1 And after these things, in the reign of Artaxerxes the king of Persia, Ezra the son of Serayah, the son of Azaryah, the son of Chilkiyah,
1 Ora, depois destas coisas, no reinado de Artaxerxes, rei da Pérsia, Esdras, filho de Seraías, filho de Azarias, filho de Hilquias,
2 The son of Shallum, the son of Zadok, the son of Achitub,
2 filho de Salum, filho de Zadoque, filho de Aitube,
3 The son of Amaryah, the son of Azaryah, the son of Merayoth,
3 filho de Amarias, filho de Azarias, filho de Meraiote,
4 The son of Zerachyah, the son of Uzzi, the son of Bukki,
4 filho de Zeraías, filho de Uzi, filho de Buqui,
5 The son of Abishua, the son of Phinehas, the son of Elazar, the son of Aaron the chief priest:
5 filho de Abisua, filho de Finéias, filho de Eleazar, filho de Arão, o sumo sacerdote,
6 This Ezra went up from Babylon; and he was a practised expounder in the law of Moses, which the Lord the God of Israel hath given; and the king gave him, according to the hand of the Lord his God upon him, all his request.
6 este Esdras subiu de Babilônia. E ele era escriba hábil na lei de Moisés, que o Senhor Deus de Israel tinha dado; e segundo a mão de Senhor seu Deus, que estava sobre ele, o rei lhe deu tudo quanto lhe pedira.
7 And there went up some of the children of Israel, and of the priests, and the Levites, and the singers, and the gatekeepers, and the templeservants, unto Jerusalem, in the seventh year of king Artaxerxes.
7 Também subiram a Jerusalém alguns dos filhos de Israel, dos sacerdotes, dos levitas, dos cantores, dos porteiros e dos netinins, no sétimo ano do rei Artaxerxes.
8 And he came to Jerusalem in the fifth month, which was in the seventh year of the king.
8 No quinto mês Esdras chegou a Jerusalém, no sétimo ano deste rei.
9 For on the first day of the first month was the commencement of the expedition from Babylon, and on the first day of the fifth month came he to Jerusalem, according to the good hand of his God upon him.
9 Pois no primeiro dia do primeiro mês ele partiu de Babilônia e no primeiro dia do quinto mês chegou a Jerusalém, graças à mão benéfica do seu Deus sobre ele.
10 For Ezra had directed his heart to inquire in the law of the Lord, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and ordinances.
10 Porque Esdras tinha preparado o seu coração para buscar e cumprir a lei do Senhor, e para ensinar em Israel os seus estatutos e as suas ordenanças.
11 Now this is the copy of the letter which king Artaxerxes gave unto Ezra the priest, the expounder of the law, the expounder of the words of the commandments of the Lord, and of his statutes for Israel.
11 Esta é, pois, a cópia da carta que o rei Artaxerxes deu a Esdras, o sacerdote, o escriba instruído nas palavras dos mandamentos do Senhor e dos seus estatutos para Israel:
12 Artaxerxes, the king of kings, unto Ezra the priest, the expounder of the law of the God of heaven, the perfect, and so forth.
12 Artaxerxes, rei dos reis, ao sacerdote Esdras, escriba da lei do Deus do céu: Saudações.
13 By me is the order given, that every one who is freely willing in my kingdom out of the people of Israel, and their priests and Levites, to go up to Jerusalem, may go up with thee:
13 Por mim se decreta que no meu reino todo aquele do povo de Israel, e dos seus sacerdotes e levitas, que quiser ir a Jerusalém, vá contigo.
14 Forasmuch as thou art sent on the part of the king, and of his seven counsellors, to make inquiry concerning Judah and Jerusalem, according to the law of thy God which is in thy hand;
14 Porquanto és enviado da parte do rei e dos seus sete conselheiros para indagares a respeito de Judá e de Jerusalém, conforme a lei do teu Deus, a qual está na tua mão;
15 And to carry the silver and gold, which the king and his counsellors have freely offered unto the God of Israel, whose habitation is in Jerusalem.
15 e para levares a prata e o ouro que o rei e os seus conselheiros voluntariamente deram ao Deus de Israel cuja habitação está em Jerusalém,
16 And all freewill offerings of silver and gold that thou canst find in all the province of Babylon, with the freewill offerings which the people and the priests offer willingly for the house of their God which is in Jerusalem.
16 com toda a prata e o ouro que achares em toda a província de Babilônia, e com as ofertas voluntárias do povo e dos sacerdotes, que voluntariamente as oferecerem para a casa do seu Deus, que está em Jerusalém;
17 Therefore mayest thou buy speedily with this money bullocks, rams, lambs, with their meatofferings and their drinkofferings, and offer them upon the altar of the house of your God which is in Jerusalem.
17 portanto com toda a diligência comprarás com este dinheiro novilhos, carneiros, e cordeiros, com as suas ofertas de cereais e as suas ofertas de libações, e os oferecerás sobre o altar da casa do vosso Deus, que está em Jerusalém.
18 And whatsoever shall seem good to thee, and to thy brethren, to do with the rest of the silver and the gold, that do according to the will of your God.
18 Também o que a ti e a teus irmãos parecer bem fazerdes do resto da prata e do ouro, o fareis conforme a vontade do vosso Deus.
19 And the vessels which have been given unto thee for the service of the house of thy God, deliver thou before the God of Jerusalem.
19 Os vasos que te foram dados para o serviço da casa do teu Deus, entrega-os todos perante ele, o Deus de Jerusalém.
20 And the remainder that will yet be needful for the house of thy God, which thou shalt have occasion to procure, procure out of the Kings treasurehouse.
20 E tudo o mais que for necessário para a casa do teu Deus, e que te convenha dar, o darás da casa dos tesouros do rei.
21 And by me, me King Artaxerxes, is the order given unto all the treasurers who are beyond the river, that whatsoever Ezra the priest, the expounder of the law of the God of heaven, may demand of you, shall be done speedily.
21 E eu, o rei Artaxerxes, decreto a todos os tesoureiros que estão na província dalém do Rio, que tudo quanto vos exigir o sacerdote Esdras, escriba da lei do Deus do céu, prontamente se lhe conceda,
22 Up to one hundred talents of silver, and up to one hundred cors of wheat, and up to one hundred baths of wine, and up to one hundred baths of oil, and salt without prescribing it.
22 até cem talentos de prata cem coros de trigo, cem batos de vinho, cem batos de azeite, e sal à vontade.
23 Whatsoever is ordered by the God of heaven shall be carefully done for the house of the God of heaven; for why should there be wrath against the kingdom of the king and his sons?
23 Tudo quanto for ordenado pelo Deus do céu, isso precisamente se faça para a casa do Deus do céu; pois, por que haveria ira sobre o reino do rei e de seus filhos?
24 And to you make we it known, that on any of the priests and Levites, singers, gatekeepers, and templeservants, or ministers of this house of God, no one shall be empowered to impose any tax, tribute, or toll.
24 Também vos notificamos acerca de todos os sacerdotes e levitas, cantores, porteiros, netinins, e outros servos desta casa de Deus, que não será lícito exigir-lhes nem tributo, nem imposto, nem pedágio.
25 And thou, Ezra, according to the wisdom of thy God which is in thy hand, appoint judges and magistrates, who are to judge all the people that are beyond the river, all such as know the laws of thy God; and make ye them known to those that know them not.
25 E tu, Esdras, conforme a sabedoria do teu Deus, que possuis, constitui magistrados e juízes, que julguem todo o povo que está na província dalém do Rio, isto é, todos os que conhecem as leis do teu Deus; e ensina-as ao que não as conhece.
26 And if there be any one who will not execute the law of thy God, and the law of the king, let justice be speedily executed upon him, whether it be unto death or to banishment, or to a fine on goods, or to imprisonment.
26 E todo aquele que não observar a lei do teu Deus e a lei do rei, com zelo se lhe execute a justiça: quer seja morte, quer desterro, quer confiscação de bens, quer prisão.
27 Blessed be the Lord the God of our fathers, who hath put the like of this in the heart of the king, to glorify the house of the Lord which is in Jerusalem;
27 Bendito seja o Senhor Deus de nossos pais, que pôs no coração do rei este desejo de ornar a casa do Senhor, que está em Jerusalém;
28 And who hath extended kindness unto me before the king and his counsellors, and before all the mighty princes of the king: and I strengthened myself according to the hand of the Lord my God upon me, and I gathered together out of Israel principal men to go up with me.
28 e que estendeu sobre mim a sua benevolência perante o rei e os seus conselheiros e perante todos os príncipes poderosos do rei. Assim encorajado pela mão do Senhor, meu Deus, que estava sobre mim, ajuntei dentre Israel alguns dos homens principais para subirem comigo.
