1 When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass, that if she find no favor in his eyes, because he hath found some scandalous thing in her, he may write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her away out of his house;
1 Moisés disse ao povo: — Pode acontecer que um homem case, mas depois de algum tempo não goste mais da esposa porque há nela alguma coisa que não agrada a ele. Nesse caso ele deve preparar um documento de divórcio, entregá-lo à esposa e mandá-la embora.
2 And she shall depart out of his house; and if she go and become another mans wife;
2 Ela irá, e então poderá acontecer que case com outro homem
3 And the latter husband hate her, and write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her away out of his house; or if the latter husband, who took her as his wife, should die:
3 e que este também não goste mais dela e se divorcie; ou então poderá acontecer que ele morra.
4 Then shall her former husband, who had sent her away, not be at liberty to take her again to be his wife, after she hath been defiled; for it is abomination before the Lord; and thou shalt not bring sin upon the land, which the Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.
4 Em qualquer um desses casos, o primeiro marido não poderá casar de novo com essa mulher; ela é impura para ele. Casar de novo com ela seria uma ofensa contra Deus, o Senhor . Portanto, não deixem que se cometa um pecado tão grave assim na terra que o Senhor , nosso Deus, lhes está dando para ser de vocês.
5 When a man hath taken a new wife, he shall not go out to war, neither shall he be charged with any public business: he shall be free for his house one year, and shall cheer up his wife whom he hath taken.
5 — Um homem que tenha casado há pouco tempo ficará livre por um ano do serviço militar e de qualquer outro serviço público. Ele tem o direito de ficar em casa um ano, fazendo com que a sua esposa se sinta feliz.
6 No man shall take to pledge the nether or the upper millstone; for he taketh a mans life to pledge.
6 — Quando você emprestar alguma coisa a alguém, não aceite como garantia de pagamento as duas pedras de moinho que ele usa para moer o trigo e não pegue nem mesmo só a pedra de cima; pois, se ele não tiver as duas, não poderá moer o trigo e assim morrerá de fome.
7 If a man be found stealing any one of his brethren of the children of Israel, and he treateth him as a slave, and selleth him: then shall that thief die; and thou shalt put the evil away from the midst of thee.
7 — Se alguém raptar outro israelita e obrigá-lo a ser seu escravo ou o vender, esse criminoso será morto. Assim vocês tirarão o mal do meio do povo de Israel.
8 Take heed of the plague of leprosy, to observe diligently, and to do according to all that the priests, the Levites, may instruct you; as I have commanded them, so shall ye observe to do.
8 — Se você ficar com uma doença contagiosa da pele, siga com todo o cuidado as instruções dos sacerdotes levitas . Obedeça a todas as ordens que eu dei a eles.
9 Remember what the Lord thy God did unto Miriam on the journey, at your coming forth out of Egypt.
9 Não esqueça aquilo que o Senhor , nosso Deus, fez com Míriam quando estávamos saindo do Egito.
10 When thou dost lend thy brother any thing as a loan, thou shalt not go into his house to take his pledge.
10 — Quando você emprestar alguma coisa a outro israelita, e ele prometer como garantia de pagamento a capa de dormir, não entre na casa dele a fim de pegar a capa,
11 In the street shalt thou stand, and the man to whom thou dost lend shall bring out unto thee the pledge into the street.
11 mas espere lá fora até que ele a traga para você.
12 And if he be a poor man, thou shalt not lie down with his pledge:
12 Se ele for pobre, não fique com a capa durante a noite;
13 Thou shalt punctually deliver him the pledge again when the sun goeth down, that he may lie under his own cover, and bless thee; and unto thee shall it be as righteousness before the Lord thy God.
13 devolva-a ao dono antes do pôr do sol, para que a use como cobertor. Ele ficará agradecido, e você terá feito aquilo que o Senhor , nosso Deus, acha certo.
14 Thou shalt not withhold the wages of a hired man, of the poor and needy, whether he be of thy brethren, or of the strangers that are in thy land within thy gates.
14 — Não explore o empregado pobre e humilde, que é pago por dia, seja ele israelita ou um estrangeiro que mora na cidade onde você vive.
15 On the same day shalt thou give him his wages, that the sun may not go down upon it; for he is poor, and his soul longeth for it; so that he may not cry against thee unto the Lord, and it be sin in thee.
15 Pague o salário dele no mesmo dia, antes do pôr do sol, pois ele é pobre e espera ansioso pelo dinheiro. Se você não pagar, ele gritará a Deus, o Senhor , contra você, e você será culpado de pecado.
16 Fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall children be put to death for the fathers: for his own sin shall every man be put to death.
16 — Os pais não serão mortos por causa de crimes cometidos pelos filhos, nem os filhos por causa de crimes cometidos pelos pais; uma pessoa será morta somente como castigo pelo crime que ela mesma cometeu.
17 Thou shalt not pervert the cause of the stranger, or of the fatherless; and thou shalt not take in pledge the raiment of a widow;
17 — Respeitem os direitos dos órfãos e dos estrangeiros que moram nas cidades de vocês. Não aceitem como garantia de pagamento de uma dívida a roupa da viúva a quem vocês emprestaram alguma coisa.
18 But thou shalt remember that thou waste a bondman in Egypt, and that the Lord thy God redeemed thee thence; therefore do I command thee to do this thing.
18 Lembrem que vocês foram escravos no Egito e que o Senhor , nosso Deus, os tirou dali. Por isso eu exijo que obedeçam a essa lei .
19 When thou cuttest down thy harvest in thy field, and forgettest a sheaf in the field, thou shalt not go back to fetch it; for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow shall it be; in order that the Lord thy God may bless thee in all the work of thy hands.
19 — Pode acontecer que na colheita do trigo ou da cevada você esqueça de pegar um feixe de espigas; nesse caso, não volte para pegá-lo, mas deixe-o lá no campo para os estrangeiros, para os órfãos e para as viúvas. Assim o Senhor , nosso Deus, abençoará tudo o que você fizer.
20 When thou beatest thy olivetree, thou shalt not go over the boughs again; for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow shall it be.
20 Na colheita das azeitonas, depois que você sacudir as oliveiras, não volte para pegar as azeitonas que ficaram nas árvores; deixe-as para os estrangeiros, para os órfãos e para as viúvas.
21 When thou gatherest the grapes of thy vineyard, thou shalt not glean the small fruit afterward; for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow shall it be.
21 E faça só uma colheita de uvas nas suas plantações; as uvas que ficarem nos pés serão deixadas para os estrangeiros, para os órfãos e para as viúvas.
22 And thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in the land of Egypt; therefore do I command thee to do this thing:
22 Lembrem que vocês foram escravos no Egito; é por isso que eu exijo que obedeçam a essa lei.
