1 And this is the commandment, with the statutes, and the ordinances, which the Lord your God hath commanded to teach you, to do them in the land whither ye are passing over to possess it:
1 Moisés disse ao povo: — São esses os mandamentos e as
2 In order that you mayest fear the Lord thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou and thy son, and thy sons son, all the days of thy life; and in order that thy days may be prolonged.
2 Temam o Senhor , nosso Deus, vocês, os seus filhos e os seus netos, e cumpram sempre todos os mandamentos e leis que eu lhes estou dando e assim vocês viverão muitos anos.
3 Hear, therefore, O Israel, and observe to do them; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase greatly, as the Lord the God of thy fathers hath spoken to thee, in the land flowing with milk and honey.
3 Povo de Israel, tenha o cuidado de cumprir a lei de Deus. Então, conforme disse o Senhor , o Deus dos nossos antepassados, tudo correrá bem para vocês, e vocês se tornarão numerosos naquela terra boa e rica onde vão viver.
4 Hear, O Israel! The Lord, our God, is the One Eternal Being.
4 — Escute, povo de Israel! O Senhor , e somente o Senhor , é o nosso Deus.
5 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
5 Portanto, amem o Senhor , nosso Deus, com todo o coração, com toda a alma e com todas as forças.
6 And these words which I command thee this day, shall be in thy heart:
6 Guardem sempre no coração as leis que eu lhes estou dando hoje
7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and thou shalt speak of them when thou sittest in thy house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
7 e não deixem de ensiná-las aos seus filhos. Repitam essas leis em casa e fora de casa, quando se deitarem e quando se levantarem.
8 And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thy hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thy eyes.
8 Amarrem essas leis nos braços e na testa, para não as esquecerem;
9 And thou shalt write them upon the doorposts of thy house, and upon thy gates.
9 e as escrevam nos batentes das portas das suas casas e nos seus portões.
10 And it shall be, when the Lord thy God shall bring thee into the land which he hath sworn unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give unto thee, great and goodly cities, which thou didst not build,
10 Moisés continuou: — O
11 And houses full of all good things, which thou didst not fill, and wells hewed out which thou didst not hew, vineyards and olivetrees, which thou didst not plant; and thou hast eaten and art satisfied:
11 há casas cheias de objetos de valor, que vocês não ajuntaram; poços de água, que vocês não cavaram; e plantações de uvas e de azeitonas, que vocês não plantaram. Quando o Senhor os levar para essa terra, e vocês tiverem comida à vontade,
12 Then beware that thou do not forget the Lord, who hath brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of slavery.
12 tenham o cuidado de não esquecerem Deus, que os tirou do Egito, onde vocês eram escravos.
13 The Lord thy God shalt thou fear, and him shalt thou serve, and by his name shalt thou swear.
13 Temam o Senhor , seu Deus, sirvam somente a ele e jurem só pelo nome dele.
14 Ye shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the nations which are round about you;
14 Não adorem outros deuses, os deuses dos povos vizinhos.
15 For the Lord thy God is a watchful God among you: so that the anger of the Lord thy God may not be kindled against thee, and he destroy thee from off the face of the earth.
15 Pois o Senhor , nosso Deus, está com vocês e ele não tolera outros deuses. Se vocês os adorarem, o Senhor ficará irado com vocês e destruirá vocês completamente.
16 Ye shall not tempt the Lord your God, as ye tempted him in Massah.
16 — Não ponham à prova o Senhor , seu Deus, como o puseram à prova em Massá.
17 Ye shall diligently keep the commandments of the Lord your God, and his testimonies, and his statutes, which he hath commanded thee.
17 Obedeçam cuidadosamente a todos os mandamentos e leis que ele lhes deu.
18 And thou shalt do that which is right and good in the eyes of the Lord; in order that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest go in and take possession of the good land which the Lord hath sworn unto thy fathers,
18 Façam aquilo que Deus acha bom e certo, e assim tudo correrá bem para vocês, e vocês entrarão e tomarão posse da boa terra que o Senhor jurou dar aos nossos antepassados.
19 To cast out all thy enemies from before thee; as the Lord hath spoken.
19 E, conforme prometeu, ele expulsará todos os inimigos que vocês enfrentarem.
20 When thy son should ask thee in time to come, saying, What mean the testimonies, and the statutes, and the ordinances, which the Lord our God hath commanded you?
20 — No futuro os seus filhos perguntarão: “Por que foi que o Senhor , nosso Deus, nos deu estes mandamentos e estas leis?”
21 Then shalt thou say unto thy son, We were bondmen unto Pharaoh in Egypt; and the Lord brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand;
21 Aí vocês responderão: “Nós éramos escravos do rei do Egito, mas o Senhor , com o seu grande poder, nos tirou de lá.
22 And the Lord let come signs and wonders, great and sore, on Egypt, on Pharaoh, and on all his household, before our eyes;
22 Nós vimos com os nossos próprios olhos os grandes milagres e as coisas espantosas que Deus fez contra os egípcios e contra o seu rei e toda a gente do seu palácio.
23 And us he brought out from there; in order to bring us in, to give us the land which he had sworn unto our fathers.
23 E Deus nos tirou do Egito para nos trazer aqui e nos dar esta terra, como havia jurado aos nossos antepassados.
24 And the Lord commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the Lord our God; that it might be well with us at all times, and that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day.
24 Ele nos mandou obedecer a todas estas leis e sempre temer o Senhor , nosso Deus. Se fizermos isso, ele nos guardará de todo mal, como tem feito até hoje, e tudo sempre correrá bem para nós.
25 And it shall be accounted righteousness unto us, if we observe to do all this commandment before the Lord our God, as he hath commanded us.
25 E, se tivermos o cuidado de obedecer a todas estas leis que o Senhor , nosso Deus, nos deu, a nossa vida agradará a ele.”
