1 And David said, Is there yet any one that is left of the house of Saul, that I may show him kindness for the sake of Jonathan?
1 Certo dia Davi perguntou: — Será que alguma pessoa da família de Saul ainda está viva? Se está, eu quero fazer alguma coisa boa para essa pessoa, por causa de Jônatas.
2 And the house of Saul had a servant whose name was Ziba; and they called him unto David; and the king said unto him, Art thou Ziba? And be said, Thy servant is it.
2 Havia um empregado chamado Ziba, da família de Saul. Alguém lhe disse que fosse falar com o rei Davi. — Você é Ziba? — perguntou o rei. — Sim, sou eu mesmo, às suas ordens! — respondeu ele.
3 And the king said, Is there no one left any more of the house of Saul, that I may show him the kindness of God! And Ziba said unto the king, There is yet a son of Jonathan, lame on both feet.
3 E o rei lhe perguntou: — Ainda existe alguém da família de Saul para quem eu possa fazer alguma coisa boa, como prometi a Deus? Ziba respondeu: — Sim. Existe um filho de Jônatas. Ele é aleijado dos dois pés.
4 And the king said unto him, Where is he? And Ziba said unto the king, Behold, he is in the house of Machir, the son of ‘Ammiel, in Lo–debar.
4 — Onde está ele? — perguntou o rei. — Na casa de Maquir, filho de Amiel, na cidade de Lo-Debar! — respondeu Ziba.
5 And king David sent, and had him taken out of the house of Machir, the son of ‘Ammiel, from Lo–debar.
5 Então o rei Davi mandou buscá-lo.
6 And Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, came unto David, and he fell on his face, and bowed himself. And David said, Mephibosheth; And he answered, Here is thy servant!
6 Quando Mefibosete, filho de Jônatas e neto de Saul, chegou, ele ajoelhou-se e encostou o rosto no chão diante de Davi em sinal de respeito. Davi disse: — Mefibosete! — Às suas ordens, senhor! — respondeu ele.
7 And David said unto him, Fear not; for I will surely show thee kindness for the sake of Jonathan thy father, and I will restore unto thee all the land of Saul thy father; and thou shalt eat bread at my table continually.
7 — Não fique com medo! — disse Davi. — Eu serei bondoso com você por causa de Jônatas, o seu pai. Eu lhe darei de volta todas as terras que pertenciam ao seu avô Saul, e você será sempre bem-vindo à minha mesa.
8 And he bowed himself, and said, What is thy servant, that thou shouldst turn thy regard unto such a dead dog as I am?
8 Mefibosete se curvou novamente e respondeu: — Eu não valho mais do que um cachorro morto! Por que o senhor é tão bondoso comigo?
9 Then called the king for Ziba, Saul’s servant, and said unto him, all that hath pertained to Saul and to all his house have I given unto thy master’s son.
9 Então o rei chamou Ziba, o empregado de Saul, e disse: — Eu estou devolvendo a Mefibosete, o neto do seu patrão, tudo o que pertencia a Saul e à sua família.
10 And thou shalt till for him the land, thou, and thy sons, and thy servants, and thou shalt bring in the product, that thy master’s son may have bread which he can eat; but Mephibosheth thy master’s son shall eat continually bread at my table. Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.
10 Você, os seus filhos e os seus empregados cultivarão a terra para a família do seu patrão Saul e farão a colheita para que eles tenham comida. Mas Mefibosete comerá sempre à minha mesa. Ziba tinha quinze filhos e vinte empregados.
11 And Ziba said unto the king, In accordance with all that my Lord the king may command his servant, so will thy servant do. And Mephibosheth said the king shall eat at my table, as one of the king’s sons.
11 Ele respondeu: — Farei tudo o que o senhor mandar. Daí em diante Mefibosete passou a comer junto com o rei, como se fosse filho dele.
12 And Mephibosheth had a young son, whose name was Micha. And all that dwelt in the house of Ziba were servants unto Mephibosheth.
12 Mefibosete tinha um filho pequeno chamado Mica. Todos os que eram da família de Ziba se tornaram empregados de Mefibosete.
13 And Mephibosheth dwelt in Jerusalem; for he ate continually at the king’s table; and he was lame on both his feet.
13 Assim Mefibosete, que era aleijado dos dois pés, ficou morando em Jerusalém e todos os dias comia junto com o rei.
