante de Hamã, dia após dia, e mês após mês, até o décimo segundo mês, que é o mês de adar.
8 Then said Haman unto king Achashverosh, There is one people scattered yet separate among the nations in all the provinces of thy kingdom; and their laws are different from those of every people; while they do not execute the laws of the king; and it is no profit for the king to tolerate them.
8 E Hamã disse ao rei Assuero: Existe um certo povo espalhado e disperso no meio do povo em todas as províncias do teu reino; e as suas leis são diferentes de todos os povos; tampouco guardam eles as leis do rei; portanto não é de proveito para o rei tolerá-los.
9 If it be pleasing to the king, let a decree be written to destroy them; and ten thousand talents of silver will I weigh out into the hands of those that have the charge of the business, to bring the same into the kings treasuries.
9 Se aprouver ao rei, que seja escrito que eles podem ser destruídos; e eu pagarei dez mil talentos de prata às mãos daqueles que tiverem o encargo do negócio, para trazê-lo às tesourarias do rei.
10 And the king drew his signetring from off his hand, and gave it unto Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, the adversary of the Jews.
10 E o rei tirou o seu anel da sua mão, e o deu a Hamã, o filho de Hamedata, o agagita, o inimigo dos judeus.
11 And the king said unto Haman, The silver is given to thee, that people also, to do therewith as it seemeth good in thy eyes.
11 E o rei disse a Hamã: A prata te é dada, o povo também, para fazeres com eles como te parecer bem.
12 Then were called the kings scribes in the first month on the thirteenth day thereof, and there was written all just as Haman had commanded unto the kings lieutenants, and to the governors that were over every province, and to the princes of every people, to every province according to its writing, and to every people according to its language: in the name of king Achashverosh was it written, and it was sealed with the kings signetring.
12 Então foram chamados os escribas do rei no décimo terceiro dia do primeiro mês, e ali foi escrito conforme tudo o que Hamã havia ordenado aos tenentes do rei, e aos governadores que estavam sobre cada província, e aos governadores de cada povo e cada província de acordo com a sua escrita, e a cada povo segundo a sua língua; em nome do rei Assuero isto foi escrito, e selado com o anel do rei.
13 And the letters were sent by the runners unto all the kings provinces, to destroy, to kill, and to exterminate all the Jews, from young to old, little ones and women, on one day, on the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar, and to plunder their property as spoil.
13 E as cartas foram enviadas por mensageiros a todas as províncias do rei, para que destruíssem, matassem, e fizessem perecer a todos os judeus, tanto moços como velhos, crianças pequenas e mulheres, em um mesmo dia, a saber, no décimo terceiro dia do décimo segundo mês, o qual é o mês de adar, e que saqueassem o seu despojo.
14 A copy of the writing, to be given out as a law in every province, was published unto all the nations, that they might be ready against that day.
14 A cópia do escrito para um mandamento a ser dado em cada província, foi publicada a todo o povo, para que eles estivessem preparados para aquele dia.
15 The runners went out with all speed with the kings decree, and the law was given out in Shushan the capital: and the king and Haman sat down to drink; but the city of Shushan was perplexed.
15 Os mensageiros saíram às pressas pela ordem do rei, e o decreto foi dado no palácio de Susã. E o rei e Hamã se assentaram para beber; mas a cidade de Susã ficou perplexa.
