1 King Belshazzar prepared a great feast for a thousand of his lords, and before these thousand did he drink wine.
1 O rei Belsazar fez uma grande festa para mil de seus senhores, e bebeu vinho perante os mil.
2 Belshazzar ordered, through the counsel of the wine, to bring in the golden and silver vessels which his father Nebuchadnezzar had taken away out of the temple which was in Jerusalem: that the king, and his lords, his wives, and his concubines, might drink therefrom.
2 Belsazar, enquanto experimentava o vinho, ordenou que trouxessem os vasos de ouro e prata que o seu pai, Nabucodonosor, havia retirado do templo que estava em Jerusalém, para que o rei e os seus príncipes, as suas esposas e concubinas, pudessem beber neles.
3 Then they brought in the golden vessels that were taken away out of the temple of the house of God which was at Jerusalem; and the king, and his lords, his wives, and his concubines, drank from them.
3 Então eles trouxeram os vasos de ouro que foram retirados do templo da casa de Deus, que estava em Jerusalém, e o rei e seus príncipes, suas esposas e concubinas beberam neles.
4 They drank wine, and praised their gods of gold, and of silver, of copper, of iron, of wood, and of stone.
4 Eles beberam vinho e louvaram os deuses de ouro e de prata, de bronze, de ferro, de madeira e de pedra.
5 At that same hour came forth fingers of a mans hand, and wrote opposite to the chandelier upon the plaster of the wall of the kings palace: and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote.
5 Na mesma hora, surgiram dedos de uma mão de homem, e escreveram defronte do castiçal sobre o cal da parede do palácio do rei; e o rei viu a parte da mão que escreveu.
6 Then was the kings color changed, and his thoughts troubled him: so that the bands of his loins were loosed, and his knees knocked one against the other.
6 Então mudou-se o semblante do rei, e os pensamentos o atribularam tanto que as juntas dos seus lombos se afrouxaram, e os seus joelhos batiam um contra o outro.
7 the king called with might to bring in the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers. The king commenced, and said to the wise men of Babylon, Whatsoever man will read this writing, and tell me its interpretation, shall be clothed with purple, and have a chain of gold about his neck, and shall rule as the third in the kingdom.
7 O rei bradou ordenando que trouxessem os astrólogos, os caldeus e os adivinhos. E o rei falou e disse aos homens sábios de Babilônia: Aquele que ler este escrito, e mostrar-me a sua interpretação será vestido com escarlate, terá uma corrente de ouro ao redor do seu pescoço e será o terceiro governante no reino.
8 Then came in all the wise men of the king; but they were not able to read the writing, nor to make its interpretation known to the king.
8 Então entraram todos os homens sábios do rei; mas eles não puderam ler o escrito, e nem fazer conhecida ao rei a sua interpretação.
9 Then was king Belshazzar greatly terrified, and his color was changed on him, and his lords were confounded.
9 Então o rei Belsazar atribulou-se grandemente, e mudou-se-lhe o semblante, e os seus senhores ficaram atônitos.
10 Now the queen in consequence of the words of the king and of his lords came into the banquethouse; the queen commenced and said, O king, live for ever; let thy thoughts not trouble thee, nor let thy color be changed:
10 Ora, a rainha, por causa das palavras do rei e de seus senhores, adentrou a casa de banquete; e a rainha falou, e disse: Ó rei, vive para sempre; não te atormentem os teus pensamentos, e nem mude o teu semblante;
11 There is a man in thy kingdom in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of thy father enlightenment and intelligence and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, were found in him: and king Nebuchadnezzar thy father appointed him chief of the magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers:yes, thy father, O king.
11 há um homem em teu reino em quem habita o espírito dos santos deuses, e nos dias de teu pai, luz e entendimento e sabedoria, como a sabedoria dos deuses, havia nele; a quem o rei Nabucodonosor, teu pai, o rei, eu digo, teu pai, fez mestre dos magos, astrólogos, caldeus e adivinhos;
12 Forasmuch as a superior spirit, and knowledge, and intelligence, interpreting of dreams, and solving of riddles, and of untying knotty doubts, were found in him, in Daniel, to whom the king assigned the name of Belteshazzar: now let Daniel be called, and he will tell the interpretation.
12 porquanto um espírito excelente, e conhecimento, e entendimento, e interpretação de sonhos, e entrega de duras sentenças e a solução de dúvidas, encontraram-se no mesmo Daniel, a quem o rei chamou Beltessazar; agora, chame-se Daniel, e ele mostrará a interpretação.
13 Then was Daniel brought in before the king: the king commenced and said unto Daniel, Art thou Daniel, who art of the children of the exiles of Judah, whom the king my father brought out of Judah?
13 Então Daniel foi introduzido perante o rei. E o rei falou, e disse a Daniel: És tu aquele Daniel, que é dos filhos dos cativos de Judá, a quem o rei, meu pai, trouxe de Judá?
14 And I have heard of thee, that the spirit of the gods is in thee, and that enlightenment and intelligence and superior wisdom are found in thee.
14 A teu respeito tenho ouvido dizer, que o espírito dos deuses está em ti, e que luz e entendimento e excelente sabedoria encontram-se em ti.
15 And now the wise men, the astrologers, had been brought before me, that they should read this writing, and make known unto me its interpretation; but they were not able to tell the interpretation of the matter.
15 E agora os homens sábios, os astrólogos, foram trazidos diante de mim para lerem este escrito, e me fazerem conhecer a sua interpretação, porém eles não puderam mostrar-me a interpretação do assunto;
16 But I have truly heard concerning thee, that thou art able to give interpretations, and untie knotty doubts: now if thou art able to read the writing, and make known to me its interpretation, thou shalt be clothed with purple, with a chain of gold about thy neck, and shalt rule as the third in the kingdom.
16 e eu ouvi a respeito de ti, que tu podes fazer interpretações e resolver dúvidas; agora, se tu podes ler o escrito e fazer-me conhecer a sua interpretação, serás vestido com escarlate, e terás uma corrente de ouro ao redor do teu pescoço, e serás o terceiro governante no reino.
17 Then answered Daniel and said before the king, Let thy gifts remain in thy possession, and bestow thy bounty on another: nevertheless will I read the writing unto the king, and make known to him the interpretation.
17 Então Daniel respondeu e disse perante o rei: Fiquem para ti os teus presentes, e dá as tuas recompensas para outro; eu, contudo, lerei o escrito para o rei e lhe farei conhecida a interpretação.
18 O thou king! the most high God gave kingdom, and greatness, and glory, and honor unto Nebuchadnezzar thy father;
18 Ó rei, o altíssimo Deus deu ao teu pai Nabucodonosor, um reino, e majestade, e glória, e honra;
19 And because of the greatness that he had given unto him, all people, nations, and languages trembled and shook before him: whom he pleased he slew; and whom he pleased he kept alive; and whom he pleased he lifted up; and whom he pleased he brought low.
19 e por causa da majestade que lhe fora dada, todos os povos, nações e línguas, tremiam e temiam diante dele; a quem queria matava; a quem queria mantinha vivo, e a quem queria erguia; e a quem queria derrubava.
20 But, when his heart was lifted up, and his spirit hardened to deal presumptuously, he was cast down from the throne of his kingdom, and his dignity did they take from him;
20 Porém quando elevou-se o seu coração, e endureceu-se a sua mente em orgulho, ele foi deposto do seu majestoso trono, e tiraram-lhe a sua glória;
21 And from the sons of men was he driven forth, and his heart became equal with that of the beasts, and with the wild asses was his dwelling; they suffered him to eat herbs like oxen, and with the dew of heaven was his body made wet: till he acknowledged that the most high God ruleth over the kingdom of men, and that he appointeth over it whomsoever he pleaseth.
21 e ele foi retirado dentre os filhos dos homens, e o seu coração tornou-se como o dos animais, e a sua habitação foi com os jumentos selvagens. Alimentaram-no com grama como bois, e o seu corpo foi molhado com o orvalho do céu, até que ele soube que o altíssimo Deus governa no reino dos homens, e estabelece a quem ele quer.
22 And thou his son, O Belshazzar, hast not humbled thy heart, though thou knewest all this;
22 E tu, seu filho, ó Belsazar, não tens humilhado o teu coração, embora soubesses tudo isto;
23 But against the Lord of heaven hast thou lifted thyself up; and the vessels of his house have they brought before thee, and thou, and thy lords, thy wives, and thy concubines, have drunk wine from them; and the gods of silver, and gold, of copper, iron, wood, and stone, which neither see, nor hear, nor know, hast thou praised; and the God in whose hand thy soul is, and whose are all thy ways, hast thou not glorified:
23 porém te levantaste contra o Senhor do céu, e trouxeram-te os vasos da sua casa diante de ti; e neles beberam vinho tu e teus senhores, tuas esposas e tuas concubinas; e tu tens louvado os deuses de prata e ouro, de bronze e ferro, madeira e pedra, os quais não veem, nem escutam, nem sabem; e o Deus em cuja mão está o teu fôlego, e de quem são todos os teus caminhos tu não tens glorificado.
24 Thereupon was sent from before him the part of the hand, and this writing was noted down.
24 Então, dele foi enviada a parte da mão, e escrito foi esta escrita.
25 And this is the writing that was noted down, Mne, Mne, Tkel, Upharsin.
25 E este foi o escrito que se escreveu: Mene, Mene, Tequel, upharsin.
26 This the interpretation of the matter: Mne, God hath numbered thy kingdom, and made an end of it.
26 Esta é a interpretação do escrito: Mene - Deus contou o teu reino e o finalizou.
27 Tkel, Thou least been weighed in the balances, and been found wanting.
27 Tequel - Tu foste pesado nas balanças e encontrado em falta.
28 Press; Thy kingdom hath been divided, and is given to the Medes and Persians.
28 Peres - Teu reino foi dividido e dado aos medos e persas.
29 Then gave Belshazzar the order, and they clothed Daniel with purple, with a chain of gold about his neck, and they made a proclamation concerning him, that he should rule as the third in the kingdom.
29 Então ordenou Belsazar, e eles vestiram Daniel com escarlate, e colocaram uma corrente de ouro ao redor do seu pescoço, e fizeram uma proclamação referente a ele, que ele seria o terceiro governante no reino.
30 In that very night was Belshazzar the king of the Chaldeans slain.
30 Naquela noite Belsazar, o rei dos caldeus, foi morto.
31 — ausente —
31 E Dario, o medo, tomou o reino, tendo cerca de sessenta e dois anos de idade.
