1 If there be found a slain person in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee to possess it, lying in the field, and it be not known who hath slain him:
1 Se na terra que o SENHOR teu Deus te der, for encontrado algum morto, caído no campo, e não se souber quem o matou,
2 Then shall thy elders and thy judges go forth, and they shall measure unto the cities which are round about the one that is slain.
2 então virão os teus anciãos e os teus juízes, e medirão até as cidades que estiverem à volta do morto.
3 And it shall be, that the city which is the nearest unto the slain person, even the elders of that city shall take a heifer, which hath not been wrought with, which hath not drawn in a yoke;
3 E acontecerá que, na cidade que for mais próxima do morto, os anciãos dessa cidade tomarão uma novilha, com que não se tenha lavrado, e que não tenha sido presa ao jugo;
4 And the elders of that city shall bring down the heifer unto a rough valley, which is neither tilled nor sown, and they shall break there the neck of the heifer in the valley;
4 e os anciãos dessa cidade trarão a novilha a um vale áspero, que não seja arado nem cultivado, e ali no vale degolarão a novilha.
5 And the priests the sons of Levi shall come near; for them the Lord thy God hath chosen to minister unto him, and to bless in the name of the Lord; and after their decision shall be done at every controversy and every injury;
5 E os sacerdotes, os filhos de Levi, se aproximarão, porque o SENHOR teu Deus os escolheu para que ministrem, e para que abençoem em nome do SENHOR; e pela sua palavra será julgada cada controvérsia e cada discussão;
6 And all the elders of that city who are nearest unto the slain person shall wash their hands over the heifer, the neck of which is broken in the valley.
6 e todos os anciãos daquela cidade que estiverem próximos do homem morto lavarão suas mãos sobre a novilha degolada no vale;
7 And they shall commence and say, Our hands have not shed this blood, and our eyes have not seen it.
7 e responderão e dirão: Nossas mãos não derramaram este sangue, nem nossos olhos o viram.
8 Grant pardon unto thy people Israel, whom thou hast redeemed, O Lord, and lay not innocent blood in the midst of thy people Israel: and the blood shall be forgiven unto them.
8 Sê misericordioso, ó SENHOR, com o teu povo Israel, a quem resgataste, e não derrama sangue inocente como acusação ao teu povo de Israel. E o sangue lhes será perdoado.
9 And thou shalt put away the guilt of the innocent blood from the midst of thee, when thou wilt do what is right in the eyes of the Lord.
9 Assim, tirareis a culpa do sangue inocente do meio de vós, quando fizerdes aquilo que é reto aos olhos do SENHOR.
10 When thou goest forth to war against thy enemies, and the Lord thy God delivereth them into thy hands, and thou takest captives of them;
10 Quando saíres para guerrear contra os teus inimigos, e o SENHOR teu Deus os tiver entregado nas tuas mãos, e tu os tiveres cativos,
11 And thou seest among the captives a woman of handsome form, and hast a desire unto her, that thou wouldst take her to thee for wife:
11 e vires entre os cativos uma bela mulher, e a cobiçares, e desejares tomá-la como tua esposa,
12 Then shalt thou bring her home to thy house; and she shall shave her head, and let grow her nails;
12 então a trarás para a tua casa, e ela raspará a sua cabeça, e cortará as suas unhas;
13 And she shall put off the raiment of her captivity from her, and she shall remain in thy house, and weep for her father and her mother a full month; and after that thou mayest go in unto her, and be her husband, that she may become thy wife.
13 e despirá a veste do seu cativeiro, e permanecerá na tua casa, e lamentará seu pai e sua mãe durante um mês inteiro; e depois disso entrarás a ela, e serás seu marido, e ela será tua esposa.
14 And it shall be, if thou have no delight in her, then shalt thou let her go whither she will; but thou shalt nowise sell her for money; thou shalt not make a servant of her, because thou hast humbled her.
14 E acontecerá que, se não tiveres deleite nela, então a deixarás ir, para onde ela quiser; mas de maneira nenhuma a venderás por dinheiro; não comercializarás com ela, porque a humilharás.
15 If a man have two wives, one beloved, and the other hated, and they bear him children, both the beloved and the hated; so that the firstborn son be hers that is hated:
15 Se um homem tiver duas esposas, uma amada e outra odiada, e elas lhe derem filhos, tanto a amada como a odiada, e se o primogênito for filho da esposa odiada;
16 Then shall it be, when he divideth as inheritance among his sons what he hath, that he shall not institute the son of the beloved as the firstborn before the son of the hated, the firstborn;
16 então, quando ele fizer com que seus filhos herdem aquilo que ele tem, que não poderá fazer com que o filho da esposa amada seja primogênito, antes que o primogênito da odiada, que é de fato o primogênito;
17 But the firstborn, the son of the hated woman, shall he acknowledge, to give him a double portion of all that is found in his possession; for he is the beginning of his strength; to him belongeth the right of the first birth.
17 mas ele reconhecerá o filho da odiada como o primogênito, dando-lhe uma porção dupla de tudo o que tem; porque ele é o princípio da sua força; o direito da primogenitura é dele.
18 If a man have a stubborn and rebellious son, who hearkeneth not to the voice of his father, or the voice of his mother, and they chastise him, and he will not hearken unto them:
18 Se um homem tiver um filho obstinado e rebelde, que não quer obedecer à voz do seu pai, ou à voz da sua mãe, e que quando o tiverem punido, não lhes der ouvidos,
19 Then shall his father and his mother lay hold on him, and bring him out unto the elders of his city, and unto the gate of his place;
19 então seu pai e sua mãe o pegarão e o levarão até os anciãos de sua cidade, e até a porta desse lugar;
20 And they shall say unto the elders of his city, This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not hearken to our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard.
20 e dirão aos anciãos de sua cidade: Este nosso filho é obstinado e rebelde, ele não obedece à nossa voz; ele é um glutão, e um beberrão.
21 And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die; and thou shalt put away the evil from the midst of thee; and all Israel shall hear, and be afraid.
21 E todos os homens de sua cidade o apedrejarão com pedras, para que ele morra; assim afastarás o mal do teu meio, e todo Israel ouvirá, e temerá.
22 And if a man have committed a sin for which there is a punishment of death, and he be to be put to death, and thou hang him on a tree:
22 E se um homem tiver cometido um pecado merecedor de morte, e tiver que ser morto, e o pendurares em um madeiro,
23 Then shall his body not remain all night on the tree, but thou shalt surely bury him on that day; for he that is hanged is a dishonor of God;and thou shalt not defile thy land, which the Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.
23 seu corpo não permanecerá a noite toda no madeiro, mas de qualquer maneira o sepultarás naquele dia; (porque aquele que é enforcado é amaldiçoado por Deus), para que não se contamine a terra que o SENHOR teu Deus te deu como herança.
